This is the kinda thing I was hoping to find when exploring the console. Not in terms of genre just something that I'd really enjoy and wasn't expecting. Man, Saturn had some amazing titles. Sega Rally, Sonic R, World Series Baseball 98....what else am I going to come across during my time reviewing titles from this extraordinary part of SEGA's history? Raven Squad: It’s Awful, Avoid at All Costs
I THOUGHT IT HAD BACKGROUND MUSIC? It has a whole ost on youtube that seems based on more than events?
played this on pc and arcade. Aracde was... insane!
Doom PS1 was the first Doom version I ever played. I was very young and it gave me the chills. I persevered and beat the game. I enjoyed it so much I replayed it dozens of times to find all the secrets in every level. I was surprisingly dexterous with the controls it provided. I quickly learned that aiming while turning with the arrow buttons was hard to do. Instead, learn to aim with the strafing buttons. It's much smoother, and while dodging' you have to time your shots like if you were playing guitar. The demons were the notes and the fire button is your guitar string.
The guitar analogy is awesome lol
im playing this now, its more repetitive than any video game has the right to be. I started off loving it but i cant promote this game with a straight face. I discovered it on my own i was just searching to see if anybody else knew of it. If they reduced the HP of every character by 90% it would be a great game
Oh yeah, I like these games. I reviewed road to Berlin many years ago and Land of the Dead now that we're talking about Groove games. I like that one too
Still better voice acting than Stalker 2 😂
17:55 the postal movie is actually a good movie
You should try Slayers X on you next video
It is an amazing game for sure
You actually can go back into stealth mode at any time during your mission. Also, a key feature that I did not realize from the game until a few years ago is the ability to issue commands through the view port of your teammates. Holding down the view port command button will produce a cursor on a teammate's view port that will allow you to issue commands to specific parts of the environment in their view like doors. You can sit at the initial entry point, issue all commands to your teammates, and in most cases complete a mission while never moving. I do not play this way, but it was so interesting to me how a detail like this existed. Also, the suspect and SWAT AI is adjustable in the options. The more time (in milliseconds) selected gives the AI more decision-making time, which allows them to decide better actions with the current circumstance. Think of it like a chess game where the computer gets more time to access possible moves and the counter the opponent might make. There really are so many features of SWAT 3 that I love that were watered down or completely missing from SWAT 4. SWAT 4 is not bad, but the fact SWAT 3 exists means I hardly ever touch SWAT 4.
I see that copy of SWAT 3 on the top shelf. My favorite game of all time.
It's mine too!!! Absolutely love that game. Actually one of the reasons CDRF even exists lol
@@CDROMFossil I subscribed. I look forward to watching the SWAT 3 video and other content.
Man that Swat 3 video is the first video I did its kinda stinky 😅 I need to redo it
A good number of the games you showed never made it to Brazil officially. This holographic box is really cool, the boxes are in excellent condition. I've never seen a game that comes with a VHS, it's really unique. 👑
Have you done a review for the sequel?
Not yet
Never heard of this gem :D
Me neither until I happened across it! Glad I found it!
When racing games were fun.
always fun to discover another amusing obscure PC game from that era. actually does not seem bad either
Surprisingly decent for sure
I wish Digital Spray and Action Forms survived till today. Great games!
Body Harvest was a wild vibe of my childhood
Those slowmo moments kinda remind me of Ubersoldier, you should cover this game sometime :). Great video as always, thanks.
Ubersoldier is wild. Id have to prepare myself to handle that beast of a game lol
Is it me or is that rifle model distractingly large?
Oh cod oh carp it's Pirate Hunter, everyone save yourself, otherwise Igoryan will murderize you with his holy powers, able to kill a man by showing a middle finger!

I say so indeed
always love a new cd-rom fossil drop!
Thanks for the love!
As a far cry junkie...scratches neck...got any more far cry clones? I am not picked i loved vivisector and i enjoyed code of honor. I cant wait for project ferocious. I remember seeing this game a while ago, forgot what it was called, gameplay looked kinda junk, was afraid its not gonna "just work" but hey if it does, might as well. I hate what open world games have become, there is no pacing, large empty boring maps, doing repettive side activities and collectathons, constantly breaking the pacing with cutscenes and dialogues and qtes...god i hate what ubisoft has done to this series.
Yeah I have grown tired of open world myself
What timing!! Lmao I released a vid on this on Christmas! Hope you're doing well ❤
Lmao! I'm doing well man hope you are
Why are you calling Alaron, Sanjuro? Lol
I mention it at 2:25 but I played the game so long with Sanjuro as the name i forgot his actual name
Wtf how could you not like the movie????!! It’s a fantasy masterpiece!
I dunno I tend to really love fantasy movies. Like Legend for example is my jam. But this movie just felt so dull to me. Eh who knows. My movie taste is as extremely all over the place as my gaming taste is
@ omg Legend 😂 we’re very different I think Legend is awful except for Tim Curry’s makeup and the set designs, there’s like no story to that one. Neverending Story is super deep, meta and philosophical about the death of imagination.
Man I love the visuals and how moody it is. Such a vibey film. I guess the same could be argued for Neverending Story lol
Great game loved it
He's actually still riding those rattling fruitbats outa hell. Such a great dude.
soundtrack was sooo killer. still remembering and loving this day...
Modern people shouldnt judge old tech because they wouldnt know how it must have felt to have gameplay like this at that time.
I'm kinda growing tired of this argument as I've played countless 90s and earlier games that I love. Games I revisit often and try to shill to others. This is not an issue with age especially since I've found magazine reviews of the time bashing this game.
Great game that was way too short, so much unrealized potential. Flying the German jets in the later missions was awesome.
