@@wallacesousuke1433 Game logic ≠ Lore power A lot assume it, even though in 99% of the RPG, MMO, Medroidvania and so on, that's not the case. There are countless examples of characters that are very powerful gameplay-wise, although in the story, they aren't especially strong nor mighty. And vice-versa, weak characters in game might be among the most dangerous in the story. I won't list the characters that I know that fit the bill, because we'd be here for hours, and I would be most likely to break the character/word limit on singular RUclips comment (which, apparently, it DOES exist), but know that just because someone is strong in stats, movepool, viability, etc., doesn't mean they are actually that strong in media not-bound to game-specific restrictions like light novels, fanfictions, manga, anime, movies, and so on, and in the reverse direction. And Julius is clearly the example of the reverse: if he wanted, he could've killed Soma without a second thought (Soma himself claimed it), and, get this, he wasn't even nearly at his full power: he was in amnesia for 36 years, most likely pretty rusty in fighting, he was holding himself back the whole time, even when using Grand Cross (which was tearing the astral plane of the castle apart). I'll be honest, I have no idea if there is a character in Castlevania lore who could be *clearly stronger* than full-power Julius; there are some that might be as strong or slightly stronger, like Alucard, but I don't see anyone who could fully surpass him... without having to rely on very specific things like Magic Seals, Dario defeated Julius because old Belmont doesn't know how to do Magic Seals... but apparently that didn't stop Julius from stomping on everyone who didn't need high-tier Magic Seals to be killed.

@@Oscarus4250 in this case both game logic and lore supports my case, Alucard, Soma and Shanoa are leagues above any Belmont, and Julius is incredibly overrated and I would put Richter above him, easily. As for this fight, yeah, Julius could have won, we're literally talking about a seasoned dude with decades of experience and an OP plot device of a weapon vs an amateur kid that just awakened his powers, learned about his true nature and picked up weapons and fought demons/monsters for the first time in his entire young life. Julius couldn't even beat Dario or fight Dracula alone (was helped by Alucard and others) and got serious brain damage or some stuff post-fight (so skilled... lol). The trio I mentioned have everything, and it's backed up by lore: Alucard has mastery of tons of unique, special weapons with OP powers, is Drac's kid, immortal, can shapeshift and become literally invulnerable, can teleport, can steal people's souls (however that works) to heal himself, can fly, run at insane speed as a wolf and has centuries of studies and experience. Soma is Drac incarnated but actually smarter, power of dominance gives him, just like Shanoa's glyphs, access to insane, unrivaled powers, including high speed, healing, summoning demons, flying, impenetrable defense (final guard, mirror world souls/union scutum and arma machina transformation for her), self buffs, shapeshifting, tons of ranged attacks, AoE's (Shanoa has mini-nukes at her disposal lol), mastery over tons of weapon types, mastery over every type of element and ailment. (it still baffles me how people underrate/downplay Shanoa just because he needed Dominus to kill Drac... ofc she needed it, she can't use the plot device called VK, duh). I don't see a single scenario in which Julius would even be able to land a single attack on any of them, let alone beat them fair and square (that's the strangest incongruence in this franchise, the canon protagonists, said to be the most powerful, the only ones destined to save the day, are nowhere near as skilled or well-equipped, dexterous in magic [except for Juste] and melee weaponry as most non-Belmont protagonists or even secondary characters such as Maria, Charlotte and Sypha)

@@wallacesousuke1433 I have doubts on that considering a recently regained memory, older and mentioned by Soma himself holding back Julius seems to be capable of beating him considering Soma beyond just trusting Julius as a Friend at that point also had so much trust in Julius to beat him if he failed to beat Chaos and turned into Dracula. For me it's obvious that a Prime Julius wouldn't exactly keel to those guys in an actual serious battle as you seem to imply.

Tons of characters have beaten Dracula before, especially since Dracula in the games is massively nerfed and makes no sense that he would lose to ordinary whip-wielding humans, but that's a different topic xD I'm just comparing Julius' skills to those of Soma, Alucard and Shanoa, and based on that I can safely conclude that Julius wouldn't be able to even land a hit on any of them, due to their insane speed, variety of ranged attacks, absurd magic proficiency, mastery of several weapons, abilities that grabt them perfect defense/invulnerability, ability to heal themselves, shapeshifting, as well as being able to summon familiars/demons.

​@@wallacesousuke1433Julius is stronger, faster and more experienced than all three of those. "Invulnerability" Julius has Omnia Vanitas which literally makes him phase through solid objects, those fodder pieces of trash aren't doing anything with their silly magic tricks

@@zapperil That makes sense; I always enjoyed boss battles when they feel more like a rivalry, and being of a similar size helps reinforce that.
