WOW, I did not know Volvo made their exhausts that way, you also could've sold the catalytic converter for approx. $1200 if I'm not mistaken. Yours looks alooot slower than they actually should be though, have you checked compression? I recently bought a 960 -98 and i was actually surprised at how quick it is, i do have custom exhaust though, so maybe it does make that much of a difference. Cool video, subbed!

Nice car. If it was mine, I'd try to get the 200 bhp restored and then do the shocks/bushings. We have owned white blocks here since 98 and a few have had HG issues - so definitely look into that re lack of performance. Re the gearbox, if it's working well I'd keep it - I know NA has a bit of an obsession with 'stick' but in the rest of the world our grandmothers drive manual Suzukis :D I think all the 960/S90 alloys were nice so you can't go wrong there - so stick them on and drive it for decades! Whatever you do, it's a really nice car and a Volvo exec told me that if Volvo built the 960 today, they would need to charge about 130,000 Euro for it..! Best of luck with it.

Keep the V6 in the car it's a great engine. Just tune it. Why would you ruïn this classic? Enjoy it like it is.

I got my first 780 (1991) from Texas in 2001, they swore up and down it hadn't been in an accident but it had and the wind just howled when you were doing 100k. The engine in the 91 is the third generation red block. It's probably the best engine in the 700 series. As for your shagging, if you bounce it a bit it will level out. The Volvo brake parts are the best, if you cheap out they will squeal. I got my engine in a pick and pull yard in Washington on president day sale for $85.00 US. It cost $1400.00 to have it rebuilt, all new inners. Look for a later year car, they will have the oil squirters. That will stop the piston slap. I got rid of the Texas 780 and got another 91 from Grants Pass Oregon. It had been sitting outside for years, one year with the sun roof open so I used the interior from the Texas car. You can still get parts from Volvo, they have a classic parts section and there is a European company that has new parts as well as an outfit in Bensonville, Il. It's Swedish Car Parts and he will talk your ear off. But he has everything. Some new some old. Allan

Congratulations with the car! I'm voting for a Volvo inline six. B6284T with twin turbos from an S80 T6 would be awesome for this car. I have two project 780's myself. A V6 like yours and the B204GT with manual transmission. Looking forward to follow in the future 👌🙂

Nice car! My 87 has 204,000 miles on it, the V6 is not powerful but it starts right up, burns no oil nor does it leak but here are the things you need to know. First of all, my car needs a transmission rebuild now because the trans cooler is built into the radiator and the wall between failed and contaminated the engine with ATF and conversely the tranny with coolant, as soon as you can get a separate trans cooler and cap the radiator fittings after you flush it out. Second much of the wiring turns to dust from heat exposure in the engine bay, I had to get a new injector harness from Finland. Third the 700 interior plastics don't hold up to the sun very well so keep that in mind. I have had mine for over twenty years and love it but it's full of gadgets that have died mostly because the plastics aren't up to the heat and sun, the headliner even came unglued. Hopefully you can garage it but if you are going to change the drive train, I would suggest cutting to the chase and converting to electric. The engine bay is large, the trunk is really deep below the carpet and the motor could be fitted where the transmission is. Good luck and enjoy your handsome car!

Nice Bertone! I would love to add one to my collection. IPD has a Nivomat conversion kit. What are you going to do with the B280F when you pull it out? I have 2 B280s, one has 484,000 ks on it. They are good engines and have an interesting history, like setting the track speed record at Le mans in 1988 ( I know, hard to believe) or that it started out as a V8 and 2 cylinders were cut off to make it a V6. Very cool car you have.
