Orange Bucket Sluice testing

I find myself on a new claim with a nice running stream. Wanting to put my 5 ft. self made highbanker to use, I spend some quality time testing spots with a pan and my Orange Bucky sluice system.
Short afternoon with a Homemade Sluice Bucket.

I make a valiant effort to try and gather up some of the recent flood gold from massive rains in November 2021. I didn't last very long, but we still put some shiny in the BOWL. Also testing for losses, with great results.
Moose Hunting with e-bikes

Reducing the time required to get to prime moose country at daylight. I built 2 ebikes using conversion kits and we saved around 45 minutes compared to walking in.

Prospecting for a Hobby

It gets kinda silly watching someone dig up countless bits of lead and bb's, but one has to understand that this is a hobby, far more than it is about unearthing gold and treasure!
Home Cleanup

How Do you clean that Gold from Black Sand? Spend more time at the river digging, searching and sluicing or panning. Even in this video I likely wasted too much time ridding cons of black sand, when it should be done later, at home.

A few memories from fishing close to home (Nanoose Bay to Qualicum) with family and friends. Starting with Stan, a friend of mine, and wife Sylvia and sister Lynda. THIS is A Redo of a previous version; to include the last BIG one we caught in late August.

Is this Gold Nugget country?

This area has big potential to hold gold nuggets. On this trip in I just have a pan and a small shovel. I prove that there is some gold, but will have to return when water is low and I have some different equipment.
We Return to get some Gold

Sylvia and I go back to the spot where we found a promising spot with a pan. Heavy and black sands show up all over so there has to be plenty of flood gold.

Testing the sluicing action using 3 different size bowls.
You made a GR Nugget Bucket.... Nice I have like 3, dont go anywhere with out one
Try Gold Phenoms gravity panning give it a view
You could cut another bucket, with the opening slightly higher.
True enough. Next one, I will
Stream sluice box
6:57 to 7:20 Shot is/was awesome! The slow motion was as well. Have you seen the concentrator cup in the Production model, it has a tapered section to a wider upper part of the cup, I have to think that the difference helps slow down the turning & helps let out the lights to keep the heavy particles. Nice idea with the pad, although I'm not sure it helps as the turning is closer to the spill. And I don't think that cut out is all that helpful either - playing with the distance between the funnel & the cup - I got to think makes a difference too.
Thanks for the comments. I HAVE added a few changes since the video. Added a lip to top of cup, among others.
muchas gracias por compartir su experiencia !!!! 😎
Terry, you should put an extension tube on the funnel so it reaches slightly below the surface of the bowl. That'll keep the flour gold from floating out.
Good start, you can improve it even more. Try putting a piece of thin plywood underneath, or 2 pieces of 1 x 2 going cross wise. Check the angle on the top of the bucket with a level or angle finding app. Also, you could try cutting a 2 inch slot on the back end of the collection cup (and/or raising the lip at the front end of the collection cup. This directs water and material to the back of the bucket, forcing it to go around the collection dish like an inside bend, and climb the higher lip at the front of the bucket. Get rid of the circular side holes, and make your front bucket outlet a but higher to make the gold do more work to get out. In technical terms type of fluid bed is called elutriation. Do all of this with your existing system and I think your fine gold capture will go up. Again, it's a decent prototype, and with a few tweaks you can make it even better. Good stuff!
Hey thanks for all that Dan! I already did block the front bowl exit by using the bowl lid, trimmed to block the front exit. Gotta get out and use it more though....
@@terrybirkholz2794 - I hear you, it's about time for the days to get longer.
Looks like it would catch anything bigger than flour.
Hello. Great video. You have stimulated my DIY interests. Question? What did you use for the white primary funnel. Thanks...........
Thats a good question. It was hard to find. It was larger than necessary and i had to mark it and cut it. Maybe a funnel for beer making??
Just saying hi. Yes that Ken.
Awesome Ken! Happy you did. Hi back and hope all is well!
New Subscriber here. Good job on that bucket great idea and doesnt look too hard to make at all! Hope you find pounds of gold with that thing!
Thanks a bunch!
Cool setup indeed fam. Worked out great. Keep on having fun getting that au and living the dream. Gold Squad Out!!!
It would be really fun to see how you made that deep bucket top classifier. You mentioned a 1/2 and a 1/4. Please!
Hello Terry Your Sluice Bucky is a very interesting idea, but when I'm by running water I prefer a sluice. But for lakes, the thing is very cool. I'd be happy to give you a BIG LIKE👍 and an ABO. Greetings from Germany from Golden Christian 🤠
Awesome. Thats cool that someone from Germany watched my video! Thanks!
@@terrybirkholz2794 Hey Terry I always enjoy looking over the shoulders of our gold panning friends in America. We all have the same passion for panning for gold. And if I like something, these friends are also happy to receive a BIG LIKE and subscription from me. I wish you many more great ideas when it comes to panning for gold and I wish that you would also film and share them. Greeting Big Like and Subscription from Golden Christian🤠
AWESOME! Great idea!!!

