Thanks for that 90% and 100% explanation. I wonder if there is a company that would do a pattern on your knife scale if you send it in. Imagine a sebenza with that milling pattern on the scales.
@@clo2715 It would be Sharp! But I love the simple nature of the Sabenza :)
it's nice to know I'm not alone when it comes to pens and how they write.
@@DaKrEm2.6 LoL, yep but I finally settled on ones that take the G2 as my fav!
@johncacey the Uni-Ball Jetstream Elements in 1.0mm black ink is my overall favorite and daily writing choice. I really like the hybrid "best of both worlds" ink. Having said that I'm looking for other pens to enjoy writing with.. the Pilot Acroball (also hybrid) is a top pic, the Uni-Ball Signo 207 & 207+ are good as is the Pilot G2, 0.7mm in black is very nice. I've used Fisher Space pens for many many years in medium black ink. They write great when brand new. Lately they've taken a back seat.
@ Yes, it's funny if you're like me once you find what works you pretty much just stick with it. I just went through a lot to figure out what I like.
For 5 minutes I had hope this might be a fountain pen...
@@ichirofakename LoL
I've been looking at pens all day. After spending so much time looking at clicky pens and bolt actions, I think you've sold me on this minimalist one. Kinda like the weight of it too.
To this day it's the one still in my pocket! And the weight is nice!
My bench made folder hasn’t had a spring failure and I carry it everyday and have for almost 10 years. I guess it could fail but not as of this comment.
@@joeh14 And that is 99% of the peoples response. Honestly it's mostly a mental what if game we are talking about here. That is why if you like the Benchmade, get it. It's just a spring :)
The Backup setting is ideal for le officers. High first and the low 5 lumen are just right for controlling driving license car documents up close. But I dont understand what the problem is for SF to make the flashlight programmable like Streamlight or Convoy where you can switch to different settings.
Yes, I think ultimately this is just a result of the fact that surefire is not a consumer flashlight brand, but caters to a small sector of the population that needs a specific light.
@@johncacey Yes and the handheld flashlights probably are a very small section of their profit anyhow. They maybe make much more money with their weapon lights and suppressors.
@@GieszkanneThat's probably correct. Which is why companies like OLight exist because they cater completely to their user base.
The folliage green says small. I don't think it's 8"!
They do come in different sizes so get the right size for sure
This is a really tough decision to make, slightly leaning towards the Para 3 just because if I decide to make it my EDC it will be getting used about 50 times a day. Ive read the Compression lock basically never fails, but for the Axis lock the Omega Spring does. It isnt a very expensive fix, like $5 to put new springs on, but looks like kind of a hassle.
This was exactly my issue with the Axis lock. There are plenty of examples where people have lots of different bench made knives that never have a lock issue, but it is more likely. Obviously, if you like the bench made more than there's something to be said about getting what you enjoy over what is potentially the most practical. But if you like both equally, then you could apply a little logic and get the one that you feel is going to last the longest.
Keep in mind for that list ... I do swap now and a little while ... between the bic multi color and the fisher space pen... so technically the fisher space pen is in the top ten list
Ya everyone should have a space pen :)
So my top ten pens would be .... 1)kaweco(. 2)Conklin ballpoint(. 3)cross edge(. 4)zebra f701(. 5)parker jotter(. 6)watermen ballpoint(. 7)Pentel energel(. 8) montaverdè ballpoint(. 9)bic ballpoint multi color version(. 10)pilot G2 gel(...
That is great, this gives others pens to look into!
I like the fisher for signing or for taking notes... for wrighting long periods I like the keweco parker style g2 pen... it's the ALSport that takes parker style refills... Then for a longer pen I like... the Conklin ball ...point and the cross edge ...
Thanks for the info!
I think HIGH first and then low makes much more sense. most others don't do that and I wish they did.

