Did you remove the protective paint they use for shipping or did you just pull out the box and installed the exaust.
I took the paint off and applied header paint. Go stainless if you can afford it.
Nice work! I plan on running a set on my 2.2.
I had to take the tops off and tighten parts up. Pretty disappointing given these were $9600 Canadian with manifolds.
sweet
You've done a bunch of work on that thing. How's the progress going? Are you still working on it?
I got a second project that I’ve been working on. I’ll do an update video this weekend.
When I bought my 1957 Bel Air Gasser with sbc fuelie in 1977 it already had sanderson headers, those longtude headers were fantastic !
Can’t beat them. Best fit for my application. Thanks for watching.
10:05
FYI, the rear height is infinitely adjustable if you clock inside spline too. use a protractor and you will never have to do it twice.
Thanks for that. I’m doing my second beetle now.
Just received mine. 71 C10 with a 454 big block. Passenger side needed to be finessed. I had to trim and ear on my transmission and put a little notch in the frame to have them fit correctly. Looks great though. 😊
I had to re apply the rtv. Small leak but they’re still the best.
Part number. I would like to order a set. I have a 71 c10 with a 454 big block. Thank you
Highly recommend them.
Jealous of your garage ... made the mistake of buying a house without one so stuck storing my bug a few streets away at my brother in laws and working in the driveway ... and it's damned freezing right now! LOL ... good video, man. Bug looking cool...
Thanks for watching. Got a 61 convertible I’m starting in a month. Stay tuned.
Reversing my lowered 66 bug to put it back to stock height. Ride is awful lowered.
It is a great look tho.
I'm over the look. More lowered bugs than normal or high bugs in the world. I have a 64 with Bus reduction boxes on it and its awesome to drive! ALso can roll over curbs and park anywhere I want. 14 inches of clearance and body is stock. More practice than lowered in my own mind. @@garagechronicles9008
Not a lot of bass players or musicians, Best bass Rickenbacker.
Who doesn’t love a Rickie!
Nice work
Beautiful bug.🪲
Thanks. It just left after a brief return to fix a few issues.
Nice calves!
I can’t believe I sat through that whole video and didn’t get to hear the exhaust run what a rip off😢I for damn sure won’t be subscribing to this circus act again
It’s coming back for a wrap up episode later this summer. I go over it all then. :)
@@garagechronicles9008well, im subscribing right now,..great video… i jus ordered a sidewinder AA exhaust for my 72 ghia. Stock 1600 single carb engine, hoping it sounds good. I also hav a 64 bug, which i want to lower a bit, give it a cool stance just like yours.
Thanks for watching. I just did another one on my 61 convertible. I realize I didn’t add the audio of the car running. I’ll do another video with my new one and new engine.
Love the color , is it a mouse grey ?🤔
Fontana grey
@@garagechronicles9008 thanks I think I'm gonna go with that color for my 64 bug
Internationals are LEGENDS looking forward to seeing it up and running !
We started building content today. Thanks for checking in.
DUDE... amazing. best City & Colour song. looking forward to more videos on the International.
Thanks. It’s the wife’s truck. I’m going to help her do it but we’ll film it all. It is a great song too!
Very nice ride Grant !
Thanks Gord. It’s for a buddy who is giving it to his bro. Pretty nice!
I have a 64 painted Savannah Biege, very similar to your 65. I'm removing the dropped spring plates (4") and going back to the stock plates. Going to lower 1 spline just as you did. Were both sides at 21 degrees before you dropped it, and if so did both sides come out even, or did you have to re index one side?
I didn’t do the degrees, I did it twice and settled in the middle. I believe it is 21 degrees tho.
Promo SM 🌹
Engine hoist I've seen -- lifts from top of the body -- curious the 2 x 8 didn't leave small indentations where the board met the body -- Takes a lot less space to remove the body -- if one doesn't have the overhead room --- Good Idea --- Thank You -- Rodney
It worked great. I would wrap the area to make sure these areas didn’t dent to be sure.
The bolts I used for covers was Allen bolts much better
Happened upon your channel ---- will be following along on your VW --- Thank You --- Rodney
Welcome aboard. It’s coming back in a month or 2. Then it’s a bunch of other cars!
Nice work, I’m in the middle of restoring my 66 Beetle.
Awesome. Send a pic
Hey, I will be changing my carpet out for something new. Black is to dark when you look inside Bad Razz. Deciding on either grey or a lite charcoal color with a raspberry design stitch on it. It should make my interior pop out!!!
