I only agree with some of your points. If you have to choose between Spanish and Mandarin, I recommend Mandarin. I once heard a joke about an American who, after spending a lot of time learning Spanish, went to a Spanish restaurant to order food, only to find out that they were still speaking English.

The more language you learn the more you gain in the international sphere. But not everyone will have opportunities to make use of multiple languages. So there is no universal this approach is best for everyone.

That’s why they have this term 啃老族 - living off the old which is their parents. Interesting to see this reversal of values now from older days of filial piety where it’s the adult kids giving allowance and money to aged parents.
