Dispersed Urban Camping? This wouldn't be tolerated on public lands so why does LA tolerate it?
Просмотров 25214 дней назад
This video was actually sent to me by a friend who has to work in this area every week. Thankfully this wouldn't be tolerated in our National Forests or on any of our Public Lands but why does the City of Los Angles allow it? These "campers" (Most of which are not drivable) and makeshift buildings are blocking public right-of-ways such as streets and sidewalks and I can only image where there b...

Colorado deadliest trail claims another vehicle, almost! Schofield Pass & the Devils Punch Bowl
Просмотров 127 тыс.Месяц назад
This is the first video from our annual trip to Colorado. On this adventure we explorer the White River National Forest as we traverse Schofield Pass Road, Colorado's deadliest road. We found out that this road is no joke as we witnessed a very capable Toyota FJ Cruiser slide off the trail and almost roll down 100' feet into the Crystal River! Thankfully God was watching out for the driver and ...

Solo Overnight at Trinity Lakes with Kayak, fly fishing pole & Starlink! Boise National Forest

In this adventure I continue my exploration of Idaho. In less than 2 hours I am in the Boise National Forest at about 8,000 feet enjoying some scared but beautiful subalpine forests. I am amazed by the amount of water and wildlife in the area as the landscape is still recovering from the 2012 Trinity Ridge Fire. There are not a lot of dispersed campsites in the area but there are several small ...

