Hi Andy thanks for the video. How are the light holding up? Any issues? What’s the brand name for both the lenses and the LED lights. Thanks
@@alexoliva2012 i dont remember the lens brand. They were from amazon or rock auto, i dont recall, but the bulbs are made by beamtech. I use beamtechs in all the LED conversions and they have performed flawlessly.
I just bought an ‘04 limited with the 6.0. I was bouncing between that and the V10 as I don’t have any previous experience with an automotive application diesel engine. I simply couldn’t find a V10 in my area that was in good enough condition to want to put money into it and trust my family’s lives with. My wife happened to come across a beautiful one owner truck nearby, in Missouri, that was just like one I was watching for a few months but missed out on because we decided to spend the money on a storm shelter after a particularly nasty storm earlier in the year. I have no problem with doing everything I can to keep this truck for the rest of my life. Now I’m watching countless hours of RUclips trying to learn everything that I can about the engine and making a list of all the maintenance and upgrades that I’m going to want to tackle over time.
I have a question is the 6.8 10 cylinder good to move cars ?
Nice video! Just subscribed
Did not even see Torque tool?? You did not use it???
@@Eeropolvasti i used a standard torque wrench. I just didnt record it.

I will be buying an excursion to replace my Suburban Z71. I hope it will be as good as the Suburban. Also, will get an f250 as well around the same time.
0-60 V-10 15 Seconds 7.3 13 Seconds 6.0 11 Seconds
What yr truck is the new plate from, also did you have to buy different lengths bolts ?
Thank you so much for the videos. Really appreciate it well done.
@@darwinhippen7010 you are welcome. Thank you for the kind words.
Do you have links to the parts and tools?
Good stuff ! Very in depth and good views/explanations. Heading to garage to deal with my #4 injector throwing a circuit low code. Not gonna pull it out but rather unplug the harness and test from there regarding resistance for the coils. If it's bad, then I'll order that coil/plug from that website you mentioned. If not, I'll start chasing the actual harness and see if maybe there's an issue from the injector to the FICM. I do know that my harness clip is broken, but I'd suspect different codes to be thrown if there was a connection issue. It's been the same code for a couple months. Runs rough only at about 2k-2500 rpm. Any thoughts? Would a broken clip on one of the harness' cause the same code, forever and a day, or would you also think that it would throw a different code here and there being a loose or bouncy connection at the pins of the harness to the FICM... ?
@@OMAR-er9ecthanks brother. I appreciate the kind words. From what I have seen, the FICM harness connections (even with a broken clip) dont move very much and seldomly come unplugged by themselves if the ficm is properly bolted down. If one was coming unplugged, you would have alot more codes than just 1. It sounds like that #4 may be failing intermittently. Harness issues arent too common unless they are damaged from mice or rub thru.
I'm adding an external this weekend
Hey friend, Can I change the front inlet filter just by disconnecting the hose? Or do I need to vacuum the lines to disconnect.
@@DieselFi5e the refrigerant needs to be recovered, then u can change the front orifice tube, then put the system under a vacuum and charge her up
@@BrotherhoodOfTorque awesome, so from a non hvac minded person like myself. Can I do that at home myself? Or is this a thing at a shop I gotta do?
If the nub on the big filter is down what happens ?
Thank you! I have been digging everywhere I could to make an educated decision about my intake. Reading through the forums just made things even more confusing. Thank you for investing the time and effort into providing a more definitive answer to this debate. I can now make a educated decision on what to install in my OBS 7.3..
@@billypogue330 your welcome. S&b makes a great product. We install a ton of them at my shop
FWIW - the V10 really does best with a 4.30 rear axle. As far as I know you couldn't get that in an Excursion. Drove my F350 V10 (4.30 rear) back to back with same year same configuration 7.3 and my truck felt like getting into a race car after driving the diesel. It was shocking - did not see there being a gap like that. The Powerstroke I drove has a 3.73 which is good for where its powerband is. But I still want to like the diesel in spite of the gap in unloaded performance between the two.
I have a 2010 gmc sierra and my side mirrors work but they only go move in wards and go down and my automatic door lock will not lock or unlock by the button. Any ideas?
Had a tuned v10 thing moved
man I wish ford would make the excursion come back
i have several customers and friends with excursions. Air conditioning performance on these is such a challenge here in Texas with high humidity and heat especially with such a huge area to cool and a fixed displacement compressor coupled with both a fixed office tube and a expansion valve. Really we need a adjustable park idle speed also. I will try this vot.
is there a way to text fuel pump out of truck?
Thanks,Awesome video! I have the v10 excursion and the ac works intermittently on low, if I turn it on high she starts blowing warm and suggestions?
One more thing the refill canister gauge on the AC fill can goes into the red. I personally have never added any refrigerant.
Sounds like a dirty condenser, plugged orifice, or overcharged system
That top filter is filthy
I think I need a new orfice tube
Best video to explain this drivabilty problem's
Why do a video and not put a parts list? No money in it for you huh?
@@gufiaito69able lol what? Part numbers change depending on manufacturer and supplier. I didnt want to list what may be available here, but not somewhere else, and I also dont know what vehicle someone happens to be working on. The parts list.literally consists of a powerstop pad and rotor kit, wheel seals, and fluids for what ever vehicle you have, which are readily and easily available on summit racing, jegs, rock auto, etc.

