HOW TO: Use Old Oculus Rift CV1 Controllers As Vive Trackers! | Touchlink Steamdriver Tutorial
Просмотров 8 тыс.2 года назад
Very simple and low budget but tutorial but at least it's under 10minutes ;). Link Mentioned in video: github.com/mm0zct/Oculus_Touch_Steam_Link github.com/pushrax/OpenVR-SpaceCalibrator right click "run as trackers" - edit in notepad: ovr_test.exe n 31 HTC lighthouse n 10 y y works with any headset except Oculus headsets Rift s Rift cv1 etc... Quest 1 and 2 do work BUT only via ALVR(via us...
for some reason my trackers are all stuck in one place and wont move?
i have used this method for my cv1 to get a hip tracker for years, but now if i run the program and open ovr advanced settings sometimes it will work and come up or other times it will say hmd failure. but eventually i get it to work . im not sure if anything has been updated since its release. if it has im guessing updating the files may fix the issue . but this program is a life saver.
can you make a video of an updated version of this because i tried it and it didn't work. when i open steam it says steam vr encountered an error
You can use a quest 2 and a quest 3! I connected my quest 2 with a link cable, set it up in a part of my room, put my controllers on my shoes, and opened virtual desktop on a quest 3. It just worked! Everythings perfect, the only thing different is you need to find a good spot for the quest 2 to not loose tracking. sadly only facing foward
how? please explain
@DJChocolateKing follow the same steps in the tutorial. if he talks about the cv1 act like he's saying quest 2. When you get everything set up and connected, you will have to calibrate close to the headset to not loose tracking
Can I use more than 3 controllers with this??
Hi, sadly you cannot because of the software limitations in the oculus software. 3 is the max
@@pixel6580 Ohh okay.. thankyou for replying though I appreciate it ^^
How do you prevent your oculus remotes turning into trackers? Each time everything works except one rift remote turns into a remote and one oculus remote turns into a tracker on steam
Culd i use my cv1 for rift s body tracking?
Sadly not bud. It works with al headsets except the rift s because they both use the oculus software and oculus does not allow 2 headsets to work at the same time
Thats a shame i gues i will have to wai until i can afford SlimeVr@@pixel6580
Hi Pixel, thank you for sharing the video! Your 360 tracking in VRChat with the CV1 is tracked really well. Could you please explain how you achieved this without floating away? It would be great if you could also share the placement of your sensors. Thank you!
Thankyou! I used to float away too, this was thanks to the sensor setup. I have 1on my ceiling pointed down and on the opposite corner i have one all the way ok the floor. This is only possible if there are no objects in you playspace though. And i have one right in front of me at eye level pointed down also. In a triangle pattern. Hope this could help, also quick tip wear the waist tracker on the hips but rotate the tracker towards your back slightly, just enougj so your arms don’t touch it.
@@pixel6580Thankyou so much, i am definitely going to rearrange my sensors to how you placed it.
After like 10 min of play time my controllers dissconect
Thats because of the sensor timeout. It’s a rift feature. Put tje headset on a rotating object likr a fan or use software mentioned in the description ODTRKA
@@pixel6580 when i launch odtrka do i need to keep it open in the back ground
@@wyattMcgee-kb6zc yes, though it doesn’t take away any of my performance when I used it
@@pixel6580 same thank u
There's no run_as_trackers.bat Also I'm trying to do this with Quest 2 or 3, but the Oculus software won't let me have more than one headset active at a time. I absolutely do not want to use Virtual Desktop, but rather the link cable... what do I do?
I dont see run as trackers thing :(
It’s has been slightly changed over time it’s now just the first exe, forgot the name. It has a ui too now :)
HELP MEEEE my knuckles controllers are the trackers and my cv1 is there actual controllers.
In your steam settings go to trackers and mange trackers then assign the correct limbs for the controllers
@@pixel6580 thank you lol but that was 4 months ago I already got htc 3.0 trackers
@@VirtualVertex yeah lmao, mybad was inactive but ay congrats on the upgrade
do you need Oculus Rift CV1 to use Oculus Rift CV1 Controllers
Yes you need the headset for it all to work
Is It possible to use a third controller as a third tracker?
Yes this is the best and most optimal setup
do u have discord bro? i really need ur help with something!
Heya, sorry for the extremely late reply. Hit me up on Discord if you still need help :) pixel4441
@@pixel6580 its all good man i think for now, it was just my sensor that stopped working but for some reason when it falls it goes back to work i dont know why
.bat file is not on OculusTouchLink folder?
Should be. Redownload and extract otherwise check your antivirus
What if I want to replace my vive wands with the Rift controllers? Does it change any steps of this video?
Yes, I'd reccomend checking this video on how to do this: ruclips.net/video/a3lFmFWMdgQ/видео.html
why don't I have the run as trackers bat file!?!?!
