    I dont know why you record the audio if that puts extra strain on the pc and you are not using the audio track at the end. Also I dont understand why all the hassle in recording the midi track when you can do exactly that more easily with Quick Record in any TD 11, 15, 17 and later modules. The midi file then can be exported to the pc for rendering with the audio track.

    Hi everyone. So I just purchased the Roland TD-17KVX and loving it so far. I am running windows 10 on a work laptop. So far I have downloaded SSD free, Reaper, Kontakt Player 6 and I was thinking about getting the god city drum pack by Kurt Ballou. I also downloaded some ASIO audio driver that's supposed to help with latency? I purchased a usb A to B cable and this is where I'm at. This is brand new to me. Can I bypass the module and be able to hear the drum samples in SSD or god city through my headphones while playing instead of the TD17 sounds? If so how would I do that? My friend is sending me guitar and bass tracks to be able to record drum to. Please share your knowledge or direct me to some good tutorials for dummies. Thanks for any help offered!!

      hi man, only for recording, I think it's not possible to play live with any kind of software using your computer due to the delay "issue", your software needs to get your drum inputs, process them and give the ouput and that takes like a second so you get out of sync with what you play and hear

    • @revelionsword
      @revelionsword 3 года назад

      hi Michal, I didn't find any drivers either so I guess your drum module doesn't need them, on Windows the drivers get installed automatically most of the times, in Macs too but only with simple usb devices with no crazy features, I also found that your module only supports recording MIDI via usb (no audio support), so probably that makes your module a simple usb device when connected to the pc (I'm guessing that means it doesn't require any special usb drivers) did you try already searching your MIDI device in Reaper after plugin in your module to your pc? if you already did it and it's not getting recognized then you'll have to set up your module in the MIDI options and enable MIDI output on the user manual I found these two options: GM MODE and LOCAL CTRL, try with one of these

    Thank You for the lesson! I think you can skip the part of copying the backing track on the sd card. You can add a track (or more) on reaper as backing track and use another track to record the drums. So you can use all the utilities of reaper, for example looping a single section of a song that you want to practice.

    • @pocojoyo

I can play a track from a USB of phone via mini-jack. I connect the kit to my pc with a midi interface so under midi devices I had to select that mini interface, not the TD9 itself. Youcan then apply all the effects/eq/Dynamics that you want. If you look on RUclips there are videos specifically for this, using Reaper with EZDrummer. It's just the same procedure with SSD

      with sections you mean positional sensing? if yes I think SSD5 supports some positional sensing for the snare only and you don't have to set up anything in order to record it, of course you need to have a snare with the positional sensing feature, snares like the PDX-12 only supports rim-shot and doesn't support positional sensing.

      got it, for that is recommended to record MIDI because if you make any mistake you can edit your MIDI and fix those specific parts where you played the wrong "notes", or also you can record just a specific section of the song and then add a new track on your DAW software, cut the wrong piece and replace it with the good one, in order to edit the MIDI with Reaper you just need to double click on the MIDI track and then the MIDI editor will be opened, there you can edit the position of every note, it's volumen level and it's length
