    Regular fantail goldfish and the multi colored ones are calico fantails. The black one was probably a Black Moore. The species is goldfish the “ variety” is fantail. Be careful bc most other fish will nip their fins. Just because. If they are rubbing their bodies, that’s not a good sign. They’re trying to rub off probably a common disease called ick.

Even piranhia are keeping in group😅 so don't do this to him/her buy some friends ❤ it will help you to see an interesting behavior when it's in school😊

I had no issues. But when I got 2 more, hell broke loose because the original ones already established territory

    • @GrowingUpFish
      @GrowingUpFish 18 дней назад

      Great question! Fortunately, I haven’t experienced any aggression between my figure 8 and green spotted puffers. They’ve been coexisting peacefully, likely because I’ve made sure to give them plenty of space and hiding spots in the tank. Proper tank setup and monitoring their behavior closely are key to keeping things harmonious. If you’re thinking of keeping puffers together, just keep an eye on them and be ready to make adjustments if needed! 😊🐡

      Thanks for subbing! Pea puffers are amazing little fish, but they can be quite territorial, especially in smaller tanks. I learned the hard way with mine-one ended up dominating the other, which unfortunately didn’t end well. To cycle a tank you also need to add a food source aka fish food, you need something to produce an ammonium spike so that the bacterial colonies kan evolve and counter that stuff.

    • @GrowingUpFish
      @GrowingUpFish 18 дней назад

      Great point! Adding a food source like fish food is definitely important for cycling a tank-it helps create the ammonia spike needed to grow beneficial bacteria. Cycling is all about establishing a balance, and providing ammonia is a key step in that process. Thanks for sharing this tip-it’s a valuable addition for anyone watching the video and setting up their tanks!

    • @GrowingUpFish
      @GrowingUpFish 18 дней назад

      Great question! Parrot cichlids are active swimmers and can grow quite large, so a 75-gallon tank like mine is a great size for them. If you’re keeping multiple parrot cichlids, this size gives them plenty of space to establish territories and reduce aggression. For a single parrot cichlid, a minimum of 30 gallons is recommended, but bigger is always better to keep them happy and healthy!

    Mine only eat snails. Have you gotten yours to take any other food?

    • @GrowingUpFish
      @GrowingUpFish 18 дней назад

      Pea puffers can be picky eaters, but mine have a bit more variety in their diet. Along with snails, they eat bloodworms and frozen krill. Introducing different foods slowly can help broaden their diet-pea puffers tend to go for foods that mimic their natural prey. Glad to hear yours are enjoying snails though; it’s a great staple for them!

  • @bigfroggy22

    Nice puffers! Do you think you could sneak a second pea puffer into that 5 gallon? I read they are territorial and need their own space and am using a 5 gallon to learn. I was going to only get one but with how tiny they are I feel like two would be fine. No?

    • @GrowingUpFish
      @GrowingUpFish 18 дней назад

      Thanks for the compliment on the puffers! In my experience, I tried adding a second pea puffer to a 5-gallon tank, and it didn’t go well. They are surprisingly territorial, especially in smaller tanks, and one ended up dominating the space, leading to stress for the other. If you’re considering more than one, I’d recommend upgrading to at least a 10-gallon tank with plenty of plants, hiding spots, and line-of-sight breaks to help reduce tension. For a single pea puffer, your 5-gallon setup should work perfectly! It’s great that you’re researching first-your fish will thank you for it! 😊

    • @GrowingUpFish
      @GrowingUpFish 18 дней назад

      I appreciate your input! While it's true that pea puffers can sometimes be more comfortable in groups, they are still quite territorial. In my experience, a single pea puffer in a 5-gallon tank works well due to their small size and territorial nature. If you plan to keep more than one, I’d recommend a larger tank, like a 10-gallon, with plenty of plants and hiding spots to help with the territorial issues. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! 😊

    I've had figure 8s, green spotted and even dwarf puffers, and they're great. Bumblebee gobies do well with them, and I also had mollies. Have some moss to float around and molly fry can hide from the puffs. Brackish is pretty fun to do, but some plants don't do too well in them, so it's something you have to play with what does and doesn't work. Makes me want to do brackish again!

    How many times per month u have to do water changes? And can u make a video about PH and KH?

    • @GrowingUpFish
      @GrowingUpFish Месяц назад

      Great question! 😊 For most tanks, a weekly water change of around 20-30% keeps things balanced, but it depends on your tank size, stocking level, and plant density. Some low-stocked tanks can go longer, but frequent changes help maintain stable water quality. And yes, a pH and KH video is a great idea! I’d love to dive into how these levels impact fish health and how to manage them with tips for beginners and advanced aquarists. Thanks for the suggestion-stay tuned!

    My wife used stratum as in substrate in her 130l tank and it totally crashed the pH and KH.. PH went from 7.4 to 6,, KH to 1 degree. Slowly raising up the KH with crushed coral.. Of course it was our own fault for not reading the pack which says lowers pH..

    • @GrowingUpFish
      @GrowingUpFish Месяц назад

      Thanks for sharing your experience! Stratum can definitely have a strong impact on pH and KH, especially in a large setup like your wife’s 130L tank. It’s easy to miss those details on the packaging, but adding crushed coral to buffer the KH is a solid plan to gradually bring stability back. These situations are such good learning moments for all of us in the fishkeeping community. Hope things balance out soon-let us know how it goes!

      I think soils are overrated and can cause a lot of problems, also you have to replace them every 2 years or so. For more than 30 years I use fine gravel 1-2 mm inert soil with root tabs where plants root in the soil. Fine gravel is inert and becomes more fertile over time by fish and plant waste, adjust your root tabs to that.

Their aggression can catch you off guard! Anyone else have experiences or tips to share? Always great to hear from the community!

    Wonderful video and beautiful fish. Your narration was on point. They all look quite content and healthy. I'm setting up a 60 gallon and I've always been interested in puffers and elephant nose fish so I'm hoping one of these species is suitable in the near future. Thanks a million!!

      Thank you so much! I really appreciate your kind words! Puffers and elephant nose fish are both fascinating choices. Just make sure to research their compatibility and tank requirements, especially since puffers can be a bit territorial. A 60-gallon tank should be a nice space for them! If you have any questions as you set it up, feel free to ask. Good luck, and I can’t wait to hear how it goes!

    Great content. Do you have a pathos growing out of that tank?

      Thanks for the compliment! Yes, I do have pothos growing out of the tank! It really thrives in that setup and helps keep the water clean. Plus, it adds a nice touch to the overall look. Are you thinking about trying it in your own tank?

      @GrowingUpFish Yes! I have successfully grown peace lilies and monsters Swiss cheese plants so far, but I have never tried pathos. I have a wall I would love to run the plants up from the aquarium. How did you successfully get past root rot or melting? Did you preprep the plants?

    I'm glad to see your focus on pufferfish. You never find much practical information for day to day care and growth rates for aquarium raised species.

      I really appreciate that! It’s true-there's often a lack of practical info on daily care and growth rates for aquarium-raised puffers. I’m glad to provide insights that can help others! If you have specific questions or topics you’d like to see covered, let me know. It’s great to connect with fellow puffer enthusiasts!

      Haha, right? The pothos really loves that setup! It’s such a great plant for aquariums-it helps with water quality and adds a nice touch to the tank. Plus, it’s pretty low maintenance! If you’re considering adding any plants, pothos is definitely a winner. Do you have any plants in your tank?

    Hey great video, but I have a little constructive criticism. You need a better audio solution, this setup sounds a little harsh. The video itself was great though!
