Great conversation! Loved hearing more about Calvin's process, and I definitely want to check out some of those tools at the end! Definitely felt an 'it me' about spending movie watch time working instead.
Thanks for watching! What tool are you going to try first? Are you working on a short film?
@@thevfxprocess I have messed around with Heat, but hearing about it again on the podcast made me want to look into it again. I was initially offput by the license agreement so I didn't end up using it for my project. Yeah, I'm constantly making stuff, and actually helped record the mocap on Calvin's Sira short film.
If you like your male character weak willed, stupid and cruel this is your show. There is no balance of male and females working together and fighting or making smart decisions. That is all done by the female characters. They protect the men, kill the monsters, survive on their own while their male counterparts go insane when alone, die easily, complain or go insane, make the dumbest decisions and get their asses handed to them by the creatures on the planet. This is a very feminist show and it could have been better had they realistically portrayed equality for both sexes. Yet here we go again with the woke liberal ideology. I was very interested in this show but by episode 3 I began to see a very unfair and bigoted pattern towards men. So if you are a liberal, LGVERIZONb590210Q, feminist, idiot, hate yourself as a man, hate men in general, socialist, communist, marvel rivals hating Democrat. THIS SHOE IS FOR YOU!!! ENJOY...😂 p.s. I really did like it until I noticed how sexist and bigoted it was towards men and common sense. I had to quit watching it in order to save my soul.
This is amazing. The feel of this short is so cinematic... The faces especially are so realistic that I had to keep reminding myself this is not a live action movie! Insane! Thank you for sharing! And I can't wait to see his next project! ❤🙏🏼
Thanks for watching!

Jess is my best recent "discovery". I'm 42, but her approach to 90s, Y2K aesthetics is super inspiring and relatable to me.
Its refreshing to connect with equally passionate artists. I am nearing the end of pre-production for a feature comedy drama. Its been a long road about 160 rewrites of the screenplay over 4 years!! The next juice is the soundtrack selection and of course cinematrography planning. Shotdeck is wonderful for this
Я сделаю лучше
That guy is an amazing artist! Great interview too!
Zach Synder said it best. The script is an outline, but you still have the responsibility to make the story and present it in what ever way you can and make the story interesting with the medium you're using.
Absolutely we couldn’t agree more !!! Now what is your favourite Snyder movie ;)
@thevfxprocess don't have one. I like his process overall, so I'd say all his work has a place somewhere for me.
i remember when i started following jess on Instagram and !
beleiveing it was a 3d studio not a one man squad!
that's cool, i'm getting my first job in 3D documentary videos, not the thing that really attracts me though, hopefully I can get with it to the advertising field.
I watched Boys Go To Jupiter at GIRAF Film festival and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. Probably one of the best theatre experiences I've ever had
At this point we should call her photorealism final boss.
Haha! We really should 🙌
This was episode was really fun. Inspiring stuff🔥👍
Thanks for watching! 😀
Jess recently did an incredible talk at Blender Con 2024
If you're a young artist and want some advice on how to get started in the industry, this episode is a must watch.

Jess Wiseman was in the hot seat last year and shared how she built her 3D career at the are of 17!
Unreal can handle it. But can your pc?...
Good point, what is your dream pc setup ? ;)

36:45 - The 'Three Things' to not do. I wrote them down! :) Hopefully I will actually listen to them later, but very good advice!
That’s great you have taken some advice and value from the video . Are you making a short animation ?
Thanks
This stuff is fascinating.
C4D, Houdini, Unreal? If some one is starting today..?
Great question! What would you start with?
@thevfxprocess 😅 i am asking you.. i m 37.. please let me know
Well we're big Blender users here and that wasn't on the list 😎
Blender all day 🔥
what an episode!! So interesting to see this side of such an epic movie love this 🔥 Well done guys once again amazing work!!
Glad you enjoyed it! 😃
👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍
🔥😃
It feels like unreal engine was meant to make movies with, but then they decided they needed to use it as a game engine. It’s fucking terrible.
what
Wow, the details are insane! Being such a huge Deadpool fan, this episode gives a really good insight into the process of creating a great movie!!! Really impressive! Thank you for sharing another great story! 🎉
Thanks for tuning in as always!
🔥🔥🔥
🔥
Ray was such an absolute gem of a human being. Boundless talent, so kind and intelligent. We called him 411, because he always had the answers. If stunts needed information that we couldn't get from other departments, we could always turn to Ray and he'd have the scoop (a couple of the shots in the video above are from the Brass Monkey Bar in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier). We'll miss him greatly.
Thanks for sharing, Dave. It’s clear he left a lasting impact on so many lives while bringing these incredible worlds to life.
🙌💛

I think she is THE perfect example of how masterful texturing and lighting make your scene.
The big film - and the full game! I wanna play a Mega Man game with characters like that.
Absolutely !!! What character would you choose ?

I just finished learning "how to rig a car manually" since the Rigacar addon was not compatible with 4.2.1 version, I enjoyed the process and uploaded the timelapse on this channel yesterday. Thank Southern Shotty! Left a end card mention along with others. Also great insight and interview. GG 3D community!
