RMS Series Part 4 - The Freckle - BeachinSurfTV
In the final episode of the RMS Series we had a look at the Freckle. This board was pretty unique in the sense it is going to surf fast and hard like a lot of the shorter beachie boards that have flooded the market but rather than increasing the entry rocker RMS lifted the tail giving the board a lot more control on the heavier bottom turns without having to sacrifice speed like some comp models that have a full traditional rocker that includes tail lift and entry rocker. Tail lift is also going to allow for faster finishes off the top when you transition weight back to the front foot. I personally hadn't seen a board in market like this yet and thought it was both practical and pretty fo...

Rusty Traveler Surfboard - BeachinSurfTV
Просмотров 4,6 тыс.10 лет назад
In this episode of BeachinSurfTV we got our hands on a Rusty Traveler which is the board I personally chose for travelling with and was stoked to chat about it. This board is designed for double overhead surf upwards and is perfect for travelling to a diverse range of locations. I would highly recommend this board if you want to be comfortable taking on bigger surf around 6-10ft.
RMS Series Part 2 - Buzz Plus - BeachinSurfTV
Просмотров 94210 лет назад
In this episode we got to take a look at a board that I really would love in my quiver. I sum it up as a highly accessible high performance board because many HP boards can be a bit demanding to ride where the Buzz Plus has enough foam for the everyday surfer but had the rocker to really drive hard off the bottom and get that fast release off the top from the extra tail lift. If you want to get...
RMS Series Part 3 - Torkpedo - BeachinSurfTV
Просмотров 92510 лет назад
In this episode of BeachinSurfTV we take a closer look at the RMS Torkpedo. The Torkpedo is a very diverse model and is going to rip in anything from 2ft to 6ft. You are still going to drop 2-4 inches off your HP model but you're going to ride it top to bottom like you typically do with a high performance. Models like the Torkpedo are becoming the standard for anyone with a 1 board quiver becau...
RMS Series Part 1 - Diamond Disc Surfboard - BeachinSurfTV
Просмотров 71010 лет назад
In this episode of BeachinSurfTV we had a look at the RMS Diamond Disc which is a fast, fun and flowy summer board that is perfect if you don't like riding mals and want that extra speed on the smaller days. Ride this board 6 inches shorter that your normal high performance board and feel the speed on demand. Throw your comments in the below.
Rusty Buckshot Surfboard - BeachinSurfTV

In this episode we selfishly looked at the Rusty Buckshot. It is selfish because I wrote the script while waiting for my personal Buckshot to arrive in store and it is a board I can't get my mind off. The Buckshot is a modern high performance short board. This board is super accessible as a HP model if you don't want to get comp dimensions and go super refined. There is still enough meat in the...

In this episode of BeachinSurfTV we take a glance at the Rusty Dwart. This board is a speed machine and great for the smaller days especially if riding a 7'0 mini mal isn't your thing. Rusty Slayer Surfboard - BeachinSurfTV
Просмотров 6 тыс.10 лет назад
In this episode of BeachinSurfTV we checked out the Rusty Slayer which is an interesting board representing a shift in the market where surfers are looking for short step up boards. It's a bit of an oxymoron but with the blended features you end up with a board that will go great in solid surf but you can still rider 3-4 inches shorter than your standard high performance shortboard. Chuck your ...
Rusty Magic Door Surfboard - BeachinSurfTV
Просмотров 4,5 тыс.10 лет назад
Today we cover off the Rusty Magic Door. This board is great for small conditions. Rusty have designed this board to be surfed like a traditional surfboard only for the smaller stuff. If you don't see yourself riding a small funboard for the 1-3ft stuff than this board is going to go great for more rail to rail surfing in the junky stuff or just the less powerful summer conditions.

In this episode of BeachinSurfTV we had a look at the Pyzel Slab which is an all rounder developed with John John Florence. John John wanted something shorter than the JPX so Pyzel took 3" off the nose, added some tail lift and the end result is you have a looser, drivey short board that is going to work in a wider range of conditions from 2-6ft high.

    I’ve been surfing a long time and have come across some magic thrusters. I recently had a Subscorcher by ...Lost that was phenomenal in a lot of conditions and this looks like it’s right up that alley. I spied a slightly used Slab in the local surf shop in my dims and now I’m frothing to get it.

