Holy shit he's incredible
One man band lets the bird fly. Incredible!
Fingerpicking, lifted up to the heights of Trad. Impossible but real.
This video started my exploration of trad music. So inspiring.
Steve cooney is a truly gifted guitar player
Astounding playing. He makes it sound like an acoustic guitar!
Totally brilliant in every musical way. And not for the first time 😂 Thanks Steve.
I love his playing. As original as any guitarist you’ll hear, and on a Strat!
Playing in DADGAD?
Don't think so. 6th string is in D but I can't work out the other strings...
It works fine in DADGAD on my Lakewood acoustic. I can play it, only just... but there's a lot of practicing to do!
Upyahboysyah:-)
Does anyone know what guitar tuning is used ? DADGAD? Thanks
definitely dropped D, regular pitch, capo 3
@@SuperMaskedcucumber do u mean drop D on top and bottom string with the rest standard? Thanks a mill
@@xntricity6446 not double dropped D, just the 6th string down to D
@@SuperMaskedcucumber interesting, thanks for the info👍
Presente da música irlandesa.
Very nice indeed, I love a good slip jig but I do wish those pesky Irish would not confuse people like me by having multiple names for the same tune...I have always know this as An Phis Fliuch or O'Farrells Return to Limerick. But I guess that's the beauty of Irish music... and the Irish. Well done you!
You're up there with Martin Hayes for the "draíocht" ...just another dimension !!
Excelente 👌
Reminds me of Malian trad as they alot use electric guitars now shows where music came from
Only Richard Thompson and Arty McGlynn rock like that
Greatly appreciate Steve playing an electric
Every . Stopped others form makings there way. No No again
Gorgeous
Outstanding!!! Full of heart and soul!!! Irish music with a beautiful difference! Thank you, Steve!
The master at work ……..
Nice use of a Stratocaster ... I love it !
I have always loved to watch an Irish dancer do a slip jig.Its a step that not many can do well.It takes agility and poise.Beautiful dance.
Cooney plays and looks like a wizard casting spells left and right.
A music master!
What a 🌟. Music oozes from every pore in his body and he becomes one with the instrument. Has only six strings but it sounds like a harp. As Dolly said "Wow ! That man sure can play."
I love it
Wonderful, amazing, touching, inspiring...
Steve is a Master ever this look like a Strat with sensor Lace love his jig ever thank you Steve
Looks like a replacement neck also.
Remember him from my Galway days!
Inspirational. Thank you.
Amazing ever Steve you amazing musician ever this topssssssss thank you
Jaysus!! That was absolutely fookin brilliant!

Not only am I from Limerick but I love that tune and this version is unreal

Hi just see that you play at ArdaraFestival, will come to see, played iCello like to your film, greetings ruclips.net/video/js1ibB0Ix4o/видео.html
Beautiful😀
Conor. Lovely playing. You have still got it. I first heard you playing on the Late Late Trim the Velvet. Love your jigs and especially the slow air. Pat
Steve gave me a lift from Kilcar to Killybegs one time. Great man with great stories.
Just beautiful Conor! So very true to the song version.
Thanks Rita. This coming from you means a lot! If I could play it half as good as you singing it, I’d be doing well
Conor it's magnificent, love it, such a great slow air.
Teelin Ábú!........... ha!
Excellent. #OdedFriedGaon #OdedMusic #Audioded
Used by Horslips on their track "Turn Your Face to the Wall" from the 1975 album "The Unfortunate Cup of Tea"
Pure Magic! I met steve when I was busking as a kid he was a true gent!
Nice video ... and great music! :-)
What an amazing sound and expression!! 😌
Great playing Steve !!
Never heard Steve on electric before, subtle. What is another name for this slip jig?
It's also known by the name An Phis Fhluich, as well as a number of euphemistic translations... beware, translation is NSFW
Thx. Just read the translation. ;) I know I had played the tune myself years ago.
The choice wife.
