My Mum and John Firth used to run the summit post office up there, which shut down yrs ago now.

Your voice is lovely and calm, but the music is louder so I have to turn it down, then up again when your voice is on, as I watch them at night late and don’t want to wake others up. The movement of the camera is a bit frantic at times, and makes me dizzy…other than that I love your content ..the places your film are places I go, most of them. Thanks for sharing and I’m glad you tube brought your videos to me x x x

Enjoyed watching the trains, bury transport museum very interesting

This walk should include the Weiver’s Seaport, Hollingworth Lake. The Lake was built to capture the rainwater runoff from the South Pennines in the Rochdale area and feed it into the canal at this location with it’s many locks. The water is so cold that they say Captain Webb practised in the Lake before he swam the English Channel.

The concrete sculpture is called the Collyhurst totem. It was created by late public artist William Mitchell. His public art pieces can be found all over England, especially in Manchester.

In 1974 and 1975 I stayed with Harry & Doreen Cheetham at number 37. On the corner, next to the flower shop, there was a post-office from where I sent all purchased LP's to The Netherlands. I have fond memories of my stays. Unfortunately Harry and Doreen are no longer with us.

Wow that brings back some memories. I used to work at Garside & Laycock years ago, definitely unrecognisable now. The big room u thought could be a conference room was the main office which contained all the contract managers, reception & admin. I always wonder what happened to the company every time I drive passed it. Great video, i enjoyed it. Thanks 🙂

In the 80s it was chippy n the end, bakery, post office, butchers, hairdressers, I think then there was a huge spar store on the end. It was where we all played out on the square. It was a nice place to live.

Hi there I used to live on Hudersfield road opposite the quarry i remember it in the 70s but left Newhey in the late 70s having lived there for 8 years from 1968 , i am pretty sure it must have been at least the 1980s when it closed as we used to visit the quarry in the early 90s and it was abandoned then , thanks for the re visit it takes me back a long time 😊👍
