    Hey mate, interested in this myself but apparently its illegal to sell multiple vehicles in a year unless you have a license to do so, wondering if you had a workaround for this at all. Little bummed out as the US doesnt seem to have any laws about this

    • @BenFlipsCars
      @BenFlipsCars 25 дней назад

      Hey mate, yes we have some tough laws around it, especially here in Vic where I'm based. 4 is the limit as to how many you can SELL in 12 months. So you could have a couple or friends or family transfer a vehicle into their name here and there if they're up for it (meaning with 2 or 3 other ppl you could do 1 a month). Otherwise if you find you're making good money anyway, you may consider the license. I will probably consider this and make a video on getting the license in the future.

    How to check an engine, if you look under the bonnet and see one of those. It's a Barra, it's fiiiine. The rest of the car will rust around it but the engine will keep going. Only thing I'll say is they really prefer the oil to be right at the top mark. Even a bit low and they can start to get a bit rattly. So you probably want to top the oil off about half way through your service interval, a few hundred ml and it'll be really quiet again. Generally speaking though if it's cold I'd pop the radiator cap and make sure there's no oil or schmoo in it and it's a nice colour, if it's just water something bad is happening. Check the oil level if it's low or smells burnt the car may not have been maintained. Look in through the oil filler with a torch. A gold coloured varnish is ok, black sludge deposits is a bad sign. Oh just after starting the car block the exhaust with your hand for a second. It should seal get quiet and then push your hand off. If it doesn't or you can hear hissing, noise etc then you have an exhaust leak.

    • @BenFlipsCars
      @BenFlipsCars 2 месяца назад

      Legend mate, thank you for all the tips. Haha yes the barra engine goes on forever, too bad the chassis doesnt keep up. Yes I've noticed it gets a bit ticky without regular oil top ups, plus pretty common for them to have gasket leaks which I think I've sorted now. Yep touched on checking the fluids in another clip, can only fit so much in one short, but thanks for the tips! And that exhaust leak tip is a good one, appreciate that! I'll keep it in mind when inspecting the next car

I had to do intake on the au. Was running rich on the first 3 lean on the back 3. Really bad leak but it just compensated, no codes or anything. Worth reading the plugs occasionally even if you have iridiums I think. You don't have to be great at it, but they should all be about the same

    I was trying to fix a little scratch for my door penal and all I did is makes the issue bigger. Now the area is getting bigger because of my poor paiting knowledge. I think I am comfortable enough to do it again after wathing your video. One question, should I sand the whole door panel? becaue last time I did it I just use the tape to square the area, turns out I can see the new layer is like a square after I take off the tape.

    • @BenFlipsCars
      @BenFlipsCars 2 месяца назад

      Glad I could make you feel more confident in having another go! One of my first paint jobs I did the same thing and ended up with a square haha. To avoid that I just tape up the surrounding panel and trim, but not any of the actual panel I am painting. Then just focus the paint on the area you're fixing, and feather out the new clear coat slightly further (than the new paint) into the existing panel. And no, not necessary to sand the whole panel but feather you're sanding out slightly from the damaged area to minimise the contrast.

    • @BenFlipsCars
      @BenFlipsCars 2 месяца назад

      Check out this video, you may find it helpful with blending the the new paint and old paint on the panel: ruclips.net/video/8Y9Jw-0dHng/видео.html

    • @ezer8824
      @ezer8824 2 месяца назад

      @@BenFlipsCars I have checked the video and I think I have the idea what you mentioned. For example. if you have a finger sized panel that need to be fixed, you might want to tape a hand sized panel area in order to work on the finger sized area. When sanding, mainly focus on the bad finger area but also sand a bit further around that finger area in order to minimise the contrast (don't sand all the hand area otherwise it will be like we did before, square new painting). Which at the end, the finger sized area will be fully sanded and a little bit of the surrounding area, but the edge of the tape area should be not sanded. When painting, mainly focus on the fingered area as well but also paint a bit further to the surrounding area (But not all the hand sized area, the edge of the tape area should not be painted as well.) Am I right? I tried my best to use my English to explain what I understand haha.

    • @BenFlipsCars
      @BenFlipsCars 2 месяца назад

      No no, make sure there is no taping up on the panel you are repairing at all! Even if its just a small part of it you are repairing. Otherwise you'll end up with tape lines on the panel you are repairing. However on the surrounding panels that are undamaged, these are the ones you want to tape up. You will inevitably end up getting a little paint and clear coat on parts of the panel you dont want, but thats ok so long as everything is clear coated over at the end. Then you can wet sand and compound everything and the finish should all blend together

    • @ezer8824
      @ezer8824 2 месяца назад

      @BenFlipsCars got it, Maybe my descriptions are not good enough, I think hand sized tapping is too small for finger sized scratch. I would say 8 hands sized taping area for finger sized scratch. Like the 8 hands sized rectangle tapping, but what you gonna fix is the finger sized scratch in the circle middle. While sanding and painting, try to not sand and paint the area around the rectangle otherwise it will leave the lines. But abit futher around the circle is good for the faded affection.

      @BenFlipsCars 3 месяца назад

      Yes I actually do! Here is the link: ruclips.net/video/Ufl_d2fSeBs/видео.html A lot of the philosophy is the same as this video. Just basically have to sand down through all the old clear coat and to an extent the old paint, then can lay down new paint to the smoothly sanded surface and fresh clear coat over the top. If you want the job to come out even better I'd sand all the paint off right down to the panel, but its not necessary so long as you get the surface smooth and remove all the clear coat. Hope this helps!
