How do you know where to setup the doorglass apparatus ? Just got this tool from my shop yesterday. I understand the setup of the glass bar, but the door part is hanging me up
Did you watch the video all the way, I'm explaining how to set up the door apparatus according to the bar from the windshield. It's in the first minute and a half of the video
@@vadimrudachenko1680 I guess I didn’t understand what you meant
Nice work
My wife has a massive crack that im unable to fill, i need someone like you to help me out!
Do you always have to progress from bottom to top when repairing a crack?
Delta kits 100% I have 3
do you think this can be done again, I noticed there is some air in certain areas of the line?
I got that same bridge
Very helpful. This is great. Thank you!
Thank you for one of the best videos on spider crack windshield repair. Odd question: if the chip that created the break was from the inside, do you have to seal the cracks from the inside of the windshield, or do you still treat it from the outside? I feel like if there is a coating of some sort on the outside of the windshield, the resin may not penetrate…but I also think if it is cracked, then it is cracked through and through and you could repair it from either side. Thoughts?
You should not repair cracks on the inside . Easier to replace.
How can you tell if a crack is on the outside or inside?
Easiest to use the tip/corner of a razor blade and run it perpendicular across the crack. If it’s smooth the crack is on the opposite side. If it catches you found your crack side
Thank you. Great job showing before and after. The end result is the most important part. You can barely see any cracks.
Hopefully the crack on my windshield stops and don't keep sgrowing at least until next winter, the price for a replacement is $1000 dlls (yes I have insurance but it's a @#$%) I must pay in full.
@Crack Attack Auto Glass Again very nice job on filling in that big Star chip, and the second one as well. Can you please tell me what is the viscosity of the Diamond Clear resin you used on those chips, thanks.
@Crack Attack Auto Glass You did an awesome job, you took your time and I'm glad I got to see the Crack Resin from Glass Technologies in use, it performs very well. And I normally use a Lighter on chips and cracks to cure the resin and to seal it. but the UV light is the best option for it with the proper amount of heat. Also the Q' Tip is a good option although i believe it sucks up too much resin than what is needed, and the rest goes to waste. I recently acquired the set of 3 crack jacks from GT tools and dont know if they are placed right on the crck or on the side. Great tip on keeping the injector on the pressure cycle when filling in cracks. High 5
what an excellent video. Great commentary, effective camera handling and no Umms, "like", etc. Great job on making this process be easily understood for us DIYers who don't want to spend $$$$ on having someone else fix cracks.
Thoroughly explained, and you did fantastic job!
Where did you buy your glass stand?
On Facebook marketplace, pretty sure it's a Safelite stand.
It is a safelite stand
I recently had a small chip on my windshield that turned into a long crack. I called a local glass repair shop for help. They drilled a hole at the end of the crack but didn't fill it as I expected. Instead, they applied resin all over the crack with plastic film to cover it. Unfortunately, the crack continued to grow even after paying extra for the "repair." Feeling frustrated, I searched for solutions online and came across your video. Your method seemed logical, so I called the shop again letting them know the the crack continued to grow they told me to bring it in the next day, I suggesting we make another hole and use a windshield repair kit with resin applying resin with a q tip. However, they dismissed the idea and were unwilling to try it, they said they don't work that way in their shop. So, I asked them to simply drill a new hole for me, and I would handle the repair myself. When I got home, I used a windshield repair kit and carefully applied resin along the crack with a Q-tip. It took some time, but the results were much better than what the professionals did. Although the crack isn't completely invisible, it's a significant improvement. I wanted to thank you for sharing your video. It truly solved my problem. It's unfortunate how some so-called professionals can be arrogant and dismiss good advice. While I thought about showing them my successful repair, I believe their ego might prevent them from accepting it. Thank you again for your helpful guidance.
How much did they charge for what they did?
@@MajorCulturalDivide 60 dollars . but then i messed up i went into one of those mobile car washes and the it made the crack go further no more mobile car washes for me
If I can get something done for 60 dollars that would be worth it. I have a 2002 Honda so I'm not going though any car washes. I even doubt my body would make it to the other side.
I want to buy this because I need this immediately
Cqn you tell me where I can buy this ?
Delta kits windshield repair
Do you clean the windshield before this???....also how do you feel of a 3 year old crack from side to side
3 year old crack is a no go for me . You want to avoid any contamination to achieve a perfect repair
@Vadim Rudachenko yea I'm rusty my self I use to do the repairs for a company called windshield pros North I was actually pretty good or atleast there crack repair guy.......I don't think they ever let us repair anything this size .....I actually never saw the q tip tric before any tips on getting back into gear that I might of forgotten?.... I remember using sometimes a lighter to heat up just a little........
