Preventing off-road dust inside my Camper Trailer - Part 3
Просмотров 15 тыс.3 года назад
Hi everyone, Today I'll be building the positive pressure system for my off-road camping caravan trailer. This will also be used later on as the evaporative cooler for the camper. It basically uses cleaned filtered air to pressurize the inside of your caravan / camper in order to prevent dust from coming inside. Dust ingress is usually a big problem when off-roading for most campers, canopy's a...

Gas struts - here is a possible way to adjust the struts, be warned, it’s trial and error, and will need a device to hold the shock and a lever long enough to collapse the strut 1. Mount the body end of the strut in the jig, 2. Attach the shaft end to the lever 3. Using a grinder/Dremel/saw, make a very small notch in the shaft very near the mounting end - this notch MUST be made so the finished mounted strut rod WILL NOT collapse so the notch enters the body 4. With strut in the jig, collapse the strut so the notch enters the strut body passing the seal. This must be done quickly so very little nitrogen escapes. Repeat until you have released enough nitrogen so the strut has the pressure you need. This can not be reversed if too much nitrogen is released. This is trial and error, the size, depth, location of the notch must be outside of the useable stroke of the strut. The jig can be as simple as mounting the body end of the strut to a work bench, drill and bolt one end of a 2x4 to the bench so it pivots, bolt the shaft end to the 2x4 to create a lever. The mounting point and dimensions all depend on the strut length and pressure. If the strut is weak enough you can actually use your body weight and collapse it using the floor.
wow Marius this is so good! Well done, really impressive.
With all the tools required, I may be back at paying 500k for the trailer.
Marius - nice videos. Los asb die "foreground music" ek sal liewer na jou wil luister.
Marius - 0:18 - where did you get the 90 degree corner pieces for those rubber seals.
hello , great job, congrats from chile, and take care
Brilliant!
Coming to this video late. Newton-Meter makes sense in terms of the force required to open and close the roof as its a rotational measurement of force. Looking to do something similar but simpler and on a smaller scale. I think it will make my life a lot easier if I place each gas strut vertically in the corner lifting straight up.
Marius mooi gedoen Kan jy dalk die laaste deel van jou bou share
He disappeared into thin air to me too
can you sent the drawing for pop up roof of camper tuck to me ?
Exactly what i was looking for, thanks for sharing man
I watched you build the top for a pop up camper. would it be posible to to do the same thing to the top of an SUV. The consept is to stand up inside my SUV. ?
Are you going to insulate the trailer? Here in Nevada, we have two temperatures . . . Too hot (mostly) and too cold (the rest of the time).
I’m intrigued by the leaf design. In North America we have bolt holes and bushings on both ends of the springs. It’s pretty clear how your design would work just fine. Do you grease the area of the frame opposite of the bolt where the springs slide, or is there a bushing plate the springs slide on?
Brother im a retired Welder and Brake Operator!!!! Mad Respect For Your Skills!!!!
Thanks for the comforting thought, I am using steel and aluminum to reframe/rebuild a 50+ old camper and am concerned about weight.
Awesome buddy ....you are so smart and talented....nice job👏👏👏
i live in Central Oregon and dust is a real issue during summer months. I had not thought about an automotive air filter. I am thinking about adding some form of filter on my max fan to filter the air when we travel. Thank you for the idea.
Still looking at this in 2023 wow speechless
2426.6 lbs before water, food, tools and gear, but you've bulk product (canvas, weatherstrip, etc) you need just a portion of. In my world, a small trailer like yours won't weigh more than 3000 lbs/1360.7 kg. Nice work, for sure, especially since it's all steel. Looking forward to your results using your positive pressure ventilation system for those dusty trails. Safe travels to you from those of us here on the west coast of the USA.
Hi is jou trailer al klaar gebou?
What happened to your progress.
Hi daar is jou trailer al klaar??
very good your videos. I'm building a camper and the information is very important.
Baie nice👍🏻
Hi mate am from UK 🇬🇧 just watching your videos on the camper roof OMG 😮 you didn't half make it hard for yourself well over thought all you Needed to do was borrow a gas strut a one of your cars use 3×2 and some bathroom scales to see what the pressure was and on the back end of roof 😊😊use bed mattress spring pistons they are the same as what camper van retailers use but quarter of price 2 for £30 ebay but if you didn't want a slope you could use the wood and scales trick😂
Hi. I'm drawing my trailer at the moment. I like the angle on your doors. How many degrees did you make it and how much does it stick out or how proud is it from the trailer side?
