Lauridsen: Les Chansons Des Roses - I. en Une Seule Fleur
Brilliant -- the most authentic performance I've ever come across (and I've sung the piece many times too).
I'd love to get my hands on the score of this song 🥹🥹🥹🥹
Mokale Koapeng (b.1963) / Roderick Williams (b.1965) - Khutsho Mokale composed this heartfelt chant for peace in 1988, after years of intense political oppression and resistance in South Africa with no end in sight. When he introduced the piece during one of the first sessions that the two groups spent together, Roddy was moved to write a part for I Fagiolini that would combine Mokale’s piece with another chant for peace with a text from the heart of the Western liturgy, the ‘Agnus Dei’. I added this reference because Roddy is my cousin. I've listened to this song for over 25 years, and it has blessed me through many years. I'm glad that others have been blessed as well. ✝️🙏🏽🔥❤️
Means the world to me
This is incredibly moving and beautiful, well done!!!!!!
How beautiful.
This is an amazing cycle and deserves to stand alongside Samuel Barber’s “Incarnations” and William Schuman’s “Carols of Death”. Thank you for this recording!
The second part of this song… “I only play, I only play” it’s my favorite part of the entire piece by far
1:55
Beautiful
here to thank my college roommate Christoph for introducing me to Chanticleer and to this, it has been with me for twenty years now as an all-time favorite
Too fast and staccato by far. There is no space in this to hear many of the words and BB's sublime harmonies and surprising structure is lost in the trot.
Hi, does someone have the transcript of the solo for the voice?
Nice arrangement ! Where can i get it ?
This is still as fresh as the first time I heard it
For me, the sound of this piece achieves choral perfection. If there are any slight flaws of pronunciation or diction, they are completely erased by the profound beauty, power, and entrancing musicality of this ensemble performance. The arrangement is pure restrained genius and the listening experience utterly transforming. What a gift you have shared. Thank you.
Wonderful, and such an anti-stress treatment .I could listen to it all day.🙂
This is a song about smoking made before the european discovery of tobacco.
What's he smoking 🤔🤔🤔
I can remember my uncle and his cousins,2 of which are brothers, doing this song.they were called The Relatives Sounds.good God I miss hearing them. Now my uncle suffers from Parkinsons disease
Can't stop myself listening to all the compositions of this great Ukrainian composer namely Valentin Silvestrov. Such beautiful sounds he gets from his distinctive Post Modernist/Neo Classical approach to harmony. He deserves to be better known. Orchestral managers should start progamming his music.
So fast 😭
Absolutely wonderful music and so poignant, echoing our thoughts and wishes for Ukraine.
Heavenly music, and a wonderful prayer for Ukraine today
They are singing the Kyrie eleison (part of the Mass) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyrie
…have sung this piece… still makes my hair stand on end… gorgeous…
I sang this under John Rutter at 17 years old at an honors clinic at Missouri University in 1981. It definitely weeded out the weak.

Updated -- thanks for the info!
Sang this song in South Africa in 2012 with the Oregon Adventist Men's Chorus. For this piece we were conducted by the composer Mokale Koapeng.
Ta repredido
The words of this song were written by Daniel Mojapelo. It's sad that he is not recognized for his contribution.
Thank you for the info! I've added Daniel to the description.
This piece of music was played on BBC radio 3; it stopped me in my tracks. Truly sublime, moving and beautiful. I now have the album after perseverance and patience. Thank you for recording. This should be played all over the world every day. Peace and love xx
First time I've heard a male voice choir sing this since leaving Lyons Make Voice Choir years ago. Beautiful!
La musique pour choeurs de Poulenc est vraiment exquise...!
Amém Amém Amém obrigada
Always loved singing this - Sublime. Loved singing those words especially "Oh Dear White Children"
Love the Britten. Thanks Sam! xo

hihihi
Valentinus hanc versionem Dominicae orationis revera in Spiritu et Veritate composuit. Deo gratias!
This is a true testament to how a piece of music can be an experience all its own. I swear I am taken away to some higher plane of existence when I listen to Hymn to St Cecilia.
Awesome! It's busier(appropriately) than Arvo Part works but just as sublime.
Woww 🔥💯
Gorgeous harmony
Something about the melody of this piece reminds me of Rhapsody in Blue. Beautiful piece :)
THIS. IS. THE. MOST BEAUTIFUL ARRANGEMENT. OF THIS PIECE. I HAVE EVER HEARD. IN MY LIFE!!! IF. VAUGH WILLIAMS. HIMSELF DID NOT COMPOSE. THIS. ARRANGEMENT, I'M. QUITE SURE HE WOULD HAVE BEEN PLEASED WITH. IT !!!
Amen
Sang this in undergrad concert choir 30-some years ago, and can still remember every note of the tenor part. And yes, the terror in rehearsals! We were lucky to have a couple of basses with really solid C2. They made the room rumble on "immortal fiiiire"!
God bless'em, never a false note from this choir.
I cannot hear this without weeping openly. It's such a perfect piece. Every note is essential, and nothing extra anywhere. A short but amazing journey.
