Getting into the top 2 of the continental rankings matters a lot, with regards to which races is available next season, and hence the possibility of snowballing. As the season is nearing the end, and the top 2 isn't secure, every point matters.

That's what I thought, but he isn't. I was given control of Canada and didn't select him, went back and checked my raw footage and confirmed he wasn't there. Plus, the game regularly forces riders to miss Worlds because they're at some minor race anyway, usually half of your pre-selected riders are unavailable due to that.

I certainly haven't watched it back, but the planner tutorial - all or most things still apply in '24 so most of the info will be relevant. In CWT your calendar will be busier and many races have an extra rider slot or two, you'll need a few extra riders to make up for that. In Conti-Pro I'd recommend 2-team daily coverage minimum, as in if one race needs six riders and another needs seven you'll need 13, but then you need a cushion and if you can afford coverage for a third squad, so 18-19. On a budget I'd say 16+. Getting to CWT really requires that third squad full time plus at least two rider cushion, probably a 7-7-6 plus-2, so at least 22. 25 if you have a healthy budget. For those three riders - your budget is a big factor and could move the needle either way a bit - the priority should first be in dossiers and getting them to 100% interest. That will lower their cost significantly. Second, there are many 4-4.5 star riders in the field and I often let many go as they ask more than I'm willing to pay and you can generally replace one that asks too much with two or even three similar riders for the same sum amount. But dollar amount can really come down to how valuable they are. If they truly are a support rider you can probably replace them with someone cheaper if they ask more than (say 6-8k) their worth. But if it's your number two, the key rider that nearly get's your top rider to the podium maybe they are worth hanging on to for a bit more. One strategy could be to target 6 riders for the 3 roster spots (the existing three plus possible replacements), dossiers on all, negotiate with each of them and then confirm the three most favorable deals while cancelling the three more expensive. Dossier points are limited so scale accordingly, but you can use all of those points - negotiate with each - and pick the best combination of contracts in the end. Trainers definitely boost development, but on a budget keep one thing in mind, only some of your riders have that best potential. It's practical to have one top groundbreaking trainer and dedicate their eight slots to your riders with the most potential while maintaining a more affordable staff otherwise.

@@DecathlonGamer Wow man, thanks for putting the time and effort into this explanation. Really appreciate it! I learned that my team is way to big. I'm already having 27 riders. I'm focussing mostly on building a team for the grand tours and a lot of my riders have 5-6 star potential in stage racing. So time to let go of the ones that wont develop or decline in potential and not signing new riders except if they are a steal. I will hire 1 better trainer then. Almost all my riders prefer groundbreaking so that makes it easy.

There's a correlation to levels of development remaining and training style, it's not universal, but the vast majority of riders with most of their development remaining will be groundbreaking.

It's too easy. It's this game on normal difficulty; your critique of how this was on normal difficulty is Pro Cyclist on extreme difficulty. I fly through and dominate in a similar fashion to how this series went. When I alter it to make it harder viewership plummets. Sprinter is about a ten episode series before we're the best in the world, puncher is maybe fifteen, the classics rider is a harder challenge but nobody seems to enjoy that one - I've tried twice but viewership was really bad. The only Pro Cyclist series that ever does decently is the traditional GC rider and I'm number one in the world by the third season. The last challenge I had hope in was a balanced rider and the game just makes that impossible, it didn't work.

@DecathlonGamer All good points I've dominated before as a stage racer but I was considering making one this year and trying something different like a strange combo of specialisations or something and seeing if it could be fun. I also think playing it could help me understand how the fitness/tiredness system works a bit more.

I'd recommend getting the 7DTD mod launcher and downloading Afterlife through that.

I need to highlight this in the next video. He took 2nd overall and won 5 freakin' stages!

I had to investigate what was going on. No bonus seconds at the finish. 13 seconds gained on stage 1 from separation was the difference at the finish.

I tried to test this some years ago but couldn't get a definitive answer. I was testing other things at the same time so I didn't isolate the variables enough. But from my experience there's a bump to experience gains after good results, so the key is to putting them in a position to be successful. I would think the higher the level the higher the gain, but that requires the result to be there.

