Lego Technic Automatic 4-Speed Gearbox
I like to experiment with Lego gearboxes, so when I saw some versions on youtube I knew I had to make my own. It works quite fluid, but the only issue it has currently is that the distances between the gear ratios arent big enough. I have explained everything in this video below, so be sure to watch it if you want to know more about how and how well the gearbox works.

Hello, I made a version with a differential. If I get time, I'll show it to you.
That’s good. Once you know how to use double wishbone suspension and how to get the steering trough the frame you will know how to build these units and how to make them better every time you build them.
can u make a parts list as in the serial numbers because we dont know serial number of these parts and i wanted to order the parts
What are the transmission specs
N: Output for trailer 1st: 4,17:1 2nd: 3:1 3rd: 2,5:1 It doesn’t look like that much of a difference, but you can really see it in the output speed

Nice! Any chance the resistance can be made higher, so it doesn't downshift so easily?
Yes, there should be a possibility to change the resistance from the rubber band, but making it pull tighter feels like it would pull the runber band apart and I can’t find another fitting rubber band. So that’s why I’m going to try to make bigger gear ratios, so there will be more torque and with that less resistance on the differential.

I know you’d probably have to strip out the gearbox, but could you motorise it?
It’s indeed possible and you’d have to strip out the gearbox like you said. I built it without motors because it’s built with only the pieces of the 42110 Land Rover Defender. I could do a quick motorization, but that won’t be included in the upcoming instructions.

The first 8 stands for the total of wheels, the second 8 for the total of driven wheels and the third 8 for the total of steered wheels.

You can make the 4 wheels at the front steer in the opposite direction as the 4 wheels at the rear, but you can also make crab steering, where all the wheels steer in the same direction. Another possibility is to let only the two front wheels and the two rearwheels steer, but than it’s a lot worse…
