Hi, thanks for your comment. Just to clarify; I didn't write anything for the first tutti, that is aksed by Hummel in his Manuscript 😌
No, that would be the bass part, traditionally the soloist plays their part or an appropriate part with the orchestra. Some Americans don't do it anymore but many do and most other countries still practice this. It gives the soloist all the time they need to warm up, play along, get in the right head space and double check the reed or set up they are using. She did not write that and it is not interesting.
@ I have performed this challenging concerto several times, and my teacher actually made the world premiere recording of it when it was far less known in the bassoon community. I have also heard it performed dozens of times throughout Europe and the US over the past 40 years. I have never heard any player play this part in the tutti before the solo entry, and it is definitely not written in the part. I have absolutely nothing against it, but it is a highly unusual interpretation choice, and indeed an interesting one. In fact, I am hard pressed to think of a single example of a concerto soloist on any instrument playing an accompaniement to the tutti introduction before the solo entry. I'm not saying it's wrong, or bad, but highly unusual and indeed most interesting.

Wunderbar!! So schöner Klang und worauf ich richtig neidisch bin, man merkt nicht wie die permanente Atmung wechselt! Auch das Heckel Fagott kommt durch diese Ausnahmefagottistin sehr schön und warm zur Geltung. Gratuliere und ich freue mich schon heute auf das nächste Video oder vielleicht schaffe ich es ja mal zu einem Konzert. zu kommen. Kompliment für die Interpretation dieses wirklich schweren Konzertes.
Fantasia in G minor is one of my favorite works from Fanny Mendelssohn and I can say this is the best version I’ve found on the internet ❤️ I play piano myself and I didn’t expect a bassoon can sound so rich and graceful. Perfect match with the piano. What an amazing performance. Good job!
