I first played the OG in '97. and since then it's still my favorite game. Both Remake and Rebirth have more than a few flaws, but after what I've experienced so far, it looks like this trilogy might be my number one pick in the future. As for the critics, I agree that this game will not appeal to (to put it mildly) someone who hates Aerith and simps for Tifa. I'm glad the devs aren't one of those types of people and it looks like they know what they're doing.

I have seen the Aerith good bye church scene countless of times by now, and every time I see Aeriths expression as the outline of Sephiroth appears in the doorway a shudder runs from my forehead to my back. It is the most Impactful moment of the game. With the other occurrence Aerith is a more passive Subject to what is happening and it is more about how Cloud and Co are handling it, but here it is all about how Aerith faces it and it is hauntingly well done: the pain and sorrow in her face through her composure and acceptance. Her taking in the long goodbye in Clouds clueless arms, just a little longer for then to be broken off by her abruptly distancing herself, followed by her pushing him away completely. The gut wrenching "It has been fun" as Cloud finally understands what this is all about as he is rendered unable to do something on purpose. Oh Aerith.

3:26:10 This really did feel like the last part, in places. They set the bar incredibly high with Rebirth and there are so many mysteries to resolve. Here's to hoping Reunite will deliver.