Yeah I wish this concept got a second look today but alas
i played this game when i was a kid and was trying to remember what it was called for some time, but now when I see the gameplay I don't feel any nostalgia, only dissapointment.
Lmao I hate when that happens
Honestly my favorite game by Rockstar up until San Andreas came along. I love this game more than GTA 3 and Vice City. I mean common, what other game before San Andreas do you get to do this much vehicle mayhem?
At 6:24 is he saying "Godzilla" ?
Yup
I played this game so much when i was around 8 or 9? very young. & for the longest time i could never remember the name of this game had to have been like 18 years. I finally decided to do some searching for quite a while on RUclips to actually find a video of it. Thanks so much for this Video. Being able to look back at this game was so nostalgic. I remember vividly about that zombie on the roof. & that devil themed map Damnation Valley freaked me out when i was younger. Haha.
That's awesome! I'm super glad this video is helping out with memories.
OK, cool video and all, just one problem Why are you using HD Models
the biggest reason as to why postal 3 turned out the way that it did is because of the 2008 recession, most of the original team producing the game were all fired and replaced with a cheaper, less experienced team who rewrote most of the story, scrapped most of the assets and levels that the original team made and replaced it with their own and built on top of the existing unfinished code in order to make the game somewhat more functional then it was before. The original team wanted to make the game much closer to Postal 2 with hints of the darker grittier atmosphere of postal 1. They even had plans on it being more open world and less linear mission based. unfortunately we will probably never see the game that they originally had planned.
Very underrated game, lots of nostalgia. Never made it past the America stage, game was HARD AF.
Your probably not going to see this but that cd has actual content hidden inside the disk like videos and pictures. One has a pixel art image of spock that was pretty decent
Really? I'll have to check that out
This game catched my interest lately. Mostly because of the very N64ish graphics. Beside that it reminds me of Blast Corps, but instead of destroying buildings you fight aliens lol.
The Gamespot review was brilliant and so on point! Unfortunately, it also highlights how deep gaming journalism fell. Anyway, great video. I remember reading about this game and being quite hyped, but as you said: it sounds amazing on paper. I tried playing Precoursors, same developer, again amazing on paper, but a little too much jank and a very slow start (if I remember correctly), so I never really got into it.
Precursors is super super slow
AAAAARGH!
Great vid, Fossil! This looks like a pretty dark and really cool game. Also very classy of the devs to release it on Zoom Platform. I've got it on Zoom and will have to give it a try at some point 🙂
Bonus points for the Chuck Norris "Invasion USA" footage. Man, that movie would make for a good, dumb FPS I bet - why is he only in Rockay City? Oh well. Secondly, the protagonist here seems a little slow on the draw during the beginning, lol. Like, the delay between the fire starting and her screaming was _weird_ - please notice you're on fire sooner, y'know? And hey, maybe try protesting or something in the meantime; it's real weird how quiet the moment is. Wish you got this video out a week or so ago; would've been nice to know about this in time for Halloween. Not in the mood now, but I'll keep this on my radar for laters - maybe circle back around to it in January or February. If Hollywood can use the early winter as a horror movie dumping ground for the films that missed out on their October release dates, then Video Games can drop some horror that time too. However, I just bought Robocop Rogue City finally because it was on sale on the Xbox store - literally a few minutes ago; it's installing right now - so I'm good on FPS titles at the moment. Glad I know about Coven now though!
Let me know what you think about Robocop, I've been on the fence myself. If you tell me it's good I'll check it out!
@@CDROMFossil It seems really good! Besides looking gorgeous, it kinda feels like a combination between FEAR and Metroid Prime to me, which is a neat combination. The combat is similar to FEAR in how visceral it is - ragdoll physics are implemented really well, and environments are highly destructible - and because of the scanning and lock-on functionality, it gives off Metroid vibes too (plus, RoboCop in his shiny, form-fitting, movie-accurate armor kinda looks like Retro Studios' Samus models). After the opening section, there's also this RPG-lite section in the Police HQ with sidequests and stuff, so the actual design is pretty interesting with these hub areas and interconnected districts that make up Detroit. I say it's worth a pick up if you find it for a price that you agree with!
Sweet thanks!
Man, why are there no Chuck Norris games. Maybe they just can't do him justice? They should at least put him in as an easter egg in Street Fighter.
@@time4tea99 It really is weird that he never had a game or two back in the day, during his heyday. A Walker Texas Ranger sidescrolling beat 'em up on the NES/Genesis/SNES feels like it should've happened, at least.
Catechumen hypeeeeee
Theres like 2 shooters where you eat corpses One was Viscera something and cruelty squad
Man I forgot about Cruelty Squad having that feature truth be told
Viscerafest! I think Wrought Flesh also let you eat downed enemies while using them as meat shields
@@snbnth thanks i never got the game but i remember that
I remember you could salvage enemy organs for buffs but I don't remember eating them per say? That's another game I should probably cover as I was expecting Civvie another to do so.
Alien vs Predator as well! (if you're playing as the alien)
Dude this game I just bought for 11 bucks.maybe that’s too much.
Too much indeed
I really like your reviewing style here. I can feel that this game is a rough gem and hey, it got re-released on GoG a while ago so I might finally play this with tears in my eyes! Thank you so much :)
what kinda game scares you the most? like which game would you never play? outlast? resident evil? silent hill? those ghost photograph games from ps2 era? pt? layers of fear or whatever its called? manhunt? condemned?
All of the above. Except Manhunt I don't really consider that scary. Original RE4, 5, 6 aren't scary either. Really if I had to say what scares me most it'd be anything with jumpscares and no guns. If I can't blast the spooky away like FEAR than I def can't play it due to paralyzation from being scared