@@fernandolarios4504 lighter is good to get rid of moisture, only time I would use a lighter is when I draw vacuum, this will help to evaporate any moisture. Never use the heat on pressure cycle . Also heat will tend to close up the crack and make it look filled, but when it cools it will open up again
The tape you use is 3M transparent tape ? How about showing us how to drill fella. The tools you use are what type and glue what is best ??? Nice video too.
Mine still shows but it's about 60 percent better than before. Wonder if I put more resin. It's a hairline crack about 12 inches that curves. It won't spread since I drilled the holes perfectly.
Great work. When are you coming over to the UK , my Lotus needs it’s crack repaired? Excellent video, explained well with no rush and lots of confidence. This man knows his stuff. What was the make of the liquid you used?
Thank you! The liquid is called glass repair resin, it is a polymer the reacts to a UV light, allowing it to cure in seconds.
@@vadimrudachenko1680 hi , is there a particular brand of resin you use? ....there are soo many available, Id rather use the best
I like Delta
Good job. How i wish i saw this video before attempting to diy my windshield. This helps alot like using the qtips and and the pressure from inside. Do you have any video about drilling?
Thanks for the info you share..
🙌🏼
I like it ! It works every time ?
Are you asking if it's working?
Can long cracks be repaired with out the jacks? Where can I buy them? Do you have links where I can buy a kit?
No jacks needed , but if resin slows you will need to flex the crack from the inside of the car
Great work 👍🏼
Paano po tanggalin ang dry resin from car paint without damaging?
Nice one
what if you have a horizontal crack, do you need to drill?
can you provide links where to get the tools / materials?
Delta kits , Glass weld , GT tools
How can you get the resin to fill the crack with the Q tip? Doesn't there have to be pressure so that the resin can get down in there?
Nope , gravity works . You can repair some small chips with out injector as well , put a drop of resin on it flex with a probe and watch it fill
@@crackattackautoglass1740 On the small hole you drilled, do you fill it first? My crack was vertical then took a turn going up? Where do you recommend that I start?
@@ariesfire2690 start from the impact point
What is weeking please ? You said it a few times.
Wicking , is a process of applying resin on the surface of the crack and allowing it to wick ( fill) the crack with out the use of an injector. Pretty much what I was doing with the q-tip
Price ??
Nice that you can use your vanish over your delta. Vanish has nice long legs😊
Amazing video for pro grade crack repair! I do feel for curing removing the jacks would be better, as after removing the jacks the windscreen is back to its actual curve shape and will expel excess resin. If you care it with jacks, there will be some pressure on the screen forever (not saying it will result is something superbad) so maybe its best to have the glass in its actual form without nay tension embedded.
Good point!!
Thanks for the video. It's possible to make this repair without the crack jack ?
Yes, however you might need to flex the glass from inside if the resin doesn’t flow
Fresh crack is the best!😃
Do you need to inject for a small star crack or can you just use the qtip with resin to repair? Do you have video showing star crack repair. Thanks for your help
For star repair you will need an injector of some sort , also on the stars you will need to carefully flex every leg of it to make sure resin fill it
Hi there, thanks for posting this video, I tried to repair my crack but there wasnt enough sunlight, and the resin is all cured now. Ie I ruined my diy windshield repair. My question sir is how can I undo this repair?? Thanks
Hello, unfortunately there is no way to undo it, once the polymer get exposed to UV light it hardens and cannot be removed or dissolved.
That's why I always recommend to do those repairs in the garage or with an UV blocker shield
@@crackattackautoglass1740 what if I heated up the glass with a heat gun and tried to get it out with nylon brush??
@@charnpalgrewal6202 🤣 🤣 are you trying to make it worse than it already is?
WHAT THE HELL IS A CRACK JACK AND HOW TO USE IT>HIS EXPLANATION ABOUT THE TOOLS HE IS USING IS NOT HERE>
Crack jack or crack expander is that blue bar on the inside of the windshield , it has two suction cups and a rubber tip in the middle that creates tension on the crack
BEST video I've seen and works better than any I've see -- many were complete failures. Please accept the following CONSTRUCITIVE CRITIQUE. I have my volume turned full high, but still missing SEVERAL words presented in the video. First minute or so, "DRILL AND POP ... " What is "pop" and later what effort used with Crack Jack to prevent the jack furthering the crack. Mostly volume quite low, no background noise in my room, but straining to understand quite a bit of your explanations, yet still missing several. Yes, I'm and old phart and veteran with poor hearing, but there are a lot of us out here with that same issue -- and many like me who lost that hearing while teens (rifle fire, guns in general, and especially working near an artillery or mortar battery tends to have no mercy on hearing.s. THANK YOU FOR THE WONDERFUL PRESENTATION. MOST GRATEFUL!
What kind of tape do you use?
Mylar tape , delta kits or gt tools sells it.
Thanks for your efforts in catching up with the focus, imagine it’s a patience trial, but we would have much more action if you’d have rather used a steady phone holder or similar!
For sure , it was a spur of the moment type video. I'll try to recreate with fixed camera or two 😉