Oh man all this I believe got burnt in the last fire 😢
Where are they made? Are they out of the plant In Alabama?
Yes, Tuscaloosa
@ thanks!
Dont like to be a stickler, but, you can't be south of Crested Butte and north of Glenwood Springs at same time.
I love offroading in colorado, and watching your video makes me want to go to these mountain passes!
Go for it!
@@advfamily I watched your other Colorado trail videos, you got a new sub! Quality content and story telling!
Awesome, thank you!
You're welcome. :) My favorite cabin and have spent many a birthday there.
One of mine too! Thanks for your service!
Great video guys! Really enjoy watching them as well as the history lessons. By the way, I’m jealous! Stay safe…..
Thanks!
Back in the '60s my grandparents owned a cabin in Guffey. I remember going to see the Devil's Punch Bowl one summer, but the road didn't seem to be that horrific then. We were kids in my grandfather's Jeep. I just remember the "excitement" about looking for the devil at his punchbowl.
Great story, thanks for sharing!
Fuck Colorado! Cant stand that place anymore. Has a horrible energy there nowadays. I avoid that place at all costs lol
I hope trail karma bites you in the ass! I hope others never meet you or your crew on a road; you are a bunch of pussies by not helping.
Did that trail last year...feel like I know where that particular part of the trail is. Strange how they got in that spot. The stretch next to the punch bowl is far more sketch. Great video. Happy Trails!
Thank you!
South of Crested Butte, North of Glenwood Springs? I think you better flip your map over!
You are right! Thanks for catching that.
Great video …from the motorcyclist that went into the punchbowl! Great context to my story :)
Haha .. and just now saw the reference to my fall. I was wondering why my views took a spike over the last month. Cheers
Thanks, but your video is amazing. So glad you were able to walk/swim away from that one!
This is near downtown LA which has been an armpit for years.
Been on small portion of that road .. scary !!😮😅
I'm going to go ahead and assume this whole area is currently closed due to the wildfires. Is there a reliable source for updates on when it eventually is reopened?
Sadly I think it was totally destroyed during the line fire and I would expect the area to reopen until summer of 2025
@advfamily I guess we'll have to wait and see how wet this winter will be. Mudslides are going to be a factor.
I hiked that with gf in the 90's, took a dip in the punchbowl.
Nice!
Clickbait. Don’t watch.
Put that thing in lo and out you go.
People with stupid money to blow will try the stupidest things to prove to themselves that the vehicle they purchased was not way over priced for what it was actually purposed for.
there are a lot of places I went in the past with my 1990 Toyota 4x4 that I will never conceive of going again. It was small, light and maneuverable. My current truck is ... 8' wide and weighs 13 ton ... so I've greatly limited myself which probably keeps me out of trouble
Clickbait title...
2006 4Runner 247,210k miles, owned since 2009and I have NEVER taken my 4Runner to a mechanic, I have NEVER had a breakdown or an equipment failure, EVER. Brakes, oil and a fluid flush is all that has ever been done. Why do you buy JEEPS?
The alternative is much worse. Landlords, Greed did this. 🥶
The biggest problem is untreated addiction and the resistance to shelter.
Deadliest pass is the Schofield pass. A trail named after my last name..I need to try it 😅
Maybe you are related to silver miner B. F. Schofield who it was named after!
Hi, at the beginning you say you are North of Glenwood Springs and South of Crested Butte. Don't you mean South of Glenwood Springs and North of Crested Butte? We live in CB and Schofield Pass is NW of us. I enjoyed your video by the way.
Yes! Thank you!
I still don't understand the addition of music to these type of videos. Oh well - your channel not mine. I wish you success and enjoy your youtube ride.
I drive my Prius on roads like that
Nice!
will my 19 feet long travel trailer hooked to my f350 be okay in there?...i appreciate any advise, planning to go there November 2024
That might be a tight squeeze
The Robinsons were my childhood friends.
The road should be designated at 1 hour intervals for downhill only & uphill only travel. Of course you will get idiots who break a rule like that, & they should automatically be reported & the penalty should be a hefty fine, 3 months suspension & a 2 year ban from all of the States Reserves & Parks. Edit; at 16•08 of the video why does it appear from the wheel speed of the grey wagon that he is in HIGH range 4wd ? Does anyone else think that's the case ?
What the hell is wrong with your heads that you want to even go down a road like this in your vehicle? An ATV or a motorcycle, yes
Insane activities for novices. These truck manufacturers make it too easy to believe anyone can do it! Oh just push rock crawl. And the saw at 60k vehicles… more insanity on top of insanity
It's south of Glenwood springs. Not north!.
Tourists stay home! You don't belong here! Made your beds in cities and suburbs!
Stupid is, as stupid does...
I'm sure a lot of hikers and others enjoy the sound of your damn drone flying overhead.
Shouldn't have been there
Nice trail ! definitely needs to be a one way trail !! Though no where near as sketchy as some of the trails my wife and I offroad on here in British Columbia , Canada, we went down to Washington State in the Okanogan forest near Mazama to do Hart's Pass, only cuz I saw it appear in an MSN article titled 'Worlds deadliest Roads' about 10 years ago. Well, just watching this video, and having done Hart's Pass up to the snowline in late August (WAY past Dead Horse ....), I can tell ya, this road is WAY sketchier than Hart's Pass !!! After we got up to the snowline and turned around to come back down, my wife and I chuckled and said that we've done way worse roads and trails at home ! She wasn't wrong ! I know doing this road would put an end to her going wheeling with me !! LOL !!
Nice! I hope to do some exploring in BC some time!
I live in central Colorado and am a veteran offroader. I did Schofield Pass by myself in a full size Power Wagon... NEVER again in a full size. Could never for the life of me figure out why this trail isn't one way. It is easy to make judgments watching this video but being on site on that trail with the FJ hanging off the edge is something else. You have to be properly equipped and know what the hell you are doing to not risk being pulled over the edge with it trying to do a recovery. I have done dangerous hairy recoveries like that. With no trees very hard to anchor the vehicle to the opposite side of the trail or pull it up sideways back onto the trail.
No. Schofield Pass is not Colorados's deadliest or even scariest road. No it is obvious you are a total novice and know very little about driving 4x4 trails. Nobody had a winch on their vehicle? You have a capable truck, but no real 4x4 driving experience ... now that is dangerous. Inexperience causes all sorts of dumb-ass accidents in Colorado off road country.
They need to widen and pave this road. Funding to do this could be accomplished by installing a toll booth to collect a crossing fee. Additionally, they should install guardrails and assign traffic patrol units to enforce safe driving along the route.
No Dollar Generals or Subways on that trail !! Found myself holding my breath on parts of that trail.
Sry guys… I’m a risk taker but this is the worst risk / reward venture I have ever seen .. what are possibly gaining… what was your risk… this is just old men doing stupid stuff.
Colorados deadliest road is actually a paved two lane road, highway 287, between. Fort Collins, Colorado, and Laramie, Wyoming thanks to high speeds, distractions, and drivers under the influence. Quite a contrast in roads
I see homeless everywhere in CA. "Most other cities" have not figured this out beyond the more affluent cities sometimes moving them into less affluent areas NIMBY style. The mental health crisis is staggering. CA had been clearing out its mental institutions since the 1950s and then Governor Reagan finished that off when he took office. Then he did it nationally as President when he and Congress shelved the Mental Health Systems Act, so here we are. I say bringing back state mental hospitals would be a massive first step towards alleviating the problem for citizens, police (and I know that's a big deal on this page for sure), and the community in general. Yes there are some homeless that just prefer to live like that, and yes there are some criminal elements there too, but I would bet the vast number have some kind of drug/mental health issues that cry out for treatment.
North of Glenwood Springs but South of Crested Butte? 🤔
It's a shame. This video has such good content, but I had to rate it thumbs down for the click-bait thumbnail.
Looks like a fun place to take my sxs.
What the hell is wrong with Ca. The same political party that tolerates this is the same party that supports closing of trails and public lands
Republicans salivate over state control of public lands and the federal government divesting. How long do you think those public lands would be closed off to development under state control, especially in GOP "drill baby drill" led states? That's a recipe for disaster IMO and shreds your veiled attack on the Democratic Party. Teddy Roosevelt would be very disappointed I think. And before you come after me, I vote for both Republican and Democratic candidates for office and policies that align with me. I just think you have this one bass ackwards.
Does anyone know how the FJ got in that situation? Seems like he might have been texting.
