Where Li-ion runaway generates lots of oxygen making ferocious fires, LFP runaway generates lots of Hydrogen which is explosive if it collects in the passenger compartment or any enclosed space. every prius is made in japan exclusively 2016 Prius 4 5013 AKE and i love it. we thought about going for a used tesla in 2024 but the long charging times, the battery costs of changing.. huge. no sorry and the depreciation is way worse now. the prius still holds in value around the world.

Hi, have you ever noticed that your Toyota hybrid _occasionally_ starts the engine when you activate cruise control? And in turns it off when you deactivate cruise control? I have a hybrid Camry. It occasionally does that. I then have to keep constant speed with the gas pedal.

I wouldn't get these mowers and batteries wet too much.I have both the cheaper version mower and the self propelled one.I used the cheaper version to mow my grass in light rain and after a dozen light rain mows the batteries some how got moisture to them and now are damaged.

Thanks for the tips here is my story. In love with my reliable Generation 2, 2008 Prius, with 170,000 miles. Bought new for 25K in 10/2007. It mainly garage kept and in excellent shape. Original Battery perhaps due to less corrosion on the hybrid battery connections? Also it’s not pushed going up large hills and high acceleration is minimized. Cleaned hybrid battery fan with an added cleanable filter screen at the air intake. Also easy on the battery in hot weather. Added front and rear running lights and a brighter break light. The HID headlights failed but replaced them myself by feeling my way with my hand and did not have to take the bumper off. They are much brighter than the originals. Replace the 12V battery twice. New water pump and drive belt. New left front bearing. 2 New PVC valve replacements. Fix a leak in the air-conditioning system. Replaced the front breaks once. Sometimes the dash lights go out 3 times a year when the weather gets cold. They will go back on within 50 miles of driving. Heard it’s cold solder joints or capacitor on the electronics? Went 65 K on the stock tires. Then 90K with the energy saver Defender Michelin tires and replaced them with the regular Defender Michelin tires. Loss a few miles per gallon but handles better with a softer ride maybe due to new thread. The Prius is used for long trips only with an average mileage of 50+ MPG. Short trips are by bike, feet and public transit all year. It’s a beautiful sports car Barcelona RED and a sleeping camping car with a 6’ bed with great cargo capacity. Adding a portable inverter makes a 115 Volt generator for back up efficient home power with the on and off cycle of the engine. The Princess Prius is a tough survivor like the princess cat in the movie “The Incredible Journey”. The beautiful large dash display is ahead of its time with sharp graphics like a space ship. Ran out of gas, and a whole dashboard lit up including the triangle of death (indicates serious malfunction - do something now!). Fortunately filled up 1/2 mile away before the battery became too low. Never again!! It’s an adventure reliable stealth vehicle that slips through the air quietly! It does well in snow with the upgraded traction control, but has a ground clearance 0f 5.6 inches. The electric motors distribute Torque more easily which is better for snow. It has the best smooth styling of all the model years. Definitely a incognito James Bond vehicle with secret abilities never to be underestimated. So watch out!!! Soon it will become a classic antique with appreciating value.

Hi i have 2017 Toyota highlander when i use Dr prius app it shows 21 volt for every block on those 14 blocks. Does that mean it has 9 cell instead of 6. please advise.

The real problem with this test, and one that completely invalidates it, is that the cabin temp dropped 10 degrees in one hour with the electric heater. Imagine you are sleeping and the temp drops 10F per hour over 8 hours--that would be a difference of 80 degrees! In reality, the temperature drop slows as inside temp approaches outside temp, since heat transfer is a function of temperature difference, but again, in reality, the outside temp is typically going to keep dropping through the night until around 6 AM. It won't drop 10 degrees per hour, most likely, but you are going to have to keep adding blankets through the night, and might end up with water bottles freezing inside the car. The difference between the tests is actually worst, though, and rendered even more invalid by the fact that the car used 0.121 gal for the HVAC system heat and 0.069 for the electric heat (7:52), because with the HVAC, the cabin temp went UP from about 70F (before the door was opened) to 74F (at the end of the test). This really means there was a temperature difference of 14F between the two heating methods in one hour. Imagine if you went to sleep at 10PM at 70F and by 12:30 it was 30 degrees F colder, at 40F, than when you fell asleep! You would be freezing, and have to wake up enough to add more blankets. Then, the same thing a few hours later when it was below freezing inside the cabin. I fear for this test to make any sense, an electric heater of at least twice the capacity would have to be used, and by that time, the difference is at best a wash, and more likely that the electric heater is using even more gas to recharge the battery. Plus, you don't need to bother with setting up a heater each night, and then storing it away each morning. Just use the built in HVAC system. It's actually pretty good for heating AND cooling, with no extra equipment. I find that I use about 0.4 to 0.8 gallons per night, depending on the outside temperature when sleeping in my Prius. When it gets down below freezing outside, it's closer to 0.8 gal to keep it heated to around 67F inside. When it's over 100F outside, it also takes close to 0.8 gallons to keep it around 67F (my preferred sleeping temperature) inside.

Glad you added the Module # column to the spreadsheet. Not having it tricked you into checking module 8 instead of 7 in the last video.

Lol. I think starting on row 2 got you. It was the 7th module that had the slightly lower voltage of 7.78V which was on line #8 (2:59). But then you got suckered into testing the capacity on the 8th module (3:13) which had perfectly normal voltage of 7.84. Maybe you should have just added another column and put module numbers in that column, rather than trying to remember to convert between line number and module number.
