Hello Anthony my name is Ian Birkett England .friend of Austin.I listened what you said regarding Kevin's birds .I kept pure Peter harper stuff ex frank pickles.startad in 1992 with 7 or 8 birds directley from peter including.the 1987 rose bowl champion andher half brother .very hard to fly at first for my self novice roller flyer.after about 18 months started to get the hang of them.i thought these are ok I will put some time into them.about 3 years later 1996 won aerc old bird fly 90 outof 100 for quality.about 8 weeks later won uk natainol old bird fly same team.following year won aerc old bird again .following year came 2 nd aerc old bird and won uk natanol oldbird .just kept flyingthem andtrying to put my stamp on them.fast forward to about 2005sh peterharper askedmecould an irish lad ringme regarding some birds .i said yes .kevin got intouch i told him at that time i coul nothelp but if he could wait i would try my best .may be9 months later 3 pair of good adult rollers fou there way from wigan to belfast .one was a cock about 9 year old the hen i told him to pair it to was full sisyer to mybest hen at that timme time later a kit of adult about 16 strong went to him .and later still a good number of oung birds about 4 weeks old.all in all about 3 dozen birds total give or take .i said to him on one ef our many lenghthy phone calls calls if you cantdo any thing with them you may as well pack in.i kept that family pure pickles Harper for 27 years remember I started with 8 birds.i never crossed them .they call them birkett rollers now.over the years I selected my stock with traits that I was looking for so the birds became a bit different from the pickles Harper birds.if you kept rollers all your life we would still be trying to improve them.the birds I sent to Kevin where all ready very tight family.thathadbeen winningflys way back when frank pickles had them then Peter then my self.kevin spreadthem around irelandnorth andsouth and perhapsin a small way they are helping you lads do good withthem pure orcrossed.good luck with your birds how ever they are bred. I haven't had it my self but I have heard of birds bumping or getting wing slapped in the air jerry. All I can say is let it rest for a week or so and see if it's sight returns buddy

Give the bird a bit of time Jerry and see how it goes and if it's condition doesn't work out then.. it's up to you to what's right for you and the young roller

Hello ex roller flyer here kept them 27 years in uk.why wont your birds lift to the height YOU want them at .different weather here in uk .never had problems getting and keeping them up where I wanted them.for as long as i wanted them there.Idontmean pinned out orskimming the roof tops i mean at the right height for watching them and high enough so they are not holding back in the breaks probably about 200 feet .is it a problem in the USA.must be a pain in the but if it is.I alwaysfound right birds fed correctly veryfew problems but as i say very differentweather over here.goodluck with your new hawk flag mind youdont chase your youngbirds away for ever.Idontfancy coming home and finding a wolf waiting for me .just my opinion forwhat its worth.

Appreciate him judging. But he lost me when he said he can score the birds better and see depth when they are farther away from him. However it’s your judge to keep the birds within 200-300 feet.

Good podcast. Personally to me I think depth should be based off the formula you mentioned Chacon. 1.0 is 10ft and .1 is 5ft and so on all in guesstimate to the best of one person ability. Judging multiplier based on personal impressions on wow factor can get acclimated and lead to inconsistent even from one person.

Evenings are the time I think they can keep up with the most. It wasn't til I came in a few days strait and flew right after work that I realized the hawk knows my schedule and he literally did..... Soon as I kind of randomly flew my birds I never got hit.
