2002 Chevy Silverado Window Fix
I'm Showing all the steps I went through to fix a window regulator on my pickup. If you decide to try this, you do it at your own risk. As of this date RUclips has not given me anything. But if watching me helps you then that is good also. The song at the end of the video is Miranda Lamberts "Tin Man". Performed by myself and my granddaughter.

Fixing a Mighty Mule Driveway Alarm

If there's one thing you can count on it's construction workers being destructive. The General Contractor thought if he put a pile of gravel on one side and a gigantic root ball on the other nobody would run over it. But they did. Deer are My 4 Legged Friends.

We have a group of regulars that come around to graze on anything they feel like. Our flower beds are pretty much plants they don't care for so there's no problem there. But we try to grow vegetables and berries so we have to put fencing around them. Otherwise the deer and the rabbits will get them.

My gear shifter will not move and my key will not turn.
My key won't turn nor will my gear shifter
@@PaulaLouvier-d1z on a 2002 Chevy Silverado the gear shift and steering wheel are locked while the ignition switch is off. If your key will not turn the switch to the on position it will not unlock the gear shift or the steering wheel. If that is the case, I can’t help you. Best bet is to call a lock smith or find someone who can pick locks. The ignition switch must be unlocked to change out the lock cylinder.
@@PaulaLouvier-d1z I just thought of something. If your front wheels are turned all the way to the right or to the left when you turn your truck off, there can be a lot of pressure against the steering wheel lock. If that is the case turn the steering wheel in the same direction really hard and try to start your truck.
Hmm I thought Seal coats always go on Top of the grain filler.
@@smmyers5956 I followed the directions. But if I use old school wood and pore filler I will put the seal coat over it.
Does that require key reprogramming??

Great vid and explanation. Right up until the very end. Reset the code on the radio? What code?
@@xmas4203 if you disconnect your battery the stock radio will not function unless you go through the process of unlocking the theft deterrent feature. This requires a code. I believe the factory used a default code on all the radios. I found mine in the owner’s manual. If someone changed the code, you will need to know the new code. Reset the code was not the right choice of words. I should have said “use your code to reset the radio”.

I can not get my key cylinder out of my 2002 Chevy suburban
Does the cylinder turn with the key? Is it stuck in the run position? I guess what I’m trying to say is you must have the key even if you can’t get it out and you must be able to turn the cylinder to the off position.
This is a hard to find video.. ... Thank you so much for your detailed dedication 👏 👏👏👏👏 Others don't have the know-how to share or verbalize information. 💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪
I love this video but I have no idea if you're 35 or 90
I’m just about in the middle, ha ha.
Good video, but the gum chewing was annoying, lol
Spit your gum out before making videos!
Yes 😂 my exact thought
Well you're almost there you have to get the little brass door open and and there's little Springs guides for the cylinder to correspond to the key if you don't get your New new key lock cylinder conform to the old one it won't work for some reason I tried that before I watched your video and that's what I came across my vehicle will start but then turn right off heads up on learning how do-it-yourself or take it to a locksmith so they can make sure your tumblers matched up with your new one
I replaced mine and it would start and shut off immediately, it's a security thing, the computer doesn't recognize the new part(ignition switch). Someone told me that a locksmith has to reprogram it to recognize the new ignition switch. I don't know if this is true or not. My 2000 GMC Z71 is still sitting in my driveway 🥴😠 🗣️HELP!!!
thanks a ton! it seemed like a daunting task, but it was actually easy.
I can tell you that I share your frustration about filling grain on rosewood and mahogany. Through the years, I have tried every grain filler I could purchase without much satisfaction. It seems like no matter what I use, I end up having to spray a lot of lacquer on top of it to get a smooth finish. I share your theory that the filler tends to come out of the pores when you sand. I've also had times when I stained the wood after I applied the filler and that seemed to remove some filler too when I wiped off the excess. I think I have gotten more success with plain old fashioned shellac. It seems to fill the grain better than other so called grain fillers. It also adds an amber tint to the finish which I like. I stain it first and when I first sand the shellac, I come back and spot stain the places where I sand through and apply some more shellac. It usually does not show up in the finished lacquer. I use the shellac flakes mixed with alcohol. I wish I had the answer to this problem, too. Ronnie Nichols
I ended up using shellac. I sanded it back to wood, mixed flakes with alcohol and used a French polishing pad to wipe on 4 to 5 heavy coats of shellac. Then sanded smooth with 400 grit. I had to do this 3 times to get all the pores filled. But I did it in one afternoon. I have built another guitar since then and used shellac on it also. Thanks for the comment. I watch your videos and really enjoy them.
One tip I might pass along to you is that you can use a little coarser sandpaper between coats. It may make the sanding easier for you. You could probably use up to 220 paper between the coats without a problem. The 400 certainly will be smoother but may take more time. Thanks for watching my videos and keep on building those guitars. @@hartshut
Do you need to keep an old key to be able to turn your passenger side airbag off and on or will the new key work?
I don’t know. I’ve never turned mine off.
What did you get part ?? I seen some cheap ones on eBay and Amazon, link ??
Bought one on Amazon. It’s working fine.
How do you do this without the original key? My key is broken and stuck in the ignition and i can't turn it
If your key is broken off in the ignition, you should be able to turn the ignition with a screwdriver or the tabs on the lock. Unless the broken off part of the key is not all the way in or it doesn’t have all the teeth of the key remaining on the broken off piece. Unless the cover for the pins and springs has fallen off completely. I’m only guessing here. If the key was broken trying to turn the lock, I think there may be something preventing the lock from turning. In my case it was the piece that covers the pins and springs (I referred to it as a door or cover. See video thumbnail). That piece is oriented downward towards your knee if you’re sitting in the driver seat. In my case I had to pull the cylinder lock away from the steering column as much as possible and use a very small and thin flat screwdriver to get into the small gap and push up on the piece covering the springs and pins. It had come loose and dropped into a slot in the steering column that needs to be there for a tab on the lock cylinder. If you have a new lock, look at it and you will see what I mean. Pushing up on the cover gets it out of the slot and will allow it to rotate. Then you should be able to turn the ignition lock. Without being there I know I could be completely wrong but that is my best guess. Hope this helps. Good luck.
2002 Chevy Silverado I can't get my key lock cylinder out of. My steering column
My Guy! I knew it was that door/cover causing a sudden sticking action. Unfortunately found out to be very careful taking out the cylinder. My springs and door went flying out it was so loose. Nearly had a heart attack, but I actually found them all. Unbelievable. Thanks for the detailed info. Spot on.

