How To Shoot In An Ugly Location - Part II
What material is it ? im asking because would you be able to put a light behind the backdop when shooting strobe for highkey photograghy ?
It is a fleece material with a smooth and textured side. Light will travel through this material, I just can't say what the light spread would be without testing it out. According to how much space you are working with, have you considered hitting the fabric with the lights from the front and flagging off the light spillage on your subject.
What’s is your instagram? I want to show you the type of images I’m hoping to create with it.
A suggestion, you move around a lot, not a criticism in itself but your audio gets lost a lot. This could be fixed with a lav mic or using a voice over when demonstrating stuff. Your camera loses you on occasion, maybe lock the focus or re-shoot when it loses you. The reason I say this is you have a very professional looking studio and setup. No need to rush it. That said, it was very informative and well put together video. Best of luck on your RUclips journey :) Liked and subscribed
First off, THANK YOU! Thank you so much for your comment and the content within your comment. Your comment was both informative and encouraging. I have definitely taken these pointer in account going forward. Have an awesome day!
Rent a microphone
What brand and type would you recommend?
@@ladedrictaylor sony UWP
@@federicomirando7485 thanks! I will look into it.
This saved my day! thanks a lot!
Thanks for sharing this with me! It's really encouraging to me hearing this.
Hi I used to own a commercial drone company in the UK making commercials, what you said is pure gold, and true. Wish I could have had you on my team.
Yeah, I think this is a common mistake a lot of us have made. Myself being at the top of that list. Be creators, sometimes I think we can be a little too sensitive about our craft. Thanks for the kind words!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Just subscribed. Keep up the great content.
Thank you so much for the encouragement!
Another small channel here. Great tips bro!
Thanks! I appreciate the encouragement! Let's keep moving forward!
Nice!
Thank you so much!
great video
Hey Thanks! That means a lot to me!
I am also a small youtuber just followed you :)
Hello @50statesUSA7, Thank you! I hope you are finding use in the content I am sharing. Here's to helping others and growing together!
I appreciate you for responding. I will be needing a firmware update. I hope this is the issue. I’ll reference back to this short to test out. Thank you sir.
This video was soooo helpful
I’m glad it helped! Thank you so much for sharing that with me!
Samson Q9U isn't the worst microphone I've heard. I just think that it was sadly labeled as SHURE SM7B destroyer & that's where unrealistic expectations comes in. I'll convince my oldest sister to get the microphone. Thank you.
@@RetroBigCat75 I don’t think she will be disappointed at all! Some like the status of having the Shure SM7B microphone which is totally their choice. You’ll just need more equipment to make that microphone sound good. I have nothing against either as I am not recording anyone singing or moving the microphone around a lot when I am recording. Remember some microphones are designed for speech and some are designed for instruments or singing and of course some will do multiple things equally well. Thanks for the comment.
@@ladedrictaylor My sister just wants an plug & play xlr/usb microphone without extra stuff where it'll lead to frustration. I'll tell her about Samson HighRise. On what you said about designed microphones part, I'll keep that in mind. Keep up the good work on your channel, sir.
Not too natural pose, but Quality too good.
Thanks, I appreciate the comment.
That's a serious tripod
I'm liking it so far. I guess new toy, new joy.
Love you uncle
I love you to nephew! I am proud of you!
Niiiice!!! 🎬🎬🎬
Thank you!!!!
I think you could have brought up your f.stop to darken the effect of the flash. But as you said, bouncing of the wall is great way arround the issue. I don't own the Westcoot FJ80ii. I hope I could help.
Thanks for the recommendation!
Hey brother thank you for this ! Everything I needed to hear about this company. Gonna get the 24-70 for an event I have. I only shoot primes 😂
I think you will have great success with them especially being that they will remind you when it is time to ship it back. Just make sure you allow enough time for the lens to get to you. Oh, come back and let us know how it went for you!
I have a kinda dumb question for the photos at 42:43 Why is the guard rail in the photo? Is it to draw attention to the car or something else? To my (noob) eye, it takes away part of the car and covers the road. I’d love to know why.
@quinnmarchionini7997 Thanks for the comment. I have to admit I may have gotten a little lost in your comment, but I found it humorous in the interpretation it took from it. I hope I am on the same page with you. The dome acts similar to a bounce card and the second diffuser flap on traditional square head flashes. The difference is it will disperse the light in more directions allowing it to bounce off of near by walls and or the ceiling. Of course according to the width of the image or group of people, the person in the center will get more light as you will still get light fall-off as you go to a wider group of people. I hope this makes sense. Again, thanks for commenting!
@@ladedrictaylor I am so sorry this was meant for the video I was watching not this short😅
@@quinnmarchionini7997 🤣🤣🤣 Not a problem! I still appreciate the laugh I had.
I just got hit in the face trying to fold one of these. Stay safe out here 😅. Oddly enough I can fold the bigger ones but the smaller one seems to be more of challenge!
I think most people that try these either gets hit (or close to it) or they get scared by it when it pops open. 🤣 You got this!
@@ladedrictaylor thank you 🙏 for the video, after a few tries I managed to fold it!
You da man!!! I cannot thank you enough for this!!