The lighter carpet always looks great in these cars. :)
Thanks for this video. I'm thinking about using RT subframe connectors. Do you have any pics/video of how far they hang down? Thanks.
I’ll take some tonight when I’m back in the garage. Thanks for coming on board. You have good content, sir
@@garagechronicles9008 Thanks, I just found your channel. I look forward to watching your vids.
@@ElrodsGarage 2”. If you send me your email I can send the photos
@@ElrodsGarage I sent a pic to Instagram. It’s 2” overall
That’s a 55 bug
Nah, a 55 has an oval rear window
Dadgum that stance looks so good.
How much is the 65 bug lowered in the front and rear, are you using drop spindles and what about the rear? It sets perfect! Also what size tires on it? Thanks
The tire sizes are listed in an earlier video, maybe have a look at them. The spindles are -2” and the drop beam is adjusted to 2.75” The video shows the drop at 2 notches or 4.5”. Really happy with the ride height.
Looked at all the 65 rebuild videos several times, no mention of tire size. Can you get the tire size and possibly where to buy them. Ive had no luck so far on the web. Also did you use 2 1/5 drop spindles with the adjustable narrowed beam? Greatly Appreciated!!!
Sorry I see you already answered the spindle question, my bad. still looking for the tire size and where to find them. Thanks!!
@@Danbrooks-yc3rm they were purchased at CIP1 in the Vancouver Canada area. 145 front. 165 rear. They have a great website. Used the white wall inserts.
nice
Thank you sir. Just ordered more parts today!
Great videos thanks I’ve got a 66 bus the steering is awful like being in a boat there’s a few options but very expensive rack and pinion other option is to rebuild the box itself but Would prefer to get something safer, I’ve seen a video on here if someone putting together RNp from different suppliers but no one here seems to do this can u do a video on this?
I rebuilt the steering box a few years back. It’s not easy. Not sure what an RNp is
@@garagechronicles9008 rack and pinion
@@tospicy4ya ah. Not something I’m familiar with. The factory steering gets much better with new parts and greasable joints. I’d start there. I wouldn’t rebuild a box again, it’s better and safer to get one rebuilt professionally. You could try to retrofit a 3-piece Porsche rack and multi shaft from that time period. That’s going to be a lot of work tho.
I have found the number one issue with split bus steering and wandering, is tires. Without proper sidewall rating, it will be terrible. Soft passenger car tires will cause it to be all over the road.
Wow. My '64, L-87 pearl white has original trunk paint with same blue crayon writing. Mine says a number then USA after. Keeping that!!
That’s the hardest part in trying to keep them original while restoring. Welcome to.the channel!
Interesting to see it fits with an oil filter/pump combo, as EMPI says they don't! Currently looking at options to upgrade my current exhaust, thanks.
I recommend this system. Although I would go stainless if I did it again. Thanks for watching. G
Keep those videos coming 👍
Thanks Ron! I’m on it.
Gettin close buddy!
Outstanding work !
Thanks Gord.
Thanks for the great videos. That is a great looking bug. Can you give me the specs on the tires? I would love to get some whitewalls like that. Great stance.
Hey there. The tires are from CIP1 in Canada The fronts are 145/14 The tears are 165/15 I used the white wall inserts rather than buy whitewalls. Thanks for checking in. Let me know if there’s anything else you need to know.
ACC-C10-6726. Atlas brand whitewall inserts. 👍
Awesome ride! Just subbed. Looking forward to seeing more.
Thanks man. Welcome aboard
How did wire up your fuel pump and which one did you use?
It’s a Carter p4070. I used a relay for switching and power from the coil positive as a signal for ignition. Ran a fused power direct from the battery.
vroom vroommmmmmm
Nice video just subscribed !!
Thank you sir! I subscribed to yours. Looking forward to seeing your projects.
@@garagechronicles9008 nice one cheers
Can you do a quick talk on your wheels and tyres combo..thanks
Will do. Next episode. Thanks
I agree with Kyle that is one nice looking bug 👍🇩🇪
Thanks sir. Welcome to Garage Chronicles
Sometimes you also need to use carb cleaner and blow the orifices out too but these look pretty good without doing that. Where did you get your ultrasonic cleaner, I've been looking for one? Are you happy with this one?
I got it on Amazon. It’s pretty good. Carbs are tough because the metal reacts with corrosive cleaners. I like it tho and it cleans anything you can fit in it. Mine is a 6L
Nice looking bug. I agree with Bill, nice soundtrack.
Nice Job G, and great grunt soundtrack.