Henry is a great guy. I knew him when we did Tia Chi about 20 years ago. I got one of his flashlights when I went on my deployment in 08. Worked great. Even used it on the road when the search light on the Humvee burned out. Kept the mission going!
@@p.o.9964 Thanks for the great info!
I own a HDS 325lumen NLT rotary, convoy s2+ with custom triple LEDs, a malkoff md2 HOT, couple of thrunite TN12s, an Oveready Boss, and the FW3A. All of them are ofcourse much brighter on the highest output setting over the HDS because at the end of the day the HDS is a CR123 platform and was designed around that platform, the max safe discharge rate of CR123 batteries are around 1amp thus Henry from HDS make 1amp lights. Sure HDS lights are a bit large compared to most other modern CR123 lights but the modest output+bigger tube housing(host) net you a flashlight that doesn’t overheat and have to step down to a lower output from turbo or high after like 30seconds for almost all “high powered/high lumens” single cell pocket sized lights... For the average flashlight user 200-325 lumens is plenty bright. The only thing I do wish for is if HDS would make an 18350 sized light or at least the battery tube for bit more run time, I know they make 18650tubes but those are too long and looks awkward with the head never heard of them offering tubes in 18350 size tho. Overall I like my HDS I do not regret purchasing this well built, well thought out tool and the attention to reliability and ease of use especially the Rotary UI. When I do go out at night I often find my self grabbing the HDS. The other lights in my collection are either too big or too easy to accidentally switch modes. Just carry a couple of extra CR123s or its rechargeable variants (RCR123A/16340) and you’re good to go. It’s sort of like that underpowered vehicle, reliable, well built car that will always get you from point A-B thus their slogan “The light that gets you home”
Agree 100%! Thanks for the review.
Still tbh i like pilot v5 rt most or even more so brt, easily replaceable and easy to use and for v5 rt anything works innt
Thanks, good info.

I don’t like how the gel pens smear
With some ink, yes that can be an issue.
Not to resurrect an old video or anything but the titanium version of this pen was recently released and mine just got delivered. I’m super pumped to check it out!
WOW! I did not know that. You will have to share!
@@johncaceyIt’s a beautiful pen. The finish is dark gray, but under the right light, these multicolored rainbow hues show up in a way that’s quite striking. The dimensionality of the cap is slightly changed at the top to be wider and more bulbous. It’s subtle, but noticeable. Adam explained to me that they made that change because of how difficult titanium is to machine. The biggest thing I noticed about it is that it is LIGHT. Like way lighter than the brass and even the stainless steel models. It almost feels like I’m writing with a plastic G2. I like it for longer sessions like when I’m journaling. Overall a fantastic pen and a great addition to the original lineup. When the next drop happens I suggest you jump on it.
@@pow-lowWow, thanks for the update! I almost jump on it but decided to hold off to afford other gear. I am sure a second is totally worth it but it's hard to justify when I like the Stainless so much. Glad you got one and enjoy it! Its still in my pocket every day!
After watching this video again, I put my stainless steel back in my pocket. I do like the brighter finish of it and for some reason it doesn’t develop the same ring of dirt/metal shavings that my brass and titanium versions do. Do you get that same ring of dirt/metallic shavings around your grip area?
@@pow-low I have never noticed that. To some degree I do like the weight of it as well. It's just got that nice solid feel.
For a long time I liked just getting the brightest lights from manufacturers like olight and ace beam etc. After having experienced using them in the real world I’ve found I much prefer using the high quality lights such as surefire, hds, malkoff, elzetta, zebra light etc. They seem to be much more accurate in their output measurements and runtimes and I’ve found their optics to be superb compared to all the basic reflectors that the other brands use. And that’s not even touching on the longevity comparison.

