Thank you so much everybody. This video is pretty old but if it means anything, this really helped me out. Imagine replacing a battery, and then worrying that by fixing one huge problem you caused another! Glad to know I just didnt reconnect it all the way.
Mine just broke 😢
if nayone can here hep me... i was replaring my laptop the black part on the top of the connector that moves up and down and then locks the ribbon cable in place broke i sthere a way just to replace that black part please help thankyou
From what I've seen people say in other posts about this issue, best bet is probably to by a used motherboard that doesn't work and would just be for parts. Then just carefully remove the clip from that motherboard and put on your laptop.
@@chuckcarroll7019 hmm i think thats the last resort... Thanks for the reply 😊
had the same effin issue with my hp x360 when also replaced the battery and ssd
For the the black clip is broken and the upper pins seem to be tempered with. What do i do because this connect I/O unit and even the power button. My dell xps 13 laptop isn't coming up
I know it's an old post but you press the black clip down and then you push forward so it closes towards the white connector.
tnx bro

I sadly upgraded laptop , hhd to ssd , which I had to remove the keyboard to access hard drive for this swap , anyway short story I got involved in screws ( to open laptop a couple of times ) and all that which after reconnecting everything I had trouble with that one last one the keyboard and being in this state of " tired and get all done asap " I broke the black piece which holds the keyboard cable! Nightmare soon began for me with getting the keyboard cable to be fastened in place ! So for about a week , every other day I got into this battle to make keyboard function, thought just about all forms of tape, masking being the better , anyway I got it to work but some keys began to not function , so I was stuck! I tried and tried and at times I had it working so I thought until I noticed some keys not working , so stuck! At one point I thought I should just get a bluetooth keyboard and use laptop as a desktop , so yeah , but I just could not let it as is and kept working around the various taping methods which I gave up but thought about gluing the black fasterner to a business card!? So I took a pause decided to really peak inside and just investigate around the motherboard connector area, after a good study of it I noticed the pins , there is a small degree of space between motherboard base and the keyboard cable! ( the same about as the black fastener thickness) I had a couple of types of thin materials I was going to try to fasten on top which did not work so with the study of the distance of motherboard base and keyboard cable is a very very thin space for which I just went with it and slid a thin piece of material (metrocard which is plastic thin plastic) slid it on top of keyboard cable as the cable fit into connector ! It amazingly slid in and the keyboard cable got secured beautifully in place , later after I connecting all turn laptop on , all keys so far work ! It has worked so far with all keys functioning THANK GOD I hope this reckless handling of my upgrade experience help !? I don't recommend this but it has worked , a alternative from taping and retaping which kept slipping slightly out causing non functioning keys!
So you attached the plastic material to the cable and then fitted it in or you used the plastic to wedge the cable into place? I have exactly the same issue, except my black connector piece broke off and got lost - inside - the laptop somewhere. lol

