Product review, Loctite Extend rust neutralizer
I don't want rust darker, but I want to see if it comes back. Black paint will make it look darker.
@@joecosgrove3593 hey thank you for the comment. The darker part is part of a chemical reaction oxygen, spray, Loctite, and rust. black paint will seal the rust but not stop it. He will keep resting underneath the black paint until it eats a hole in your metal. Thank you for watching the video and the comment.
I don't know how he sprayed that while talking through is video. I could barely handle spraying a little 6 inch area on my rusty garage door rail as a test. The door was open, and I had to walk a way for a moment. I bought a 50 dollar 3M respirator, and I'm pretty sure that saved my braincells. A whiff of brake cleaner is nothing compared to this stuff. Works great though.
The explanation of how the column and shaft work together helped me understand how that sucker works. Trying to figure out a short in the horn on my 68. Thanks for posting 👍
@@lcwatts2971 thank you for the comment. I’m glad it was some hep for you!!
using this today. I hope it works out well, my battery tray is a bit rusty, but if all fails i will buy a new one.
@@letstryitout4998 heck yeah! Keep us updated how it works out for ya. Thank you for the comment
Can we use it on disk brakes?
@@redribbonzx4871 I would NOT advise that. If it’s the rotor, no. If you’re talking about the caliper only, then that would be ok. Thanks for the comment
good video--I am just doing my first engine build--I had a shop look over the case just to make sure I didn't miss anything--it looked to me like a case saver came out (its an AH series type one)--but shop commented that they were "deep studded"--I hate to admit that I have no idea what he's talking about...help?
@@michaelmounts1269 Deep stud refers to the upper rear cylinder-head stud on #3 cylinder. The boss for this studs threads is thought to contribute to a case cracking problem in the bell housing, so the way to solve the cracking is the deeper threads. It’s a good thing.im Not much help here , thanks for your comment
but a stud kit come with 9 long?
Nice. And yea the tool kit that came with the bug was 10 13 14 15
same thing in peugeot 206. I agree torsion bars do suck.
Thanks for the video. My hanger failed yesterday, ordered the parts, did this job today and am back on the road already.
Hey I’m glad this helped. Thanks for the comment!!
Kinda duh?
thank u
Big help, thank you.
Hey!! Thanks for the comment. Glad that something I did helped someone out. Have a great day
What did you use for the template? I'll be doing this on a 68 beetle im fixing up for my granddaughter. The door panels were missing when I bought it. Thanks, I subscribed to your channel, hope you make more videos.
Hey thank you for the comment and the follow. When I did this I used cardboard. Then traced it to the hardboard. Easy peasy!!! Thanks again
For something like that, you should use rivnuts
Thanks for the comment. You are correct. Those things do a great job. I’ve used those in the past.👍thanks
VW torsion bars do not “suck”. It’s your lack of understanding that’s sucks.
Thanks for the comment
Tip Three and Four: (3) Weld those holes up first so the new hanger is not in your way and (4) Install the bushing before you send the new hanger down the tunnel.😁
👍
I'm going to try to build one of those. 👍
Very good 😅
Thanks for your reply. Have a great day
my collapsible shaft rusted through and snapped today while parking the car. The tow truck guy said "replace it with a pipe and weld it in", which didn't sound right to me. Took it to the Bug specialist, who's going to reweld the original pattern (you can't buy new ones any more in Turkey, where I am). A much better solution. So this video could have saved my life (if I hadn't gone with my gut anyway) during a crash.
Thanks for the comment, I hope you get it back up and running soon. Before this type of column, the were solid from the steering wheel to the gear box, no safety mesh.
Hi. I was just wondering if you know how to change the bearing in a collapsible steering shaft? Thanks.
Hello and thanks for the comment! I’ve never had to do this before and can’t really tell you how. Check out this link, Slade does a great job. Thanks again. ruclips.net/video/xfeY0AOsyt8/видео.htmlsi=-hXPqjWTByOCdcsa
There’s twice kinds. One solid and one plastic under the signal switch assembly. The solid is older. Airhead parts has a video
I've used Loctite Extend since it was recommended to us in my auto body repair shop class in 1992. But now (2023) it is getting hard to find.
I know, I bought the liquid version the other day at big chain auto parts store. Still works good for me. Thanks for the comment! Bug out!!
Hey man, I suppose I replyed in another vid but i would like to thank you from the bottom ofvmy heart for your short, to-the point vid on floor pans. I tore my knee apart and had a 6 month recovery and still couldn't do much after for months. I put the pans on my wifes 181/thing before but never put the body back on till a few weeks ago. Wanted to tell you it fit perfectly! I was scared to death something unforseen woupd happen and id have to get the body back up and tear the pans out! But your instruction was 100% perfect. Thank you sooo much. It turned out to be a stunning vw thing that the whole neighborhood breaks their necks to look at! Do you ever go to vw shows in TN by chance? Would love to get a chance to meet you. Ive got 3 more vw bug to do this to and now im confident because of you. Thanks again
You’re welcome! I’m glad some little information that I have would help others along on rebuilding/repairing their vw. Yes, there is always some little “something” that seem to go wrong. I’m glad it went good for you. I’ve been going to bugaplooza for years, and I do go to circle your wagons from time to time. Look for the ole black bug and hit me up. Thanks for the comment! Bug out!🤙
Good stuff! Thank you!
Steve, thanks for watching and the comment!!