    Hy mate, I buy recentlly a Rusty Dwart in trosion spring tecnology and I have some questions? whats kind of fins is good for this surfboard? I buy the FCS Mark Richards twin + stabiliser fins. Is a good idea? I buy this surfboad specially to smaller waves from Brazil (almost flat waves when another surfboards don't work well). Is this board good for it? I'm 1,86meter and 75kg and I buy a 5'8'' with 30 liter and I'm a itermedium to advanced surfer. Thanks and congraduations.

    I tried this board after this review and i must say its a bit of a dud for me , Its marketed as a low rocker board but the ratio of rocker and how fast the nose kicks after the centre point of the board is still high. Because of that it doesnt 't paddle well for its size/volume and other than a few carves and cutbacks I struggled to get it to turn. I tried it with several different fins to try and iron out the kinks but i never really did. For the record I am 5'9 82 kg and Intermediate/advanced and the board was a 5'11 @29.6 and the conditions were head high to double punchy beach breaks with barrels and open faced waves. PEACE

    Solid review man and the best answers to questions i have seen on the tube! I was wondering if you know which of pyzels current models is most like Michel Bourez's The Spartan? Or if it is possible to get Pyzel to make a Spartan in Australia? I am looking for a board with mid to low entry with light continous rocker and a medium kick out the tail. I am a bigger guy so are keen on a pulled in narrower squash tail but that retains volume in the tail. Also, mid to slightly higher forgiving rails? Does anything pop to mind? I thought the slab sounds kind of like this.

    I don´t know if I got this right. How does flatness and rocker correlates in this example. Why is it unnecessary to have a shorter board when the rocker is flat? For what I got it is that a longer board has to have more rocker to fit into the wave, as you dont want a board that fells responsible like a fridgedoor? So on the other hand a really short board can have less rocker.

    I've had my 6'0" Slab for 5 months now and only just watched your review. You are absolutely spot on with your comments and I love the board. Tail rocker is a great thing! Had a 6'2" Fred Rubble before which was a great board also, but found it had a touch too much length on small days and a touch too much volume (32.4L) to really bury the rail. The Slab is a fair bit looser and it will turn as hard as you can push it. I'm 85kg, my Slab is 30.1L and it paddles really well and catches waves easily. Running FCSII Carbon Accelerator fins and I reckon the setup is perfect for me and the waves I surf in Vicco.

    I am 37, 78 Kg, surfing for 23 years. I surf 2-4 days a week and have a good to high level of surfing. I just ordered the Sub Driver in the stock dims, 5' 11" x 19.25 x 2.38. 29.4L. I am a little concerned that these dims will be a little clunky for me. My current 6' 2" is 29 L. I want to stick with the 5' 11" but a little more refined. I want the board to have the plus points of the Sub Driver Loose and Easy to catch waves but I don't want to compromise too much on performance. What dims you recommend? Thanks, KL

    • @beachinsurftv1633
      @beachinsurftv1633 9 лет назад

      Hi Kerry Larkin . I think you have chosen the right dims so don't worry. The main difference between your 6'2 and the 5'11 is going to be a bit more about how you surf it rather than whether the board is clunky. Because there is a larger tail and a flatter rocker you are going to want to stand back a little bit more on the board and get the foot working that kick in the grip to really feel like that board stays nice and flowy. I have had a lot of feedback from comp surfers that the Sub Driver is a good small wave board for them rather than something that is too short like a Hypto Krypto or V3 Rocket. The Sub Driver is still drivey and reliable in the critical stuff. Experiment a bit with getting back further on the board and it will really rip. You won't have to drive your Sub Driver as hard as a 6'2 comp board as the board is going to do more work for you. Enjoy and let me know what you think. There is some more info on that stick here too www.beachinsurf.com.au/lostsurfboards-subdriver

    Thanks for doing this board. I ended up picking one up. Only board I surf now on the south shore of Oahu. I resulted with the Slab after trying out the Lost Lazy Boy -> Hypto Krypto -> Weirdo Ripper -> Tokoro SF3 -> CI #4 ->Pyzel Slab. Slab has the best sharp rail so you can really perform. Still easy to paddle but doesnt feel awkwardly bouyant at the chest making take off late and sticky feeling. Slab lets you take off sunk into the pocket but still has just enough foam under the front foot that makes it forgiving but still knifey. Love this board