I was trying this last night on a E520 Lenovo Thinkpad Edge

I removed that black plastic part .... And now I'm kinda feeling fucced up.
Hold the ribbon in place and use a hot glue gun let it dry. Hot glue is removable if needed 😉🤔
there the worst type of conector ever eh ! ive broke so mnay iys a joke !
Put the cable further in Thats all
i just noticed this video as i was having the same problem..for me i just pluck out the clamp and installed it up side down and it connects just like that
Thanks!!
Thanks for bringing this up. The responses here saved my day... Thanks everyone.
wite or black line on the ribbon shows how far it should go in to the slot
Have you tried inserting it
Always HP and issues with their f..... connectors. I broke HD connector on an old Pavilion 15 recently and just can trow away piece of junk
use pencil erasure end to push the cable in with
Push the flat cable all the way in. Close the latch down. Hold it down with your finger. Put some crazy glue on a toothpick. Apply glue on both outer edges of closed latch and wait until it dries.
Thx so much this video really helped me fix my keyboard ⌨️ 👍good man
TRICK ON THIS ON IS ADD PICE CLEAR PACKING TAPE ON TOP SIDE NOT BOTTOM WERE PINS ARE THEN ADDED THICKNESS PIECE CLEAR TAPE IN TOP ONLY WILL GET IT TO PRESS IT DOWN IT WORK ON TOP SIDE OF RIBBON CABLE ADD SMALL CLEAR PICE TAPE TO EDGE OF IT ONLY THEN PUSH IN PUSH CLAMP DOWN SHELL HOLD THEN CLEAR PICE ON TOP TO HOLD DOWN MAY WORK OUT FOR YA
WoW! Check ruclips.net/channel/UCqhG0Bg6oPSNdEDp82SOXMQ
Do you not have a repair place, for computers, around where you live, that white line across the cable is there for a reason, are you playing with us, just look at other ribbons, wow.
WoW ! Nice idea ! I tried www.amazon.com/bluekeyworld Cable Clips and it helped my organization
Anyone know a way to keep it in place without the black bar? Cuz I broke that piece and apparently tape doesn’t work since I think it cuts off the electricity
did you find a solution for the black bar?
@@ajnacounselling2352 I stashed the laptop away since and never ended up fixing it. I think the only way to do so is to replace the whole part which isn’t easy. Otherwise just take it to repair shop.
@@aliyoussef8201 IV seen people hold it in place and hot glue it down hot glue is also removable if needed 🤔😉
I am having the same thing with my acer so flimsey i have to mess around with a very short cable cant even get my hands underneath to see what i am doing but when i was looking at yours its much better at least you can fit in easy well lets get to the point you could try using a glue gun i think it would work i cant see it doing any harm and once set hard will or should keep in place
did it work with your asus i have the same prob my black bar is broken and the cable does not stay and connect
İ put a eraser just abone the ribbon. İ cut the plastic erazers thickness according to the space above it. İt compressed the problem part of ribbon under. A fee trias yielded optimal result.
So on my laptop the connector snapped when I was putting it back together. Any idea where I can get a replacement from
try ebay or amazon
Any strip cut off a peice of blister wrap plastic worked for me
You can try cut up plastic piece such as from those ram memory stick plastic packs and cut it to the tip of the size and then tape it down to fit the tip end... This would then add tension in place to compress the pins in place which will be a tight fitting. If you can get it in.. tape it down and test it afterwards
why not go full newfie and just roll up some tape and tape it down? lmao
Everything works except enter fck i cant move in bios
You have to pull up the black thing but don't push it up very much because it's fragile and then insert the ribbon into it ,as far as you can and then press it down. I hope it works.
I've watched a lot of videos and this suggestion is right.
Here's the deal: the ribbon as you have it positioned now is flipped on its back. The tension from that will not allow it to close. Turn the keyboard over in it's installed position, the ribbon would then be flat with no tension. Lift the top just enough to be able to insert and plug in the ribbon, close the clasp and you're done.
Man i really need to learn English grammar phrasal verbs to actually understand your comment.

Thats not properly connect the cable, u need to up more that locker so the blue ribbon can fit
i have the same issue BUT the hole clip broke off i have an HP 15 how can i put it back
Not sure, I think something similar with me happened with a Nintendo Switch joy con. The black plastic clip was stuck, so when I tried to pry it up to get the ribbon cable out, the black clip broke off. I tried kapton tape, but no luck.
u have to lift up the black bar on the connect and insert it. then place it back down
Try double sided tape thin type though, put it on the ribbon cable underneath and also on the plastic clip underside too, should work i have done it a few time before on repairs to clients laptops, use the tape and double it up if you have a gap from motherboard to the ribbon on the keyboard, pack it i think the term is called, then peel the double sided tape from the plastic strip lock mechanism and make sure the keyboard ribbon is in then push it down and make sure its stuck firm. Then when done, pop some tape over the whole thing to give it security that it wont come out during transit and moving about...Hope that makes sense folks....
my keyboard has fell out I need help putting the ribbon thing back in but my think wont let me in
Put the tape or tape a pad over the entire connector with the cable already inserted
Thanks dude.. that fucking yellow plastic is blocking it..
ruclips.net/video/oLzYfBHpWLE/видео.html site showing this repair...is next video after yours
found this video when trying to think of a way to fix an old Toshiba ... the problem is that while i was careful, the plastic clip itself broke into like 3 pieces when it flipped up ... i wonder if the heat (Toshiba's are known for overheating ... at least in that era ... @ 2008-2009ish) made it so brittle ... I use a usb KB with it now but i still have the old one here and the connection wasn't complete but it did work when i plugged it back in ... no matter what DIY method i tried ... it'd just wouldn't stay-put without that black clip firmly holding it down
I think I'm having a similar issue with a Nintendo Switch joy con. The black plastic clip was stuck, so when I tried to pry it up to get the ribbon cable out, it broke in 3 pieces. So now there's no black clip and kapton tape isn't much help. Did you ever find a fix?
Here's what you do, close the top... Slam it 12 times on a hard surface and throw it in the trash. HP's are Hot Garbage. Buy a non HP Laptop, this will resolve all your issues.
superglue that bitch
Yep for future reference... use gorilla tape and a spongy piece of door tape weather stripping to keep the pressure on it. Meow. Cats rule.
also tally your score like this "|||||||" with a Hard Working Sharpie.
take a break. Try Playing Cards. then try again.
or a small piece of a window blind
i just need to replace the clip for the motherboard
im having the same issue BUT the hole clip broke off
