A Jack-O-Lantern With Moving Eyes
Maybe I watched too much Scooby Doo growing up?
Many years ago I had the idea to carve a jack-o-lantern with a unique feature:
Eyes that move.
Watch as I cobble together a mechanism to make that a reality
for some reason.
I don't know why I chose Hannibal Lecter, in retrospect I think Marty Feldman from Young Frankenstein would have been a better choice

Making a Locking Parallelogram Gate
Просмотров 2,7 тыс.7 месяцев назад
I have a wide doorway in my house and there's no room for a conventional swinging dog gate. The right gate for the job can fold down for use, and fold away for storage. Have a look at the process of making a unique parallelogram gate All the bars moving together is such a satisfying sight! Thank you to Matthias Wandel for inspiring me to make gates like these many years ago

I had my blower+cyclone set up exactly the same way you set up yours. The air is moving too fast for the cyclone to do its job. My solution was two fold: First, add a section of 4in tubing bent at 90 degrees to slow down the air (this means reorienting the blower 90 degrees). Second, let my filter get clogged up enough that it again slows down the air (which is obviously a lot more temporary).

Your video popped up in my suggestions, and I really enjoyed it. I worked as an FA/final inspector for a machine shop for many years and was tasked with clean up and restoration of several vintage machines that the company owner had in a small museum room on site. It was fun. The chuck segment reminded me of a very old Bison 3 jaw that the boss found at auction. Circa 1960, it hadn't been removed from its crate in about 40 years, but luckily, a smart operator slathered it in naval jelly before it entered its crypt. Unfortunately, the grease inside had dried into what I could only describe as industrial adhesive. Gentle heat was my only option, and even then it took a few days free it up before disassembly. It freaking stunk too... I think they used whale blubber as lubricant. Anyway, thanks for the great video. Also, you will often find a leather plug under set screws on older equipment. This allowed for setting tension firm enough to stay put, but loose enough to move without tools.