Thank you. I have recently added one. Works great!
perfect nice
On your bowl try and incorporate a lip for in helping with maintaining the gold in your catch bowl. Should help
What a great suggestion. Only thing I would have to watch for is that enough lighter material still exits. Maybe I could try just putting a lip on the front of the bowl at first. Any gold out the back would not make it out of the bucket
Interesting video….. Where did you find that big funnel? Looks like one of the rivers in western Washington or Oregon.
Good question. That was awhile ago. I know when I bought it I bought 2 because not easy to find. It could have been from a beer making supply house/ They use large funnels
Good video bro 👍 I caught a big fish today. I advise you to watch.
I love that little shut up you made that's pretty cool thanks for taking us along God-bless
What a blast fam. Cool setup indeed. Keep on having fun getting that au and living the dream fam. Gold Squad Out!!!
Been paying attention to this a little. The handwashing flow pace seems sufficient and moving any faster imagine would negate the process. The funnel seems to mitre well although there may be some improvisions available in that arena. Good stuff👍
Looks very high quality - nice to look at.
I don't understand how this works. Could you please explain
My GRNB has at least a 90 to 98% capture rate. Really a great tool to do casual prospecting. Also a diffrent way of processing material.
Same principle as the Gold Rush nuggett Bucket.
Beautiful idea. Thanks for your time, sir.
Strongly suggest you acquire a clip-on mic that is Bluetooth and sends crisp audio to your camera, need a wind screen, some are furry for windy times. Great video and great concept of creating a vortex in the bowl from the constriction of the funnel, had a similar setup conventionalized but not a cutout on the bucket and my dish was located below a inverted lamp shade, with the sieve on to. Run the smallest 12V bilge with switch for water. Here is something to help find the heavies associated with the deposition of gold, bring some bright flagging tap to mark your spots. ruclips.net/video/ffK4zBvHeq8/видео.html
The early metal detectors where BFO which picked up increased concentration of iron, if you found the iron, you find the paystreak. I wonder if modern detectors set on iron will pick up the black sands?
Dan Hurd uses a rechargeable vacuum cleaner, check out his channel. He is restricted from exertion also.
Funny you say that. I have one being delivered as we speak:)
the way ur panning is a clearly tell tell u have no clue what u are doing
👍👍👍
Back at ya!
@@terrybirkholz2794 Thanks🥰
They used to sell thing called the roto pan
Nice gold enjoyed the video
Thanks for looking at it 👍
I like your style!
Low-key, medium tech and realistic. And inexpensive! Thanks, my new friend!
Thanks for that!
looks like you guys had a fun time :)
cool metal detecting day :) ok you picked up a lot of trash :) but like you said it means not a lot of detecting done here lately :)
Keeps a guy going, thats for sure
petty good clean up :) nice picture of the gold :) and one of the best way to get black sand from gold is an item called a blue bowl :)
nice spot :)
very nice :)
nice picker :) also nice pan :)
quite interesting to see it in slo mo :)
looked nice :)
great invention for a sluice :) does the job :) some nice pieces :)
nice clean up :)
looks a nice spot :)
weird ending :) but looked like a fun time :) maybe move a couple of them boulders here and check under for shiny :)
