So proud of myself, thank you for giving me the confidence to get started and I have to say it was doable and accessible, I did it in thirty minutes, the capacitor was faulty after all these years and was no longer synchronizing... here it is resurrected and it's great. I recommend using the braid to remove the tin as well as a third hand which is very useful for holding the printed circuit.

2024 fix here! Thank you!! I have another issue now .. after a couple of minutes playing, the guitar desyncs, the dongle starts to flash while the light on the guitar stays still… any suggestions?

Whats the size of the other capacitor? Are they the same? For me it‘s the other that busted.

that cemented on connector is OK to just pull off by the looks of it, it only sits on 2 prongs

I have an issue where the power button on my guitar is screwed: it won't work whn pressed and only activates on its own once in a while when it feels like it. Any advice at all? I've not been able to play these games for years because of the issues with my controller ☹

I just did it and it worked for me, now I can use the guitar, the only issue that I have now is that the Yellow and Blue are swapped in GHWT, I'm digging to see if I can find a fix. Thanks again for this video, I think you saved many guitars.

Ugh… I couldn’t unplug the battery connector piece. I took like all the glue off and it still wouldn’t come loose. Being impatient I went ahead with removing the old capacitor and putting in the new one. Now the guitar sync lights aren’t lighting up at all. I’m thinking it’s because I over heated the battery connection while soldering. 😭😭😭

Ruined the Guitar with this. It is almost impossible to get old capacitor out and then not burn the board

Could not find a 220 uF at 10v, but it worked with with 25v. You are awesome dude. Finally was able to use my GH control after more than a decade!!

It works, I had to actually clean up the playstation button as some sticky liquid went on it during the soldering, the button was sticky. A bit of isopropyl did clean it nice, and all is working now. Thanks

Has anyone tried this fix for the xbox 360 les paul? I'm having syncing issues and can't find any fixes except this one.

I have to say I was sceptical but this fix was spot on, thank you so much for posting. A 30p capacitor saves the day and now we can play Guitar Hero once again.

2022 you're still real guitar hero man! luckly to buy 2nd hand ps3 guitar hero w/ dongle here in japan for only 18 bucks but there's a problem in syncing and I've tried and it is working bro! さすがですね！！

I"m having the same problem in a Xbox 360 Les Paul and I didn't find any solution for this. The architeture of the motherboard is completely different from PS3 version. Do you have any tip for this problem?

Still the real guitar hero in 2021! Note to all solder noobs: if you have trouble loosening the old capacitor, just clip it off so you can heat the solder points from both sides.