Hey thank you for the video i bought my first ford 1999 ford f 350 4x4 with the v10 i wondered how long i can make that engine last vs 7.3
300k easy. I see them all the time
My excursion is my 1st powerstroke 2005 6.0 bulletproofed...I absolutely love it interior is a little outdated for 2024 but that's makes it even more bad ass these things are classics and I love rare sh*&
great video thanks! Im about to head out into the driveway and do this myself. Just curious why you didnt put the filter in before you installed the HCFM?
That unit came with a new filter in it. I opened it to check and there was one already in there
Well unlike the 7.3 and 6.0 diesel V8s the 6.8 V10 has no power adder of any kind so I'm wondering how much more weight towing and horsepower can be found with adding twin turbos or 3.0 Whipple Supercharger?
Built Ford Tuff!!!
thanks for the vid good content
not helpful, sorry you got too complicated
I have the same issue but when I plug the harness into a window switch my dash goes out and into protective mode ??? Any ideas ? More than just that wires
I have the exact same excursion. Your video was great. I am a do it yourself backyard mechanic. My excursion is blowing warm air in front and cold in back. Just started. I have 340K miles on it and no rust as I live in AZ. Would replacing the stock orifice with a variable orifice may help the car cool. Also ordered the by-pass valve for the coolant from Diesel Site to not run the hot radiator fluid through the heater core when the AC is running. Let me know your thoughts. If you live in AZ and do mechanic work for others I would be interested. Thx
I buzz test my injectors and 5 fails, I switch connection with 5 and 7 and then 7 fails and 5 passes, should I be looking at a ficm?
I see that many people "upgrade" these OE units because they claim it doesn't have the rating to adequately power the glow plugs. Have you done any testing on it that demonstrates the glow plugs draw more current than what the OE unit supports? Also, if these are failing for someone often, could that be an indicator of failing glow plugs? I have a feeling that they likely designed these cheap relays to fail to make sure someone wasn't running bad glow plugs for an extended period of time.
Very nice video. Very informative as I would have done the same . But in the diesels- I couldn’t stress enough on the oil changes and the fuel filter changes. I changed oil and fuel filters EVERY 5,000 MILES on my 6.0 in my super duty! The injectors on these two diesels not only run off of high pressure oil to fire, they also need high fuel pressure to fire! Don’t be like me and try to put off oil changes. EVERY 5,000! I recommend Ford 5w40 full synthetic. Reason for fuel filters is they need clean fuel. Oil change intervals. Do it. I let mine go to 9,000 miles because, hey, I was a little bribe at the time and I buy only Motorcraft when I can or WIX. When I pushed the oil change, well, had an injector stick open. Put raw fuel on top of piston and like the EGR cooler, you can’t compress a liquid, so in turn it didn’t completely pop the head gasket until I got on interstate and put my foot in it. I had a stand alone boost fooled (made the veins stay wider and opened longer, must have performance inhancing part from BD Diesl.) one injector cost me a little over $500.00. I do almost all of my own work as to I was a tech for 11 years, and I guess I still am. But it did case it to lift the head. Also, the heads and block have a .002 MAX standard that they have to be in this variance to be calledn”good” cores. Anything more than that, toss them because you can’t machine the heads or deck the block any more than .002. They offer a set of aftermarket heads that are awesome and way cheaper than Ford. They have more stout injector bosses, and come with injector cups pressed in. Injector cups and commandants stretched to injectors, like the nipple seals (hah hah) tend to wear out too causing hard starts. Change as needed especially with injector changes, but uses a special tool, you can buy it almost anywhere. I’m still learning on the v10s, and might have missed the oil consumption problem. I have found, as I own an excursion with a 2 valve v10, that freer exhaust helps with this. They take a low viscosity oil, 5w20, and I’m told you have to use this for right machining tolerances. I think there had to be something else. The higher heat levels, in my mind will cause the oil to atomise in the crankcase air and evacuate, hence the PVV valve and line have a massive amount of oil in the line leading to intake, then burned off. Change plugs every 80,000 miles and bump the torque up from 15 to 25 +/- to your comfort zone and quality of torque wrench used. I’d trust a $400 torque wrench more than I would that $30 everyone buys, like me. So I’m wondering if they make a baffle kit for this problem. But free flowing exhaust , the v10 LOVES it. Mine runs like a totally different truck, and the fuel mileage jumped way up, I’m assuming 4 to 5 miles to gallon, if not more. I can’t prove it as to I didn’t get numbers before doing improvements. I also did the cheap cold air intake also. It loves also. Trust me. But I love this vehicle. Love the v10, it is a torque monster! The 6.0l diesel, one of the best in my. Oil after Bulletproofed and tuned. Still have to be careful though. Fluid changes. That goes for the coolant too!
Are there any upgrades i should be making before putting a new intake in?
I was just thinking about doing this I am having some bump steer after a 4” lift on my 2001 XLT expedition 4x4 and I read a steering stabilizer can help and or solve the problem so thanks for the video . I am curious how it helped you out I would be grateful for any info.
Thank you. You just solved a major problem. Little Victories!
what does it mean when the key is on and both of the 2 smaller lugs show power even after the relay has stopped sending power to the glow plug lug?
be ready for a fuel pump, you smell fuel by driver rear door, go right for using a camera an look at top of fuel pump they all rot out.
How can I find this part (4c2z-19e558-ba) for the AC system in a 2000 E-350 Van. Ford said it is unavailable now?
