Beautiful. Greater Roadrunner on that precocious bird in the beginning. Now I have a question. This is Jan. 19, was that MLK weekend? Trying to figure how in the Sam Hill there are over-crowded parking lots in Big Bend in January. Crazy.
This seems to be high season in the park. The visitor center in Rio Grande Village, open now, is actually closed in the summer. Too hot!
Loved Santa Elena Canyon. I was at the visitor center in 1980 and backpacked up around the plateau and back. Always dream of going back. thanks again for the inspiration.
A week ago you could have built a snow man ☃️ ⛄️ 👨 lol
@danpayan9468 So we hear! Glad we're a week late for that.
I like the music, GrandUncle Brian, Finn
I'm glad you're enjoying the music, Finn! Say hi to your mom and grandma for us
Finn likes the music. He recommends more music. 😊
How old is Stuart? Greetings to Rick!
I'll pass that along! Stuart is around 12 years old
I’ve been watching your videos for a while now, and honestly, your storytelling and production quality are outstanding. It’s clear you put a lot of time and effort into your content. To help your videos reach a broader audience, there are a few key things you might wanna focus on-like creating strong hooks to keep viewers watching, designing eye-catching thumbnails to boost click-through rates, and using effective CTAs to drive engagement. These strategies can really help elevate your video’s overall performance. If you’re up for it, I’d love to chat more about how to make sure your hard work really pays off.
Thanks for taking us along on your adventures . I've wondered what the White Sands was like . Many blessings on your happy trails 👣 !
Thank you for your interest! We thought White Sands was a beautiful place
completely mesmerized by the White Sands. thank you!
@oujoaklandca675 Thank you! Yes, White Sands felt almost like another world.
We followed you most of last year and look forward to this adventure as we have a camper as well. Your breakfast visitor was a Rock Wren; largest elevational range of NA birds from minus whatever at Death Valley to upwards of 10,000 feet or so.
Thank you for your interest! We didn't realize we had such a celebrity bird visiting us that day!
Very cool. I have to check out that area near Owl Creek. Thank You.
Thank you for your interest!
Completely loved your journey. The ending was the best. Inspiring.
@@oujoaklandca675 Thank you for following along!
Thanks for letting me vicariously experience the PCT. The tunnel behind the Falls was cool. Cooler still was your reunion with Rebekah, and with Stuart.
@@ricknewell1019 Rick, we couldn't have done the hike without your help with Stuart. Thanks so much for being willing to host him for so many months!
Your journey is truly inspiring. It seems like you're having an amazing time with nature. The way you capture the different aspects of nature feels almost magical, and it really shines through in your videos. If you need any help getting these magical videos to new audiences, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Thank you for sharing your journey! I love how you have taken your time and enjoyed the adventure!
@DeniseMendoza-h6o You're welcome! We're glad you enjoyed them
Beautiful twisted falls. Scary trail there. Nice video
@@suzannemarshall7458 Thank you!
Great adventure. Inspirational . ❤ From Georgia.
@@bobfuller2717 Thank you!
Most enjoyable! Been through that gorge with a few vloggers and they all show the tunnel behind the falls and some bridge shots but you guys, as usual, really gave me a feel of the beauty of that area and all the waterfalls. Thank you again!
@@lizadams6177 Thank you! We're glad you enjoyed the videos
I enjoyed watching your adventure :) Thank you for sharing.
@@markbaker5639 You're welcome! We're glad you came along with us
“Snorer’s dorm” lol 😂
Hey man I thrued the PCT in 21 and 22. I had to laugh at your description of that campsite at the 6:31 mark as being very crowded. Not because I think you were incorrect, but because I get it. I was 56 on my last thru hike and if there was more than.....well anyone's tent but mine, then I felt i was camping in a bubble!
Are you not seeing deer everywhere on this part of the trail?
We saw no deer really in this part of the trail. Or very few.
@@movingforward5599 well, those Oregon deer are dumb then. There were so many lush and beautiful areas you just walked through. If I were a deer I would be hanging out in those meadows.
@@deonlee373 too many cougars nowadays and the deer are seriously thinned out. They changed the hunting laws in last 20-30 years and......presto chango. By bye Bambi.
