Travel spots to visit by train for under £100 + £150 return
Here's 8 travel spots in Europe you can get to by train from London on a budget. I explain how you can get there by train and/or ferry and how much the journeys cost. From beach holidays to culture infused city breaks I include a variety of places all of which you can get to within a day.
I hope this is helpful! Please bear in mind these costs are when you book in advance (around 2/3 months) and make sure you use the low fare finder on Eurostar's website.
A few years ago I quit flying for holidays and since then whenever I go away I travel by land or sea, mainly by train or ferry. I’m hoping that by showing how much more of an adventure it is to take the train rather than flying will inspir...

Climate activism is on the rise....but how far is too far?
Просмотров 959Год назад
This autumn/winter climate activism is on the rise and I've been wrangling with questions like 'how far is too far to stop catastrophic climate breakdown?' and 'do actions like this actually work?' So I decided to do some research into the political philosophy around this topic and share what I found with you. I delve into historical movements which also used civil resistance tactics and examin...

I'll have to correct you on the Stockholm sleeper: the carriage with the double bed suite was a stopgap to cover for the delayed refurbishment of the originally intended carriages. It lasted until summer last year.

You should have shot the scenery outside the train much longer. The views of greenery and lushness is astounding. I took this trip in 1990. May be you both were not yet born.

There's something so uplifting and relaxing about your videos, and they make me feel like I'm actually there. I hope you resume making them although I see you've put out some shorts recently. I'm thinking of taking my mom on this train next year, probably in late winter, in the opposite direction, and hopefully also on several other scenic Swiss routes like the ones from Montreux to Interlaken and from Lucerne to Lugano and then onto Milan. We have very few routes like these in the USA, with some notable exceptions like the California Zephyr and Empire Builder. Happy travels!

You are brave indeed as I've never had luck sleeping in a couchette compartment no matter how nice. I'm a bit of a toss 'n turner and sleeping in a compartment with strangers and having to be careful to not make too much noise has always made it hard for me to fall asleep in them. All the more so if there's no shower on board or in the station. But, it does save you time and hotel expenses so if one can sleep well in them, so much the better.

Can you please suggest by train to Nice from London. If it works out cheap of course I will go by train. Sarah you are probably the best person on train travels. Best wishes from Leicester England

This is great. Is kinda annoying that just a few years ago dutch German and French railways were closing their sleepers.Only Austria kept the dream alive before this resurgence of privately funded sleeper companies.

Lovely video and presentation indeed! Now you must come back to your "home land" also in the summer time and see Stockholm but also other places. You will find a totally different landscape and experience that the one during the winter time (ofc) . If you come please pass my home town as well as it is enroute to Stockholm from Malmö and its called Jönköping and is situated on the Southern tip of the second largest lake in Sweden, Lake Vättern. Should you need somewhere to stay dont hesitate to get in touch as I have a house on the banks overlooking the lake as well :-) Cheers! Joakim :-) ruclips.net/video/rxct1B0IIUQ/видео.html

I enjoy your video, and I have to think, how nice you are able to get around Europe via train, Here, in America, it takes 3 or 4 days to get coast to coast. And during that time, one has to endure cramped seating or tiny cabins and a lot of microwave food. And, plenty of delays, because most of our routes share the rails with massively long freight trains.

  • @rbashta

Most of the trains I've seen running in Europe look so much nicer than the ones we have here in the U.S. Unfortunately, we're stuck with AMTRAK, which is aways running behind the times with the kind of equipment they operate. Thanks for your series which showcase the kind of routes and trains running over there.

You have no idea how long it took me to come across a video on this talking specifically about a route to Milan’s city center. But just to confirm, does the Berina express ride directly into Milan? I’ve found some contradictory posts (from about a year ago) that said the train no longer runs into Milan and that you have to get off and board a local regional train to ride into Milan. Also, any routes that go to Rome?

  • @missym877
    @missym877 7 месяцев назад

I think it’s a bit misleading to tell people the train is faster when it’s not. From London to Paris it will take you 2-3 hours. It’s about half that time on a plane. The train MAY be faster if you factor in commute time to the airport but that’s a big iff, based on things like traffic congestion, distance from hotel to airport etc. Overall though, the train is still imo a better recommendation for people who really want to maximize their time in Europe. Because it lets you really feel as if you’ve seen so much of the continent, even if you’re only staying in each city for a few days.

5:30 that is sea, but looks like a lake. It is called Karin Sea. It is connected with the rest of Adriatic through a narrow inlet. Fun fact, that small sea leads to an even smaller sea through another inlet, so there is two of them, chained one after another.
