M.R. was a great actor (maybe he still is) and in this film he was incredible, he surpassed De Niro and the specialized press never recognized him. Great movie based on a great novel.

I wish Johnny survived given that he didn't really get to start his new life with Donna, but the revenge was too strong. Still a great movie, Rourke absolutely killed it!

The movie started out promising but it just got really really boring as it went on there were so many instances during the film where it just dragged aimlessly.... it had the potential to be so much better than what it was... hardly any action at all... just a disappointment... truthfully I remember when I first saw it I wanted so much for it to be better but than what it was... DUD....

what most dont seem to understand is that cypher never had johnys soul. it was all based on guilt and the belief there was no point of return. if cypher really had power and authority over him, there would not have been the need for all that deception, hed just take him straight to hell. johny sent himself into hell by taking the blame for what cypher did to and thru him. in the end cypher got 2 souls for the price of one.