What kind of knife is that? It's beautiful.
It is the Holt Morpheus. Out of the high end machined knives this one was my favorite. Simply stunning!
A bit late to the show but the color combo knocks it out of the park. I regret I don’t have a warrior . Baton4 Baton4 . ❤ and yet both powerful with ou the bulk of a mag light.
Ya I think the WM3 is more useful than the Baton series since they are basically the same size but gives you the tail cap option. The Baton is the light you gift a non-flashlight person.
@@johncaceyI was a flashlight collector of old chemistry then lithium, and custom batteries changed it for me. Luckily I gifted myself the baton4 version not big blinding. Just easy to carry in pocket. Lol
@@martinmiller7623I agree they are both very hard to beat from a practical standpoint.
Been eyeing this light for so long now but never pulled the trigger. I have to agree with you 100% on this one. Low should be closer to 15 lumens with max vision. 5 doesn’t seem to useful, at least not with a floody beam. And I know it’s “Tactical” and all but come on, you’re not doing much with 1800 candela on high. I feel like this should at least come with a lo/hi configuration. And have a LE (Law Enforcement) variant with the hi/lo for those who want it.
Very good points. I would say it still serves a "tactical" role if it's in an indoor room clearing type situation. I think compared to a light with say 100k candela you will find the MV more useful in close quarter situations. Same situation the Tactician was designed for. Outside its very very lacking :)
I got laughed at by friends and family for buying $100 dollar surefire lights in the early/mid 90s. Lights like the 6p and 9P, running Incan lamps at the time and 150 lumens was bright! Lol. LED changed the landscape as we all know now. Ended up getting Malkoff drop ins for those bodies. Got a 9P that runs 2 16500 cells with a Malkoff m61. Making 750 lumens now and runs twice as long as the original Incan.
Thats funny! Ya my first real like I remember was the Surefire G2. I sort of had a soft spot for Surefire probably because of that. Good old 60 lumen light with the incan that got like 60m of run time hahahahaha!
Lockout mode like someone else mentioned. You get into it by pressing the button and holding it for like 4 seconds. Once in lockout mode, if you press the button, the battery indicator will flash red to let you know.
Thank you!
The guy that started keybar is a good dude. From what I understand he had a background in maintenance and wanted to come up with a way to stop the key jingle. Good dude with great customer service.
Agreed!
Ive got the Javelot mini and a spare battery, i simply love it. The only thrower i love.
Ya they are impressive!
Had one but gave it to my mom for her birthday. I really prefer the Warrior X4 if we're talking Olights; 134K vs 99K Candela ain't as much difference as it may sound like, but the spill of twice the lumens is definitely noticable! But that one too is too much of a specialty light for me to carry it around on a daily basis.
I totally agree and actually I was also interested in the X4, funny! If you want an almost perfect defensive light that is easy to cary with a spot on mix of Lumen and Candela check out the Weltool T2 TAC. I may or may not have one and may or may not be doing a video on it eventually…… :)
@@johncacey Oh man, if I buy a single light more for a while then the mrs would throw me into the doghouse! 🤣 Besides, I fell quite hard for Fenix lights, if I was more of a reasonable man with more common sense, the PD36R V2.0 is pretty much the only allround light I would ever need, it's like a pocketable W X4 with the same light profile (albeit weaker of course), love it to bits, so much that I even bought two of the thing, besides the PD40R V3.0 and a PD36R TAC . 🤫
@@kundetjenesten LOL, I completely understand that but its slightly different :) I don't end up in the doghouse but if buy another light then my better half also gets to buy something fun without feeling bad :) :) I like Fenix lights also but they never quite fit. I was after a purely defensive light when I got the T2 TAC. I wanted an 18650, something with a rear tail cap button that was not shrouded, tail switch must give momentary and constant high/turbo with no mode switching and I wanted a more balanced Lumen/Candela. USB-C would have been nice but it was not a must. I got hooked on "FlashlightCrazy" on youtube and Weltool is a more popular brand where he is. I never really paid them any attention. Fit and finish I would say Weltool and Fenix are on par but of course time will tell. Neither is a Malkoff or HDS in regards to quality but they are nice. I just picked up two of their lights and may or may not have noticed the Raylight LANApple back in stock yesterday hahahahahahaha :) Needless to say my wife will get to go on a shopping spree now also! I hope to do a review soon on the T2. Most of my reviews are more first impressions as I don't wait for months before doing them but still a good way for others to see the lights.

Hahahaha Negative
My wurkkos hd01 can but the lens is plastic so whatever you burn the flame will damage the lens . Do you know of another flashlight that can burn ?
@@DynamicAthleteHubThese lights do get warm, but I don't know of any that will burn a plastic bag for instance with the beam.

G2 gel vs zebra gel?
I'm not sure if I have that ink to do a comparison, but I can tell you that the pilot G2 has become my number one go to. I honestly don't care to look for any other cartridges at this point. It does everything that I want to do and it is super common and easy to find. I would say that the quality and the commonality are what make it my personal favorite.
@johncacey ok then I recommend trying it. Was my favorite for sure. Zebra gel.. cheap enough to try. But thx
@@bigmarkymark9669Thanks
My Nitecore P20Ix has 2 buttons on the cap. One for instant strobe and has 2 modes. tactical which is always on turbo or daily. You can easily use a low output instantly and have access to instant turbo or strobe. THAT! is way much more efficient than this. I dont want to use another hand to turn the cap. I want instant access to all turbo, strobe, or a low output with only one hand. When ever I want every single time. I dont understand how a "tactical light" can be only 250 lumens. I can't really blind anyone.
All valid points and of course not everyone will see it the same. There are lots of great lights that have more features, but HDS does have some things that others might value more.
