Other people like sun and sand, or a noisy party. We got what we prefer; fresh snow in isolation, as we ventured outside to see in the new year before setting off to Kiruna.

Yesterday we saw the torrent of water gushing out from our viewpoint. Today we were on the other side and saw it hurtling in.

Abisko is tiny, with only around 85 permanent residents. If you walk for a couple of miles, you'll reach a canyon. Walking around it slightly, we reached a viewpoint with a perfect view of rushing water and a group of people climbing the ice.