    • @beachinsurftv1633
      @beachinsurftv1633 9 лет назад

      Awesome to hear Abe. The Slab is easily one of the best boards in market at the moment if you want 1 board to surf a large range of conditions. Most surfers want to surf just 1 board and then have a decent step up board for when it is over 6ft. The Slab is going to handle everything else. Stoked you like it.

    can you recommend a futures thruster set up for this board? I have WCT fins in right now and the board seems to not turn tight enough. Also, when i want to push through a closeout lip after bottom turning it holds too much and it ends up skipping out from under me. I am 510, 170 and my Neil is a 5'9". This board is working terribly with these fins, but I know the board has potential! Thanks! BeachinSurfTV

    • @beachinsurftv1633
      @beachinsurftv1633 10 лет назад

      WCT fins although very popular and a highly recommended fin set for this board are just not for everybody. The tail fin has a reduced size and the fins are quite upright which is great for down the line surfing but they will suffer on a drawn out bottom turn especially if you are well floated. We have a Futures demo fin tree in store so I would recommend finding somewhere close enough to you so that you can try different fins. Start off trying the Medium size Jordy Smith fins. These fins have a longer rake and are much better for top to bottom surfing. Also keep in mind with a board like the Neil due to the larger sized tail with less rocker you can really afford to step back a bit more on the tail and work it a bit harder. Hope this helps.

    Hi, great review. I am interested in this board as an allrounder but consider myself an average surfer. Do you think this will suit me, mainly surf beachies, mix of flatter faced east coast oz to fast hollow barelling waves. Am also looking at a Lost V3 Rocket, JS Monsta 3 and CI #4 Utlility.

    • @beachinsurftv1633
      @beachinsurftv1633 10 лет назад

      Hi Jason. Most definitely this board but let me explain why. Typically learners just surf down the line and then average surfers start to add in an occasional floater or 1 top turn per wave. The idea of choosing the next board should focus on maintaining stability so you can start to be confident surfing tighter in the pocket and surfing more top to bottom. The Slab is good because it isn't a completely flat rocker which will help later drops and will allow you to stay confident on the front foot (entry rocker). I would avoid boards that are 4-6 inches shorter like the Rocket because although their a lot of fun and solid surfers throw them around a surfer that isn't already surfing strongly top to bottom generally will suffer because you'll lose a lot of stability and find that you're missing a few waves for it. Slab is a great choice but if you had your eyes on LOST check out the Sub Driver review. That is the competitive board between the two shapers and both those boards are tried and tested.

      Ok assuming you have FCS original plugs not their new FCSII I would really recommend the V2 PC Tri Set. These are modeled off the original Kelly Slater fins and they are the most popular I've found for that kind of board in 1-4ft of surf. You'll find these fins have plenty of speed but are quite upright which will make turning off the top on small stuff a bit easier. Good for tighter turning which is what you've got on a step down board like the Rusty Neil in smaller surf. If you have 5 plugs and can run a Quad setup then consider buying the Tri Quad set. This is a great board to run a quad setup. Here's a link to read more www.surffcs.com.au/shop/surf-quads/k2-1-tri-quad-set. If you have the FCSII plugs then look at the Reactor which is also very similar to the V2.

      Yes the original plugs are fcs ..and I was looking at the v2s before..just wasn't sure if I should get those or not..but thank you so much ..that really helps a lot !! One more question if you have the time..what's the diference if I put all 5 fins? Then having only 3 on it ..thanx !

    • @beachinsurftv1633
      @beachinsurftv1633 10 лет назад

      Tim Javier You only want to have either 4 or 3 fins in the board at any 1 time. I recommend trying out the thruster to start with but some surfers prefer quads. As a rule quads will give you more speed which is an advantage in most conditions unless your trying to draw out your turns.

      Thanks Drew. I haven't ridden or taken a closer look at the Flash yet so honestly I can't say but after looking at what the Pyzel team have to say online I would be looking at sticking to the Slab for an easier surf in under 4ft conditions. If you want something that is a bit more performance focused though without having to go to a step up the Flash sounds like it would work well in the quiver. The main feature that I noticed is the tail rocker in the Flash which is going to help in better surf.

