the fabric for the jacket is amazing. however I'd change the jacket pattern. the one you choose just does not look modern

How do the go on rides in a wrap dress work? Even a windy day get sometimes riskey. And that fabric scream Mirabell

I am slowly working on the Cornell shirt by Elbe Textiles and a Remy Raglan from Sew House Seven. I am also cutting out scraps for a quilt. I am going to free style the pattern, but I have an idea for kind of a rectangle checkerboard look. So two colors for each section in a rectangle checkerboard. I'm limiting the colors to shades of brown and navy. We'll see how it turns out! It's for my son and his wife and these are colors they would like. Happy sewing and thank you for the video!

I am finishing up a pattern emporium jacket and then plan on making a few things for my granddaughters.

I think the Ilford jacket will be gorgeous in that fabric. The Nash pants will be so cute styled with the amari. I am also going to attempt a quilt this year. I am doing the one where you make a block using the books you read for the colors.

Yesterday I finished a pair of black linen Saguaro set pants to match a black linen wrap top I made last month and today I started a Fortiv tulip top in a remant of cute upholstery fabric I thrifted and have been dying to use. I'm hoping to finish it tonight and next week start either the top or jeans from Knowme 2002 (I think?).

Hi Val - I love these ideas, I have the Elodie pattern and the fabric bought, just need to re-measure myself and make it! I just finished a lap quilt, I bought the pre-cut fabric at Stitch Buffalo, a great resource for quilt squares. Finishing up another Closet Core t-shirt this weekend. Happy Sewing :)

Yes, Valerie, we believe you can do it! I’ve been inspired by your past make of the Blanca Flightsuit and want to make one soon from a McCalls pattern. Currently, I’m fine tuning my understanding of how to make pants fit before I tackle some jeans. And I want to make a corduroy jacket. And I just want to make all the things! 😂

Yay! Sewing plans! 🎉 I’ve made the Elodie before and also have a small bust & am short (#winning). I highly recommend making a toile of the bodice. Getting the waist to hit at the right place is super key to the fit & totally worth taking the time to figure it out. Once I figured out the fit it was like magic! ✨ It is such a beautiful dress! I made it for an outdoor wedding and it was crazy windy - also recommending shorts 😂. Your plans sound super fun. Happy sewing!

I made the Elodie wrap dress like 4 years ago and had issues with a small bust. I would definitely toile it up first. I don't remember if I did any specific adjustments though.. It's possible I didn't because that was the year I learned to sew and I was very arrogant lol. My next sewing projects are going to be a bunch of knit dresses. I think I'll use the SW Aaronica dress pattern.

You were my motivation whilst digging through my fabric scraps. I have to redo the waistband of some joggers and now I have the fabric. The elastic was to weak and thin to hold up the joggers. Plans: fix this waistband, finnish pj trousers with teddy bears and make a zippered hoodie (if succesful maybe more than one) and make at least two Hera sweaters with the puffiest sleeves.

Hi, new sub here from UK. I made a variation of the pouffe and filled it full of scraps. I NEED to unpick and make it a little smaller and interface the sides. In the meantime my dog has bypassed his bed and adopted it 😂. I'm on a fabric, pattern and yarn ban, my stash will outlive me😂. I'm actually enjoying the process. Jersey scrap busting using Tilly and the Buttons Iris knickers is soo satisfying.

TomKat Stitchery did Sew Precious last September (?) and her "plans" video said they were going to do it again this year...Maybe that will be the perfect time to use that Liberty silk

I always enjoy your videos, so this was a lovely surprise for the New Year. I wonder if your friend taught you continental-style knitting instead of English/standard style. It isn't wrong - just very different. Sometimes they call it "picking" instead of "throwing" based on how you incorporate the yarn in each stitch. If this is the style you use, I've heard that it's faster and also more natural for people who crochet (something about the tension).

Loved this video, I differently with you on pant making. I want to do pants for myself this year . I can make many things, but pant “scary”. Thank you for this video and helping decide to go for it.

I'm totally here for all of your goals and know that I'll be doing similar things in tandem with you! I'm quilting this year too, continuing my fitting journey, sewing ALL the pants and starting embroidery! All while buying minimal fabric and patterns, I'm overwhelmed by what I've got already! And I went a bit wild over Xmas buying old quilting books... 😱 Can't wait to see what you get up to.

I found the same thing with Make 9, i think the best I ever did was 5. I gave up on it as I like to sew what I want when I want. So happy to see your video. Jordan is a fantastic vlog partner. I am sure you will sew something beautiful with your Liberty Silk. Happy New Year to you both!

Thanks for sharing :-) I feel like many sewist, myself included, go through a moment of, I need to be sewing for my personal style. I've cut back on my social media intake over the years, which has really helped me get back in touch with my personal style. Just putting it out there in case it's helpful :-)

You are so authentic, Valerie, and that’s why I love your videos so much! I feel like you were speaking my goals when you talked about your fabric and pattern stash. Can you share how you found the strength to curb your fabric buying? Also, I think if you’re concerned with cutting into the gorgeous silk fabric, maybe you could start with a top which doesn’t take much fabric and then ease into something more substantial. OMG! Me too! My biggest goal for the year is to use what I already have. I have so much and I look forward to the challenge of matching fabrics and patterns from my stash as inspiration strikes. I also don’t do well with Make Nine. I love the planning part but then I lose interest in the plans. I do best when I plan like 3 garments at the same time (at the most). I keep a list of patterns I see and like on my phone just so I have an outlet for my ideas. Happy 2025! Cheers to health, love, and hope this year. ❤✂️❤️✂️

Interesting commentary - did you refer back to the Make9 during the year - or just forget about it? I've managed about half the projects for the last 2 years but this year have chosen 9 different pattern companies with possible ideas for a project. And yes the one I didn't get done do get carried forward - I'm not good at letting go. 🥰