Thanks for watching, and the comment!!
Sure was a pleasure meeting you and your Wife at Bugapalooza Brother Lamar..Good luck getting your Bug back on the road
Do you have videos on mounting the steering box on a narrowed beam and how to align the wheels?
Thank you for the comment. I don’t have any videos on either. The steering box still needs to be straight in front of the steering column. And I am sure the tie rod ends on the passenger side was screwed all the way in. Driver side, I had to shorten the tie rod so I could align the front. I can’t promise but I will try to post a video next week on the alignment. Be very careful driving without an alignment. What kind of vw do you have? Thanks again
@@lamardixon4485 I have a 63 beetle. 4 inch shortened Airkewld Beam, TRW steering box and an UltraArm pitman arm from Limebug with supporting steering rods from Limebug.
If you do t have room on the 4” narrow beam because of the shock towers, you might need to mount it and use 2 universal knuckles to offset the steering shaft.
Let us know how the new longer arm works

It was a pleasure getting to talk with you and your wife Lamar! Good luck!
It was great to meet you as well.
Go to Harbor Freight and get yourself an angle finder for less than $5. You can then get the car totally level at zero degrees up on 4 Jack stands. Disassemble axle from spring plates, carefully wedge the plates off their stop and then measure the angle of both plates unloaded. They will likely not be at the same angle due to one of the torsion bars (more often drivers side) having lost some of its stiffness. Find the chart online for your year of car that tells you how many splines to move and in what direction to raise or lower.
Hey Mike thanks for your comment. You are exactly right about the angle finder. That’s the best way to do it. 👍
Thanks for the video this is exactly what I was looking for !
Hey, thanks for the comment. Let us know how it works out for you!
I know it has been a while. but curious, how has it held up?
It did great. Just as it is supposed to. There needs to be some surface rust for it to convert over. Clean bare metal doesn’t need it. Loctite also makes this in a quart size brush on. Expensive. Thank for checking ✌️
@@lamardixon4485 Thanks for following up! always appreciated posters that come back mths/yrs after so that those watching can learn more. thanks! hoping this saves some surface rust i just found on my honda element's rear gate hinge area
Hope to see you driving that beauty up at Bugapalooza this weekend!!
Sadly no, I broke it Wednesday night. Several things went wrong and I’m tearing it down now. Are you gonna be there with a car? What kind and I’ll look you up? Thanks
Aw man that’s a bummer… I’ll be there but only as a spectator I didn’t get my 71 done in time… I’ll holler at you when I spot you.. hoping this rain moves out

Really enjoyed the series. Would love to see you install that headliner piece.
Hey John, thanks for the comment. It wasn’t that bad because the cardboard that I put the material on was only 1” bigger all the way around than the top opening in the bug.Just remember, it’s cardboard and once it’s creased the overall look won’t be as good. Thanks again
total agreement front wheels free wheel might have to adjust tyre pressure accordingley to get deck level but part from that if you can save money all the better constant punctures in the garden cost
Good to know💯💪🏾
Thanks for the comment! Definitely not what I expected.
I dragged my cub out today and cleaned it up changed the oil and air filter and fuel filter…. Gotta sharpen the blades … It’s that time again brother…. We will be eating pollen in a few weeks aarrgghh…thanks for the tip!!!
Thanks for the video. I bought the loctite extend rust neutralizer for my pick up. It’s a 2016 and I just noticed little dots of rust on my hood. I probably have about 15 tiny dots that I believe is rust. Do you think I should sand them off before I spray on the loctite? I look forward to your response.
Hey Dean, I would spray the the neutralizer on the spots first, it works with rust, not clean bare metal. Then I would prep for repainting after that. I would spray primer after it had a couple of days to convert the rust then paint. Thanks for the comment
Thank You for the Tips on doing body to pan rubber --- will have to go back and watch more of your videos - Rodney
Thank for the comment! I hope it helps.

Did you make rear apron quick disconnect?
Thanks for the question, I did modify the apron to make it removable, however it’s not so quick, it’s pop rivet on. That’s a good eye you have, what gave it away? I do have a video about the apron. Thanks again
That's a good idea but it's b******* because if you got to change your heater channels everything is off anyway so bolts your new heater panels down to your new floors and then set the body on the Goddamn heater channels and then work our way that way that way you know you got it there's no way you're going to put new pants on Old rusted-out heater channels they go with the pants trust me if the pens are junk the heater channels are junk
Thanks for the comment. You are right, when doing a heater channel job bolting them to the pans is by far the best way to make sure all the mounting points are lined up.
@@lamardixon4485 😊
Very nice job Brother Lamar!!!!
Hey!! Good to hear from you. Thanks for the comment
@@lamardixon4485 I didn’t think you had added any videos in awhile none has popped up in my recommended…. The caulk video was the last one I had saw… I’ll have to catch up.. I saw you on slades live feed one night.. will you be going to Bugapalooza?
Yes I will be going to bugapalooza, I’m going up on Friday, trying to get a good spot. Spend the whole weekend, what a good time. I can’t wait. Please look me while you’re there if you’re going.
You should have installed vapor barriers, and clear coated the panels, to protect the panels from water damage.
Thanks for the comment. Those are great ideas but these doors aren’t in the best shape
