The next season the Permian panthers went on to win state and becoming considerably the best team in Texas hs football ever. They shutout 5 teams in regular season went into playoffs out scoring opponents 408-12. They swept through the playoffs by a combined 191-36 and going on to win state 28-14 vs Houston Aldine finished the season a perfect 16-0
Loved Armstead at Miami! Somebody needs to remind Jesse that they only beat one of Permian's weakest editions because of a super obvious, comical bad call. Carter wasn't even a top 10 team in the country that year, let alone the best of all time. Take it easy, bro!

Dallas Carter got beat! Look at the horrible call referee made on a dropped pass ref called completed pass. Some bull shit clear as water! That horrible bad call put Dallas Carter in a positon to win game. If call was made correctly, other team would of won. The game was played in a monsoon basically. It made the game close because it negated one of our strengths, which was speed. On a good weather day, it would not have been close.

He shouldn't have even gone there. That Dallas Carter team wasnt' even top 100 of all time. They got extremely lucky in their '88 game against Permian when a ref let them keep a drive alive after one of their receivers more or less dribble-bounced a pass off the ground. They were BARELY better that that weakened Permian team. What they had was a bunch of barely coached mega-talent playing as individuals.
There are a thousand better high school teams over the decades.

You are correct. That Houston Yates would have demolished this Carter team, they beat Permian team by 37 while this Carter team had to have an official call on a reception that CLEARLY bounced off the ground against a lesser Permian team than the one in 85.

Permian was ALWAYS out sized by every opponent back then, there may have been a couple players using but the program was not built on steroids. The school was winning and playing for state championships long before the 80's.

Southwest Dekalb '89 would drag these boys and they didn't win the State title that year. Valdosta did. I wasn't impressed by Dallas Carter. They were decent. Jess Lanier 1990 would beat Dallas Carter...Vigor won the National title that year. Southwest '89 sent 33 kids to college. Stop it!!!!!

DLS is a prep school . He is talking about public schools who zone kids to their respective school. Besides Euless Trinity from Texas beat DLS last year and DLS was loaded. FYI Trinity is a public school also.
