A dramatic production of Charlotte's Web, with an all-dog cast. Working on a shorter version since I meant for this to be a submission to the 90-Second Newbery Festival and it's obviously way longer than 90 seconds. But they're good dogs.

Author Video - Lynne Kelly on Chained
Просмотров 1 тыс.10 лет назад
I made this author video about my children's novel, Chained, for my Penguin India editor, who wanted something in addition to the trailer to present to her co-workers. It's different from the trailer in that it's me briefly talking about the book, though I incorporated some of the photos from the trailer. This could be used as a video book talk to introduce the novel to readers.

My contribution to the 90-Second Newbery Festival. Here's a conversation that might have taken place if Brigette knew what an uproar the word "scrotum" would have caused. This was terribly funny. I am not an interpreter yet and I wonder if people really go through this. Right now I have to do this for homework but this makes me realize that hearing people sometimes can be this dumb.

    But I don't get it. Why wouldn't the sign for "apple" be the same for English or Japanese sign language? Even if "ringo" is Spoken Japanese for "apple," there's nothing saying the sign can't be the same. Same way with "Sorry." Different spoken language, same sign even if the local spoken languages are different. I would have done it that way. Maybe the only difference would be finger spelling.

    • @lynnekelly2000
      @lynnekelly2000 4 года назад

      Because languages are developed by the populations of people who use them. Deaf people in Japan wouldn’t have known what those in the US were signing for “apple” or anything else, and that probably wouldn’t have been of interest to them anyway back when the first deaf people communicated by signing. I don’t know how that would happen that people all over the world would use the same language or even the same signs, being separated by such distance. Spoken languages vary from place to place so I’m not sure why anyone expects signed languages to be any different

    This is messed up its basically making fun of deaf people because that's not how you do sighn language. even if this is just for fun it still may insult people like me becasue my mom is deaf and I have family member that are deaf too. so I understand what they have to go through

    • @lynnekelly2000
      @lynnekelly2000 7 лет назад

      It isn't making fun of deaf people; it's a humorous exaggeration of the kinds of questions interpreters get all the time. It also isn't meant to show sign language or what deaf people go through, and there aren't any deaf characters in the video. It's an interpreting video.
