Just get any 19 inch 2 1/4 eye handle. And carve it down. Get a house axe handle from whiskey River.
@@aprilnichols2806 I had some non axe people try both axes. They all like the combination of the lite weight head and a 25 handle.
@ it swings easy. They just don’t have a lot of power. I put a 1.7 lb flying fox. On a 24” handle. That’s just been my findings
✌️😂

How long does it take a Hereford heifer to go from calf to full size adult? Also, how old before we can start breeding them (using Artificial Insemination)
pregnancy is 9 months. the dairy side breeds to calve at 2 years of age. beef guys breed in a combination of age and weight and when they want to be calving and when they want to be able to market them. we calve year round, its not that different than still being a dairy farm. that heifers first calf just hit a year old or is about to, maybe 11 &1/2 months. and she just calved again , with that brown one. if your feeding some ground corn and hay is available. and your grazing them, pushing them for all you can. that first calf, i've been kicking them out at 21 to 22 months. on those first calvings, i miss doing it a.i. so you know exactly when they are due. it can be a little stressfull getting that first one. you do loose a few, a pinned shoulder back. but the calves are smaller and easier to pull. the herford crosses, are alot calmer than the all blacks. when your handling them. it's like they know your there to help. the black breeds are a little more vigerous nursing. herfords are like a cross of beef and dairy. i'm butchering at 24-26 months. my last hanging weight was 477 pounds on a half.
i can get a weaned steer to 575-625 in about 6 months, with our 3 -4 way crosses.
@@sandsock Thanks for explaining this in detail. We considered crossing with Red Angus but now have changed our minds, will keep them Hereford (our neighbours don't cross, so following their lead)
@@LowSkillFarmer i would like to bring in a red angus. you might want to be asking what the hanging weights are for different breeds. i think the herfords usually add length. one of my neighbors says the red angus handle our heat and humidity better, than the blacks.
@@sandsock interesting
I would call Camemega and see if they'll work with you on these issues. If not, I'd either buy another H3 or get a Suunto MC2. I have both, and as prior military, I really like the H3. I also have an MC2 and am really pleased with it as well. You can't go wrong with either one. I agree that maybe you simply got a "lemon".
The 4 things listed by Modern Refugee was: Chainsaw, Firearm, Vehicle, Generator
Sounds like a lemon (hopefully), and it honestly should be a warranty case. In any case the whole unit probably should be replaced. While I like the lensatic compass I have come to favour the Suunto MC-2 (mirror baseplate) and even more so the Suunto MB-6 (robust swiss military sighting compass, formerly the Recta DP 6 before Suunto bought Recta). Actually, there is a nice overview on the MB-6 that came out recently on the channel “The Map Reading Company”, if you’d like an introduction to that compass.
He does a good job on that MB6 vid. i've been thinking about picking up a brunton truarc 20 for something specific. it may hold up better.
The phosphorescent line on my Commenga is really dull. I had no luck dealing with Commenga. I hope I have better luck than you. Fingers crossed.
Would you say 2024 was a bad year but 2023 was a "bump crop" ?
i think 23 was a bumper for corn and beans. 24 corn is broke down to 3 plantings extremely early, on time and reallly late for the state. roughly 1/3s. early guys maybe a bumper. on time 5-8 year average for our acres. maybe 10 year average for the state. beans late planted and 2nd crop i believe is a fail.
@@sandsock Wow, so it "paid" to be early this year
Same down here in the SW corner of Ohio
Oh my I miss growing corn in Ohio. Gree up working on a farm for the Hills in Racine. Best time of my life. Now I live in wv,and always have a garden. What breed of corn would you recommend if someone wanted good corn on the cob sweet bi color corn? If you have a recommendation,I would greatly appreciate hearing it.
i think my buddy grew ambrosia, i think its bicolor. i'm just learning on sweet corn. we tried some bi/ peaches and cream and silver queen. the coons were pretty bad and targeted the yellow and bi harder than the silver. 115 lbs urea and 50 liquid 28. my buddy just uses amonia sulfate and pig poop. he just gets lucky
@@sandsock thank you, that's the 3rd time I've heard Ambrosia recommended,I'm going to try it now. Really appreciate ya.
Thanks for explaining hay situation and options to consider. We are getting our own cows this year(?) Before it was another farmer's cows from only May - October, so never did hay nor frozen water situation. Got 3 lambs in May to "practise" this winter but now looks like we may get 8 Hereford heifers too!
We're trying different things to stretch acres and feed. I grind a batch of corn and add a bale of straw. It fluffs the feed. Less weight for volume, extending the grain and can sell more wfor cash. Wheats about the cheapest thing you can plant. You can bale it graze it or combine it. I think with wheat straw bedding. It will help with phosphorus for corn. I think wheat is under utilized .. you might want to check out vesser cattle company. He is doing some things like a generation or 2 back. That's where I think everyone is going to be going
@@sandsock Yesser Cattle Company does wrapped hay, I think we need to do that to start. Also, if you had to guess, how many bales of hay do 8 Herefords need a day?
@@LowSkillFarmer just depends. Graze as much as you can now .so they don't need much. With about 35 cows and calves. Usually I use about 1 round bale every 24 hours. When it gets sub freezing they need more. About 15 small squares are equal to 1of my round bale. You can do some crude math.
@@sandsock Ok, thanks for explaining
Put a magnet on the silenoids ?
Not everything is a damn conspiracy!!
i agree, not everything is a conspiracy. but its pinned flags on the board. we had the fbi in for 2 weeks investigating the hack.
A lot is though 39
I know the auto parts shortages have gotten much better BUT the quality is not as good. I believe our one auto manufacturer may be using gray market parts in a lot of their replacement parts now. We also notice much cheaper packaging. Hell some parts just come in a bag now instead of a box.