This is gone no. Just run the forst exe that pops up.
im able to see the tracker in steamvr and after i calibrate them, they go to a random spot and i can not move them, i have all the other program running so im not sure what wrong
Did you fix it I am confused..
Make sure the rift headset is visible to the sensors. And tape the sensor off with some tape. Use odtrka to make sure it doenst go idle every 10mins
can you show where you place everything
can i use my quest for this and have just as much free movement? or do you have to be right infront of the vr headset for it to track?
Quest as your main headset? Or as the fbt?
I have a tricky question: I have 1 full kit of cv1, but my problem is no hdmi connection (headset still connected, active and showing the didplay - this happens due to limitation of laptop), so without hdmi detected, can I get this to work?
so, if oculus detect no hdmi it doesn't allow the headset to track properly/not work, tho not sure if thats the case in your issue, to test the tracking open file explorer and go to: " C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-diagnostics " (note that this may be different for you) open the oculus debug tool and go to the top bar and hover over tools then scene view. a new window will pop up, try moving your controllers. if tracking works they will be presented to you. if not you may not even be able to open scene view then you know tracking doesn't work. hope this helps a bit :)
@@pixel6580 ye sadly it cant open scene view, looks like the hdmi port connection is a must for everything to work
@@SlappdaBoss do you have a displayport? You can try an adapter otherwise your kinda outta luck
@@pixel6580 nope, i only have hdmi and usb c 3.1 (not thunderbolt) and both of them bounded to the igpu, guess i need new laptop now
@@SlappdaBoss hdmi to usb c?
Man, I should have subscribed pff. I remember that first video. While it wasn't as polished as this one, it definitively helped open up more towards this method! Nice to see the new guide now! Even though I already pulled it out, I did have to go through a couple of troubleshooting! I'll have to give a go with the smoothing, improving the experience is always welcome with these. I think I initially intended on using my Quest 2 plugged to my laptop all while bypassing Oculus, but I learnt a few couple things down the road from the ALVR server, Greg's server, some reddit threads, github pages, etc. Without a doubt, one wants to make sure that their bandwidth's completely fine on more portable devices. Using a powered hub on a USB-3 Slot generally resulted to disappointing results due to the amount of disconnection the CV1 went through. It's possible to use a USB-2 Hub to limit the sensors, which technically could make them operate properly (And of course, benefit from 4 sensors, if one does go through getting those). If one has access to any of the USB-C ports and use some form of Hub for it/them, it's absolutely worth it. Another thing of note for persons using VD or ALVR is also to make sure that they're getting a decent connection or reduce the overall latency. While I did manage to eliminate the disconnection issue, having too much latency on the Quest 2 would cause both playspaces to drift apart from the Quest 2 being unable to keep up. I have been thinking of getting a separate router in the future (Likely an upgrade over the RAX50 I have for the household), but that's a problem for future me pfff. Three sensors plugged into my ROG G15 AE and my USB-C now has a dedicated Stand Hub where I have my CV1 Headset's USB connected. I'm on the lookout for another kit so that I can take advantage of that one free USB-3 port at the back of the laptop for another sensor, alongside getting that third controller for a proper waist/hip tracker. Keep up the good work! :)
When you’re calibrating do you grab all 3 controllers
No. I have 1 in my hand
I really need help with calibration
Is the CV1 strapped to the waist?? Or where do you place it?
I use a third controller so i do not use the cv1 I have it laying around somewhere, I strapped it around an old belt using some zipties, same works for the headset
In the space cal you pick up the rift to make the 8 shape ?
there's a sensor in the headset itself that detecs if something is in front of it or not, get some tape put it over the headset and it will track. best thing to also do is to put it on something that moves or vibrates so the headsets doesn't go idle after 10 minutes
Hey! Quick question, whenever im trying to run the OculusTouchLink, it's tracking my actual Qust controllers and not the CV1 Controllers. Everything is connected, OpenVR is detecting them, and I'm using your settings. is there something I'm missing?
Make sure that the sensor on the cv1 is covered when using it
In the end of the video your rift cv1 was still connected so if I were to just unplug my cv1 and use my valve index as my headset then will the full body still work?
No? Since you use the cv1 for the fullbody
No? Since you use the cv1 for the fullbody
@@pixel6580 So steamvr will detect my cv1 and my valve index?
Thanks for these videos! They do a lot to allow persons to get into the FBT scene at an affordable price! All while technically reducing some E-Waste out there :). I recently got my hands on a CV1 kit (Plus one extra sensor, hah!) and have been trying to fiddle with ALVR (Which I plan on using with a cable through some modification or two). I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing wrong, but SteamVR picks my Quest 2 fine on ALVR but it ignores anything related to the Rift and the Lighthouse (sensors?) when I check on OVR-SC.
Might have something to-do with your file config, can you send the top text in the .bat file for the trackers?
@@pixel6580 Certainly :). "ovr_test.exe n 31 HTC lighthouse n 11.1 y y n"
Hm, starting to notice that my Quest 2 controllers have become "trackers" (Still recognized as controllers, but without any input.) I wonder if this has something to do with ALVR restarting SteamVR?
