Hello! I am a young adult railfan based in the Detroit, MI area with mainlines of four Class I Railroads all within 10 miles of me. (CN, NS, CSX, CPKC) My most visited spots are Wyandotte, Trenton, and Romulus, But I occasionally branch out and travel to other locations both in Michigan and outside of Michigan! Late Night Railfanning in Metro Detroit- Featuring NS 1073 and the 2nd to Last NS 255
Had a couple friends ask me if I wanted to join them in Romulus for a late night outing for RoadRailers. Not the very last two, but for them it was their last chance to see them they couldn’t come out the following night for the finale. 
And then a somewhat expected, but pleasant surprise on NS 189, it had beat up NS 1073 on point. We hoped that it would lead 255, but it ended up being old soldier Dash 9. Which I’ll take any day, since they are quickly fading and being rebuilt.

I ventured back out to Deshler on 7/19 briefly, and was able to record this week’s crossing tour in the quiet time. The Main St. crossing on the Toledo Subdivision has a great variety of different equipment across both signals. @RoyalKingOfTheRails put together a meet up on the Holly Sub in Royal Oak, and about 15-20 people showed up! Definitely a bit slow with only 4 trains running through in the 6 hours I was there, but we still had a great hanging out with each other. The signal on the other side doesn't work!!
@@TPNWR10 It does. This is a 4 way crossing. Or a crossing at an intersection with two roads. There’s 4 signals. 2 on each circuit. So on 1 circuit both gates were up so those signals shut off. Meanwhile the gate that was stuck kept the other circuit activated. So the other signal in that circuit was also on. Not all 4 signals

I found out they had the mast signal bell replaced again
What caused the malfunction?
@@amandap569 The on call CN maintainer who showed up said it was a CSAO problem, and that CN’s signals lost connection with CSAO’s. which probably activates CN’s signals as a failsafe
I heard they took the bell off again.
From my experiences at the Romulus Diamond, traffic does pick upat night. Think the last train I caught on the Wabash was back in 2016 was when NS 8099 was solo on 172

Did they get the new gated signal put up yet after what happened?
@@jakubowski2008 Yep! You can see it at the end of the video when the CSAO signals shut off and the gates go up. It’s definitely a reused cantilever with older Safetran fading LEDs