      @beachinsurftv1633 10 лет назад

      Hi I Mac My recommendation if you are going to be heading out in surf that is going to test paddle power and test the ability a bit is to add a litre and get a 6' 5 x 18 3/4 x 2 7/16 29.9L. The benefit of adding a bit more foam is you're going to be more competitive when the crowds get a bit heavier at places like Uluwatu. I did this recently and added some more foam and found that I was much more competitve and getting a lot more waves than I normally would in conditions that I don't get to surf often ie; 8ft. If you are going to be charging surf that is over 10ft and you want more of a "big wave" board then I would consider forgetting about litreage and start thinking about something that is more along the lines of 7'0 x 18 3/4 x 2 1/2. The Hawaiians are good examples where they aren't afraid to chuck some extra foam under the foot to handle bigger and better surf. I believe the 6'5 will go best for you. If you think that is too much foam you can look at narrowing the board a tad to 18 1/2 but keep the thickness. Feel free to also give the guys at Beachin Surf a call on 02 43 965159 to chat about boards as they have a few in at the moment. Peter the owner has a background surfing Pipe, Ulus and some other good big wave locations and he's pretty good to talk to about that stuff. Hope that helps I MAC and feel free to shout out with any questions. Yew!

      Hi Blank. BeachinSurfTV has been created as an extension of a surf store on the Central Coast in NSW Australia. We review product we stock and sell. This does two things for a surf store. It allows us to let people know they can reach out to find out more about the products we are reviewing and it also allows them to know where they can buy the product. Shred Show is a great RUclips channel and no we haven't knocked them off. Hopefully you find the videos are different in the sense they are more relatable to Australian conditions and that there are more Australian products to come that the Shred Show would not do. Yes we review surf product though as do many RUclips channels available on Vimeo, RUclips and other online user generated content websites. Thanks for reaching out Blank.

    • @beachinsurftv1633
      @beachinsurftv1633 10 лет назад

      Hi Cameron 6'1 is a size that would work but volume/size is different for everybody based on weight, skill level and personal preference. I know a guy that is ripping on his 6'1 and he is 6'3 tall and sitting at about 80kg. The 6'1 Buckshot is 27litres for reference. My recommendation is to either demo this board in that size in store at Beachin Surf or check out a few of the models you have in your quiver at the moment and research how many litres your riding to get a better judgement of what size you should go for. I ended up buying a Rusty "Yes Thanks" which was around 33.5 litres and 6'6. I was set on the Buckshot but I ended up going for the Yes Thanks purely because it was the newer model that has just come out from Rusty and it is similar to the Buckshot ie; both comp models. Give the Beachin crew a call if you want a demo of a 6'1 Rusty Buckshot or flick any questions you have here and I'll get back to you. Cheers, Clint From Beachin clintfrombeachin.tumblr.com/

      BeachinSurfTV I see, yea I think it will be fine but just thought if you were going to ride a 6'1 and your 90kg I might need to go a bit smaller. I was on a 6'2 x 18 3/8 x 2 1/4, very performance board loved it until I snapped it, was one of Jay Quinns old boards not exactly built to last years. I dont want a short fat board again, I was on a 5'11 x 19 1/4 x 2 1/4. Just after an allrounder to replace my 6'2

      That's exactly where I've gone with my boards too. I'm bit tired of shorter fatter boards and like something with a bit more rocker. This board will deliver on that and it sounds perfect for you. You will notice the tail lift and speed off the top with this board. My board that I'm riding isn't super different and I'm loving a full rocker that performance boards have. I've had good feedback on this board so I can recommend it. Let me know how you go and shout out if you want a demo. We've got a 6'1 on the floor at our Toukley store on the Central Coast.

    I'm really thinking about getting this board. I only have one important question. Does it also work in mushy conditions? sometimes it's 4 to 6ft and kinda mushy, not too steep. Will this board also work fine in these conditions? My plan is to keep for now a 2 board quiver, the 5'10'' DHD Double Shot as a groveler, 1-4ft mush, and than a 6'2'' Sweet Spot for anything over 4ft, or even hollow 3ft. But I must know if the Sweet Spot will work when it's big and fat. Thank you, you just got a subscriber!

      Hi Bruno. Sorry though I got back to your comment. I have ridden this board in 1-2ft days and it does work if there is a wall to work off. If you have a mushy 4-6ft day then this board is great for that too because of the tail. When you have a round tail like the Sweet Spot you have more control and typically a mushy 6ft wave has some wind chop and energy about it that I find a board like either a JS Blak Box or a DHD Doubleshot that have a larger outline square round tail will start to be unreliable in the bigger mushy stuff. I really rate this board. It just felt good and worked in so many conditions. Really good 2 board quiver man I like it.