@@Code_String try changing it to this ovr_test.exe n 31 HTC lighthouse y 11.1 y y n I remember alvr being slightly different compared to virtual desktop, also in the steam settings menu go to controllers/input and configure trackers you controllers will probably be set as trackers that's why
@@pixel6580 I've had to change some settings on ALVR, it was assigning my Quest 2 controllers as Rift's. I've changed the setting a little, it doesn't seem to have changed that much. The Rift CV1's controllers are detected by Oculus Touch when I move them around, they just don't want to show up or pair with SteamVR when I'm using my Quest 2.
my rift doesn't show up in the target space in the space calibrator. im using a quest 2 with alvr wireless, in the touch link driver txt i tried "ovr_test.exe n 31 HTC lighthouse n 11.1 y y n" and ovr_test.exe n 31 Oculus_link oculus_link n 10 y y n" i have no idea what could be causing this, my rift is connected and all the controllers are on.
ovr_test.exe n 31 Oculus_link oculus_link n 10 y y n that's what I use, try that :) Kinda weird how it doesn't detect anything, there is a little arrow for the target space try clicking that too, it may have not selected the space for you automatically
@@pixel6580 yeah i clicked on the target space and there was nothing there every time i tried and when i go into the oculus app to see if they are both connected usually the rift has a red outlined circle next to it it says that its due to audio but i dont think thats the issue of why its not connecting. when i open the script to run the trackers the x and the y positions are 0 on the window so its like its not even being tracked, but when i go into the rift they track perfectly fine.
@@c4arm software doesn't like it when the oculus has that audio or hdmi error
This works great for me. I use driver4vr version. Attaching the controllers is a bit cumbersome. Hope to upgrade to something smaller one day
so this works with the quest 2? Does it work whilst the q2 is plugged in or do I need to use Virtual Desktop or ALVR? thanks <3
You have to use either ALVR or VirtualDesktop. do keep in mind that if you using a link cable you can only use ALVR
@@pixel6580 ahh thank you! :D
Question, is it possible to use this method along side Nintendo Joycon with Slime Tracker software? Hope you can experiment on this, tq!
Should be totally possible yeah
Thank you to all the amazing contributors who created such amazing software! This brings FBT to so many people at around a $125 price point, or to anyone who has since upgraded their HMD setup. I love it and have been using it since July with amazing HTC-like results! I will be receiving my HaritoraX 1.1's in January, but this is an amazing tie-over. Much Love, and Phenomenal Tutorial.
epic.
are you using ALVR yourself? connected with cable or not?
Virtual desktop
@@pixel6580 gotcha. also I'm a little confused with the "use headset as tracker" thing. I have 2 controllers and the headset, so mine would be y y n, correct? I use owotrack for waist tracking.
@@Feuerstein420 correct! y y n is good if you use owotrack
@@pixel6580 so far i think i've set everything up correctly, but having issues with ALVR, at first it was running fine, just having issues with calibration, the cv1 controllers werent actually moving, only rotating. for some reason steamvr wasnt registering that my rift sensors existed either, so im not super sure on what the cause of that is. any suggestions?
@@Feuerstein420 steamvr doesn't show the sensors so don't worry bout that, first see if your rift sensor is blocked by something otherwise tracking will be 3Dof (rotation only)
thanks for the video man, it helps people a lot, I had already done it with your old tutorial but I had to ask some friends for help who used Rift cv1 as a fullbody too, anyway thanks for the video, would it be possible to make a video of solving calibration problems or maybe a video of how to connect the ALVR?
I can surely look into making an alvr video. Not very familiar with calibration issues so might look into that! Thx for the feedback :)
Can u also make a tutorial vídeo of the OVR-SmoothTracking?
or just add an extra part to the video that talks about ovr smooth tracking
Because is super simple
@@Prooxy14 can prolly make that a youtube short in fact cause that is a very simple tutorial
is it full 360
Depends, 2 sensors? Can be, 3 yes.
is the cv1 on your hips?
No, i have 3 controllers
@@pixel6580 ahh i see, is it possible with 2 controllers?
@@cookie_sharkz yes, you can use the headset for the waist or your phone using owotrack
@@pixel6580 ok i might try that
i hope my cv1 cable will cooperate so i can do this
do you need the headset for this or can you do this without the cv1, just sensors and controllers
You need the headset in order for the controllers and sensors to work
its 2 am I have exams tomorrow and I dont even own an oculus yet It's amusing to watch this
❤
Could this work with the rift s, it doesn't have the sensors
Nope, the rift s uses the oculus software and so does the rift cv1. Oculus cannot use 2 pcvr headsets at the same time.
@@pixel6580 darn, I still have the old headset "rift touch" but upgraded to rift s

Great video 👍🏼
Will i need a rift heaset for this? or can i just buy 2 lighthouses and controllers