Thank you! I’m glad this video was useful to you l. I hope I have others videos that are helpful as well.
Tori and I graduated from South Alabama together..
Hello! It’s a small world!
People shit on it and also prefer the sm7b... But honestly I can't tell the difference I can't even tell the difference between this and my Electro-voice Re20💀
Yeah I agree that the Q9U has received a lot of flake for not being just about any other mic besides the mic that it is. I have only use it for speech with my voice and have not had a need to us it for singing, so I have no idea how it would perform recording any type of singing. I am surprised that you do not hear a difference in these mics sibilance, bass or mid bass characteristics. Much respect to you and a big thank you for sharing your experience.
Hey man, I need you to be my friend . I love photography big time. 🎉 Ilive in a small town Butler, Ok very rual farm and ranch .
Sounds good to me. Keep shooting and creating your art!
Nice shoot !!!!!!
Thank you, and thank you for the support as well!!!
Great shoot my brother.
Thank you for the support!!!
This shoot was 🔥!
Thank you so much!
Hit the mode button and switch it to fraction. The decimal side is basically like a ttl of power. When you switch it to fraction you can lower it a lot more
Thank you, but that’s just changing the display 1-9 to fractions for the equivalent power range. You still have to same adjustments of tenth power steps per fraction or decimal setting.
I upgraded to the fx30 from the a6500 only because of 4k 60 other than that I would’ve kept my a6500 .
That's a nice camera with in-body image stabilization! Did you run into overheating in your recording style with the a6500?
when I use the flash at night half of my picture on the subject is white and the other side of dark and that number doesn’t go higher than three on canon. Is there a reason as to why that number doesn’t go higher? I see yours is a Sony.
Yes, I have a guess. First, I think your camera is in TTL and you have adjusted the flash to +3 which is three (s) steps above what the camera and flash combo would have chosen for the proper amount of light. You can either lower it back down to "0" if you want to use TTL. If you want to be in total control of the amount of light the strobe makes, try this. If you tap the word "MODE" it should light up. Next tap either one of the "Arrows" and you should see it change to "M". Next press the okay. Please let me know if this helps.

Nice shots! What camera and lens did you use?
Thanks! Most of these shots were taken with a Sony A7III and Sony 70-200mm.
@@ladedrictaylor thank you!
I really appreciate the details and the slow, careful explanations. Thank you for including cell phone camera use.
Thank you for sharing this to me. I am still learning my style of relaying information. Comments like this really helps me to understand what is or is not working.
@@ladedrictaylor I like to learn about technical things as if I'm hearing about them for the first time. When steps are skipped because familiarity is assumed, I really have trouble.
@@backinthetemple Thank you for explaining this and pointing out the importance for me not to assume and skip over any details.
Sharp
Thank you @landry2034
This is informative, concise, and professional. I never had a real interest in cameras but I could listen to your voice for hours. The quality is phenomenal too, instant fan
Hello!!! Thank you so much for your kind words and support! I hope I continue to meet these standards. Thank you so much!
Thank u for the simple and easy instructions got it first try lol
I'm glad it helped! Thanks for letting me know. I am still working on how to present the information.
The Samson Q9U gets some hate but mainly it’s from the Shute crowd that thinks any dynamic mic that isn’t an original SM7 from 40 years ago isn’t good enough. I love my Q9U. Picked it up for $99 bucks a few months back new. Great mic!
I love my Q9u sound for speech, I don’t sing so I have no idea what it would sound like for a singer. My only caution with this mic is that you make sure it is not muted when you are recording. Otherwise, using this mic as the tool it was designed to be and not as some type of status symbol is really fun and sometimes a comforting prop.
Helpful video. Thank you
Glad it was helpful! Please note This video was regarding Auto Mode and not A. Thank you for the support.
On the sony alpha, like literally every other DSLR, A is for aperature priority mode, the auto function is labeled auto in green
You are absolutely correct. Thanks.
The A on my Lumix is AE mode or Aperture-Priority mode
You have a good point or should I say accurate point. I should have called it Auto and not A. Thanks.
Is this a joke?
Not at all.
Sorry mate I've been taking terrible pictures for 35 years. The only tip I have for taking excellent pictures is to pay someone like you to take them.
Hey I appreciate the comment, but I am sure you have some awesome photography skills.
Thank you for the video. I just bought this camera and I’m trying to get familiar with it. I’m looking forward to your videos/tutorials using this camera.
I think you will absolutely love it. If you have any specific questions, please let me know. Thanks for your comment!
Good video... Appreciate the information
Thanks for letting me know. I hope I have other videos you will find useful as well.
Give me the insta please
Do you have a link for the Rode shotgun? I desperately need a new mic for my lives 😅
I actually do. Here is the link. amzn.to/3vveMaQ
Do you know which lens you are going to use?
This is most likely going to be my next camera. I’ve watched like 10 different camera reviews at this point. Maybe I missed it but do you still use your dummy battery for the new camera? Glad that the overheating stopped!
I haven’t had the need to use the dummy battery as of yet. I am planning my first live and I think I will use it for that. I really like the Sony line of cameras and the lens options you have from a qualifying and price standpoint.
Love this mindset 👏🏽
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
