What happens if my patch ends up uneven to the existing drywall after I screwed all backing and patch ??? Like some parts of the patch stick out and some parts existing drywall does the opposite!!?? I don’t know if that makes sense!!!

Awesome channel. We have a home from the 50s and i need to redo some cracks. Seems like they didnt use tape and did a cheap jobs hence the old cracks came back. Should I still cut out the v then use tape and joint compound? Suggestions? I dont mind learning,thank you! Awesome video-super helpful!

I been using fiba tape for my patches it works well.

My major change is I take off the paper on both sides, sand down below grade then apply the patch tape . This allows me to apply way more mud than is above grade, then sand to flush. So yes... wood back. but take off paper face on patch and wall so you never see the patch. This Drove My Dad NUTS. My Uncle showed me how to patch a custom car panel...but my Dad didn't comprehend having a panel patched 4mm above grade or looking down a quarter panel and SEEING it stick up 4mm above the rest of the car. You Just make it flush and you save a bunch of time trying to get the rest of the car/wall to level. Anyone can patch a wall. Once it is painted, as far as I have seen, very few people know how to make it look like Frankenstein has not done an experiment on the patch.

I am just an old diy farmer. 7. 8 bucks for a 2x4. I buy native (some call it rough cut or full dimensional). The Amish guy down on Cook Rd sells me what ever size I need at $0,62/brft. He rounds then all down to the nearest quarter so that he does not have to have a lot a change in his pocket. He has three boys 8, 10. 14. He cuts they sell and lead. Ya an 8 yr old can carry a 2x8 or ever 10 if not to wet. When I go over there I buy what ever he has not cut for someone else on order. It comes home goes into my drying shed and when it come out i use it as to its quality. The really good pieces go to my work shop. I am 76 today and am slowing down. For the last 5 yr been turning the placed over to my GKid. She does most everything now. I putter in my work shop and drive a tractor. My body get sore fast so I cant do much anymore but tinker here and there. Lucky this is a farm and there si a lot of tinkering to be done or I would get very bored very fast