Your scale is correct, but there is no 8-10 except for nations that start with that rating.

I like a lot of the suggestions there. I missed the same boat, but ... - Get rid of medium mountain attribute. I've had a few riders with good hill and mountain attributes, but somehow they can't do MM? - Replace it with bike handling which would effect how often the rider crashes. Could be loosely tethered to the downhill attribute. - Complete revamp of the pro cyclist mode. The last revamp made it worse. You can either race your rider or build up the training categories for a better level up when it comes, especially early on. Nobody wants to click through not racing to get a good rider and nobody wants a rubbish level up. Also it's far too restrictive in terms of what your rider is good at with the specialties. Should get points at the start and with each level up to spend how you want. - Race invites should be decided by 1st of January. It's a pain in the @rse to set the initial objectives and fitness when you're not sure if you will get the invites and also to have to adjust your calendar and planner as the World Tour invites are handed out through the year. Not such a big deal for WT or conti teams, but a real hassle for pro teams. Could have invite season in November and December when nothing else is happening. - Have fitness peaks kick in when the selected race starts, not a week and a half later once it's already over. I don't want to race my riders to death in the lead up to be able to get the peak on time. They manage this in real life so why not PCM? - You should also be able to cancel a fitness peak build up, e.g if the rider is injured rather than it keep building and you get it at a random time when your rider is back. Had someone miss the Giro with injury just before it started. Once they returned and had the fitness peak it was just before the next objective of the Vuelta. 1 injury ruined 2 grand tours. If I'd been able to cancel Giro build up on the injury then Vuelta would have been fine. - Talking of fitness it would also be good if you could do it day by day or at least the week always starts on a Monday. Sometimes after a race it's 0 days, sometimes 6 days or a number in between until the next week. It shouldn't change year on year depending which day of the week 1st of January falls on. - You can search potential in dossiers, why not in the search area? Would also save a lot of time if you could search by category potential. Could also bring back the old search where you could be more specific about riders' ages rather than bands that cover 3 or 4 years. Also I don't think you can select more than 1 country at a time or save the filters which is especially useful if you are doing an Asia only or Africa only save or something similar. - With searching young riders the potential should be a bit fuzzier. You shouldn't really know the exact potential of an 18 or 19 year old (at least until they get nerfed with the 'evolution of potential'). - Get rid of the thing next to the pause button which hides it and which I always misclick in a panic after a crash or something at 8x speed. Then I go for the keyboard and hit 'o' for the windsock rather than 'p' for pause. Then 5k has passed and my race is ruined. Maybe just me. - Fix it so if your riders are in a train they don't all get pinned on the side of the road if the wrong one gets ahead somehow. This causes the above panic. - As a conti team you should not have the likes of Specialized offering you full R&D. Should be able to pick them with no R&D or a smaller brand and get the R&D. You should have to earn the R&D of the best suppliers. Maybe also be able to stick with a small supplier and build together so you have decent kit by the time you reach world tour. - You should be able to selected which of your riders is furthest forward at the start (barring jersey wearers). Sometimes your plan is someone in the break, but they are at the back on the start line and by the time they reach the front of the peloton the break is 3 minutes up the road. - Fix the AI. The only thing they are decent at it a flat sprint. Mountains they are just about reasonable, but a hilly parkour and especially a sprint stage with a hill near the finish half the time your entire team gets off the front. Goes without saying that this is on extreme difficulty. Said it anyway just in case. There's probably more, but it's bedtime now. Work tomorrow :(

@@GMeazza I agree with all you’ve said there too. I downloaded PCM 06 this morning and it’s far better for a lot of what we’ve said than this current version is which is mind boggling. With race day condition, I’m sure in one version it could switch during a stage which I would like to see back too. Would also love to sort all pre season stuff in November and December. Like you said, knowing what races you’re going to invite wise or if you want a rider to prepare for the TdU. Seems unrealistic on Jan 1st to say you’re at a very high fitness level and hope they hit a fitness peak within two weeks.