Thank you, this helped me figure out how to remove the cable to replace my shift mechanism. Very helpful.
"CABLE"? What "cable"? There's not a cable anywhere. 🥴
@@m.kasper7646 At the 5:51 mark you can see a black cable going into a white connector. This cable needs to come out to replace the shifter mechanism. It won't come out unless you remove the ignition lock.
Great video
Very good build except for AXLE PLACEMENT let me explain, please! 60% of the length should be in front of the axle and 40% behind it. That way you should get tongue weight of no more than 75 to 100 lbs. Love your ideas other than the axle sitting way too far forward. Color was perfect FORD BLUE.
Very nice video. I could identify with change of plans part way through the project as that’s the way I do it :)
Thank you for the compliment.
Great video I'm looking at building one myself may I ask where did you get the materials or where would you suggest me looking for the materials
Thanks. You can get the materials at any metal supplier. Sometimes a fabrication shop will also sell metal. Good luck with your build.
Appreciated the effort to document your effort, however found the soundtrack was obnoxious and unnecessary. Wish you would have taken the time to point out the important details in real time, like how to make sure the axle is perpendicular to the hitch. Also, how did you calculate the location of the axle, front to back, so that the weight is evenly distributed and the tongue weight is within an acceptable range?
I used the same bent nail shown in the first video (21:45), centered on the forward end of the tongue, hooked my tape measure on it and made sure the spring hanger was the same distance on each side. Since I used that center point on the tongue to run a string line to the rear and made sure the tongue and frame were centered to each other I knew the axle would be 90 degrees. In video 3 I explained that while the trailer pulled fine I felt I needed to move the axle back about a foot. My suggestion is to look at other trailers of similar size to what you want to build and put your axel the same distance from the rear of the boat. Sorry you didn’t like the music. I made it myself with Garage Band. Hope this helps and thanks for your comment.
@@hartshut Thank you for the clarifications. I thought there may be some "simple", "rule-of-thumb" calculations to determine center of weight, axle placement, trailer capacity and so on. Also, wished you would have included cost of materials and perhaps where you acquired the steel. What passes for "music" is often a very subjective topic and everyone has their opinions of course. Personally, it seems most of the YT videos with soundtracks, would be of much better quality without them. I look for sound (no pun intended) information and quality of delivery, not background noises.
As I’m watching this the first thing I thought right away was the front axle leaf hanger was way too far forward. There should he a 60/40%split where the axle should be making the trailer tongue heavy to pull right.

Great video. I know this is an older video, but I'm sure glad I found it. My brother is building riverboats, and I'm a metal Faber and I'll be building his trailers, I am on RUclips looking for ways to cold bend rectangle tubing. My trailers will be 21' long and only need to be about 4' wide with a 68" hub face axle.
Thanks for this video my brother. You really laboured to make it simple.
good info thanks buddy!!
Thanks! I had a Dakota alert that gave a bit of trouble and ate batteries. To fix it would have cost about twice what a Mighty Mule was new. Our FM231 Mighty Mule works great and only started giving us trouble after around 5 years. It's giving false alarms and acting up. I took it all apart cleaned the battery terminals on the transmitter, checked it out and did some tests. Same results. Meanwhile, I ordered another one. Good bang for the buck so far. I'll troubleshoot the old one this winter. It would be nice to have 2 on our long driveway.
The alarm worked for about a year after this repair then it started giving false alarms. I took it apart and found what I believe to be a tiny capacitor burned out. I say “believe” because I’m only 90 percent sure it is a capacitor and I don’t have anyway of testing it so a dark coloring on it makes it look burned. And with so many unknowns I decided to buy a new one. They really are a good buy for the money.
@@hartshut Gosh. Thanks! I have a different receiver(it's round) but my transmitter looks identical to yours. I'll check it out. My receiver actually has a crystal but the transmitter has the blue oscillator. I think I ordered the set from a commercial supplier. I'll let you know if I figure it out.
The washer idea is brillant, I'll definately use that. Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely. Thanks for watching.
