civil war gone with the wind exposé
This is how the baseball team got their name
I wonder if any of these men thought about this convo later on...assuming they survived that is.
Why was Melly's necklace censored?
Rand Brooks said that this role completely ruined His career.
Although I love the book and the film, the movie is a romantic fairy tale and doesn’t even attempt to portray the actual horrors of slavery. Sure , maybe a few slaves may of been treated well, but still they had no control or autonomy over their own lives. They were completely at the mercy of their masters, whether they be merciful or merciless. Bottom line, slavery was evil and the Confederacy supported and depended on the subjugation of human beings. Wrong is wrong no matter how genteel and pretty you try to present it
The Shanty town raid wasn’t a kkk action. Please watch the entire movie. Vigilante justice sure but the shanty town was not exclusively black. Also big Sam saved Scarlett. This action had nothing to do with race.
Shelby Foote in Ken Burns great series on the Civil War said exactly the same thing The South had absolutely no chance of winning the war
Melanie was the only one who had the sense to see what was going on
yankees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Big Sam is like a Sherman tanlk, a Mack truck, a diesel locomotive and a steamroller alll rolled into one. One punch from him is like getting hit by a human pile-driver-he's gonna do some major damage with that huge fist of his with nothing but pure raw power behind it. You da' man Sam!
Attached by whites lol aint it fitting .....wonderful film xxx
In the book archie a mountain man is watching the ladies
Despite it's Lost Cause propaganda, GWTW actually acknowledges the Civil War was about slavery!
I grew up in the 60s and man things were different back then.
"..........and arrogance." "THAT'S TREACHERY!" Point proved.
You must be a f****** fool to label this KKK. You have got to be insane, out of your mind and evil.. unless you're using this to exhibit the fact of how wrong everybody is about who the KKK was. These were noble men who knew exactly what they had to do to protect women. In Lawless times like these, you could not allow filthy rapists to get away with living in the woods keeping everyone from being safe. Are you a total ignoramus? All Southerners were not KKK members. And this is the opposite of KKK behavior. If you had half a brain you would realize in the complexity of this storyline these were the heroes among the southerners.. this is what Margaret Mitchell's genius was. The reason why this is a classic in the American Canon and will always be.
💔💔 😈😈
Big Sam is really a sad character. Despite being a free slave who doesn’t have to give any ex slave owner the time of day, Sam still goes out of his way to save Scarlet. And his reward for doing so is that her crazy husband decides to burn the entire shanty town Sam himself was living in. Sure it was to go after the criminals who attacked Scarlet but many people in those towns were just low income people trying to survive or freed slaves like Sam. So all of Sam’s friends and neighbors were all killed or at least had their property destroyed just because Sam wanted to do the right thing and help someone in need
Ironic that Mammy is helping to protect the family when the men are kkk members acting on kkk business. In the book, it was an ex-con named Archie who guarded the family here.
“You arrest all the men that get intoxicated in Atlanta, Im sure you have many Yankees in jail captain” 👩🏼🦲👩🏼🦲👩🏼🦲
What would scalett do to india wilkes if she had that pistol.
Of course they don't explicitly mention the KKK, but I think that everyone who has ever watched this scene knows that that is the group they are referring to!
If Scarlett O’Hara was ever in the modern Georgia of 2024, Big Sam will be the big reason why she supports her black brothers and sisters. She is blessed to have Sam.
Mr. Butler hit it late on the nose without the factories, moving at a fast pace you never win a war. That’s the way it was with World War II.
Where's your husband ? Melanie: he and his friends went out with pillow cases on their heads to torcher black people why? I'm married to my first cousin our parents were brother and sister do you think any thing we do makes since?
I can’t imagine how families finding out this news especially if it’s weeks to months after it happened. Or never even finding out what happened to their fathers, husbands, brothers, sons, etc.
Why is there KKK in the title of this video?
“Why you laughing at” that got me laughing for some reason 😂
Good old Ward Bond.
Sam was one strong guy
Time him gentlemen 😂😂😂
Yankees were just that dumb too lol
The KKK is not like it used to be, it’s lost its respect, but still very violent in certain areas of the country. And Super Tuesdays voters proved it’s making a comeback because of the way the media has been belittling the white race, so it’s rising up again. See the liberals are causing their own demise. Stupid!!!
FAVE clip - but WHY are you called KKK? doesn't sound good - just curious
After the Captain leaves them and they discover Ashley is seriously wounded... Rhett (to Melanie): 'Mrs. Wilkes I am sorry I couldn't come up with a more dignified excuse for your husband's whereabouts.'...Melanie: 'Captain Butler - this isn't the first time you have come between me and disaster. It isn't likely I'd question your methods now....(pause)..Please help me get my husband on the bed.'
Rhett is mảnevh
This scene just shows what liars secessionists and insurrectionists are. "It was a peaceful protest." "They were just tourists." "We want to close the border." Nope modern day Republitards WANT an open border so they can exploit illegal migrants just like the Satan worshipping secessionists used slavery to make themselves rich. And modern day Republitards want the open border so our women can be raped and be forced to carry little babies that will in the future be a greater source of cheap labor. Bow down Trump Magats. Bow down to your commie masters in Russia, China, and North Korea. Bow down and worship the philandering, do nothing (except play golf) Trump. You make me sick. Some day a real rain will come.
Its funny how the Southerner mindset hasn't changed much. Back then, they fought an unjust war to keep slaves and lost. Now, they blindly follow war pigs in wars of aggression across the world underestimating their adversaries.
Besides being my all-time favorite this Scene is illustrative of the fact that no one really understands the origin of the KKK while it ended up being a bad organization it started to defend innocent Southerners from random crimes
good lord kkk ???? really?
Ahh, the beneficiaries of slavery, and all the stuff they have to go through.
Selznick was so smart to sign Gable for this part. He was not much of an actor but his personality and charm fulfilled the part. To think they thought of Cooper?
Gone with the Wind is Birth of Nation with better cinematography and plot development.
They should have listened to Rhett, but they was so hyped to fight they didn't think about the consequences of war.
0:26 😂
Was charles trying to challenge him to a duel. Ashley said he ad steady hands ?
I think the challenge was implied in "apologies aren't enough".
Gone with the Wind was a film about happy slaves and good White people who kept them in their places. It came out of the Jim Crow era in the South, when they spun pretty myths about discrimination.
I will never understand what Scarlett sees in Ashley. He just looks exhausted from dealing with life. He wants dull and lifeless....not Scarlett.
Basically, she only wanted him because she was never able to make him chase her like all the other boys did. And then her ego was wounded when he chose Melly (who was sweet and "plain") over her.
"damn" yankee`s ! "RB" right !
Charles didn't get to do much fighting, as a fever carried him off in camp, like so many other young men in that war.
Actually it was pneumonia following an attack of measles. "Although Captain Hamilton was not vouchsafed a hero's death upon the field of battle, he was nonetheless a hero, dying of pneumonia following an attack of measles. "
This scene shows the true Melanie. Underneath her angelic face exterior lies a loyal, strong, intuitive, and intelligent woman.
