King James bible says "The love of money is the root of ALL evil". NIV and other versions It says the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Kinda a big difference there..

Our desires are not natively good. C.S. Lewis talks about this as well, but from a biblical perspective, it is not correct. Sin is not distorting our good desires. Our sinful nature made our desires natively evil. And so without Christ, everyone has natively evil desires. Look up Romans 7:15-20.