@@deonlee373 Cougars on average kill/eat one deer per week - doing the math, that's a lot of deer, in a year.
I dunno...are you going to be content with your little patch of northern Idaho when you are done with this adventure?
We already have plans for other adventures! Some of which will be in Idaho to get to know our new home state better, but others will be in other areas
When you camp in an area that has other hikers/campers, do you ever socialize with them in the evening or is everyone too tired and just wanting to turn in early?
For the most part, everyone did their own thing: cooking dinner and going to bed. At this stage of the hike, the hikers who are left on the trail are very focused on making it to Canada (or whatever their end goal is) and are hiking long days to make that happen. They tend to go to bed early.
What a treat! Three of your videos in one day! Well worth the wait. Thanks for sharing.
@@lizadams6177 Thanks! I have to wait until I get good wifi or cellular signal to upload, so sometimes I have to hold onto them and then upload all at once
@@movingforward5599 I figured.
Like seeing the rain, the forests need a good soaking now and again.
Some amazing photos! Linda... Some is that trail reminded me of our Hawaii volcanic hiking day!
Lovely video!
Such beautiful skies! Love Mt Jefferson area... (When you see the green vs all the burned area!)
Oh wow! So much fun to run into the trail maintenance crew with the cross cut saw! Thanks for the education on them. I mentioned my daughter using one a few vloggs ago. I just can’t tell you how much I appreciate your videos! I follow a few vloggers but did not realize the vastness of those lava beds. And you don’t even complain like other hikers. You do it with a twinkle in your eye and a smile on your face! Thanks again for sharing. Safe travels!
Thank you so much for the encouragement! We're very glad you're enjoying our videos so much.
Kind of reminds me of Craters of the Moon national monument in Idaho.
Love you guys, your gentleness and careful observation. I'm in Big Bear Lake tonight listening to the coyotes sing and watching your video from the comfort of my cabin (though I did take a tough hike today of only 8 miles). Keep going!
Thanks for the kind words! Big Bear seems a long time ago, but we enjoyed the zero day we took there
I liked the yellow pack you picked up at REI Tehachapi. What was the brand?
@@nancychristiansen5941 It's an REI Flash 55
Just found you two. Love your calm interesting and beautiful video. Love crater Lake too
Thank you! We're glad you're enjoying the videos
Snowshoed in there one time. Nice. Thanks for your video.
Do you have trail names?
Yes: Grits and Clementine
Very interesting area. Thanks for sharing!
Our pleasure!
That is a BEAUTIFUL area!
Linda... The lava trail reminds me of Hawaii! Climbing down and back to snorkel at Captain Cook's monument
Nice enjoyable video. Fun seeing Roadrunner who I’ve been following too!
looks like a nice day in town
Following you daily. Best wishes on further adventures. The Black Bear has a bazillion franchises, well, 161, 13 states, out to Arkansas and back, founded in Mt. Shasta in 1995. An "upscale" Dennys?
Wonderful tour of Bend! Thank you.
Love love love a cool beetle!
Permitherin applied to clothes works well in PNW for mosquitoes and ticks
Hi. Yes, we've used that in the past, but decided not to for this hike.
Ahhh the green “moss” is lichen 😀very common in PNW
I’m enjoying your videos so much! You are a delightful couple. Thank you for sharing your observations.
@@lizadams6177 Thank you! We're glad you're enjoying them
Yes they are! They are crazy.... But delightful! 😂
How was the water flowing up at McIvers? I've only ever been in the spring but wondering if it's still good in the summer. Nice spot for the 2nd night, I think that's the base of Morris Peak if I am not mistaken? The trail to the peak is quite interesting there. Have hiked up and down the stretch in this video many times, good to see some others out there!
@SlykDesigns We were at McIver's back in May, I think, so it's been awhile. Not sure how the water is flowing now, but it was flowing well when we were there.
Looks like it was mid-June that we were there, not May...
Your excitement seeing Crater Lake is contagious. It’s beautiful
It was! We never get tired of visiting there
Awwww... Such amazing pictures of Crater Lake! Wish we could have met you there!! 😭 Yes it does look like a monkey head! 🤔 Whoo hoooo.... Such a milestone for you guys! Loving all your photography!
