Run! It’s Gexzilla!

Something I wish Spyro would do that he did in 1 but not 2 and 3 is talk, like other than just in the cut scenes like how he talked to some of the dragons he saved. We really only have Spyro responses in text to Moneybag when choosing to pay or not.

If Gex and Agent Xtra did have children, what would they look like? Would they be weird human gecko hybrids, or would some of them be geckos and some of them be humans?

I don’t care that it’s no longer the 1990’s, we NEEEEEEEEEED that 90’s Gex Saturday morning cartoon! Also I think that instead of referring to Gex as a failed mascot, he should be referred to as, more of a retired mascot or something, I guess.

If I remember correctly from my playthrough of this game, if you hit the space manta rays enough times, you can actually kill them

I’m dreading these levels in the remastered games! All people do is complain about them 😂

I agree that Gex 64 is at least serviceable. But the ending to that version of Gex: Enter the Gecko is so lame compared to the PS1 version. I understand that the N64 couldn’t do FMV like the PS1 could and maybe they just didn’t have enough room to try recreating the end cutscene within the game’s engine, but they definitely could have done a lot better than rolling the credits and showing the hidden silver remotes, especially since collecting all of the golden remotes in that version has no real purpose or value.

It really is too bad that due to the N64’s more limited hardware, the different songs used in the Circuit Central levels had to be cut out, because I think these levels have the best music! 10:47 Huh, really?! I don’t think I ever noticed that they were 2 in 1 collectibles during my playthrough!

16:10 ain't that wierd that Hunter wanted to keep a dragon as a pet given that he's a friend with one. Honestly the whole thing with Hunter is weird him keeping baby dragons hostage until Spyro bests his challenge, like wasn't this whole thing about saving baby dragons. The forgotten lands inhabitants at least have a excuse of not seeing any dragons for the last thousand years, so they don't know what the eggs actually are.

I think I really liked this level as a kid because of how open it was, plus with the low draw distance, this level feels like it can go on forever. I said I really liked this level as a kid, but really I liked the underwater part. I didn’t like the platforming part because you could fall into a death pit and the tune that plays when you lose a life scared me as a kid! That’s why I liked Gex 3 (which I also played on N64 as a kid) more as a kid because the death jingle was a lot less scary to me and it was more goofy sounding. So death by falling into pits or running out of paw prints (health) didn’t feel as bad, encouraging me to explore more in the game’s levels and take risks.

Eventually, I got over my fear and tried braving Smellraiser on my own to find that it really wasn’t all that scary. Of course that was the N64 version so the horror factor was definitely toned down, no bloody imagery, no woman screaming sound effect, etc… years later as an adult I would 100% (or 99%) the PS1 version of this game, and while the horror elements are tame compared to today’s standards, this definitely would have scared me as a child! Also, when I played this game on my PS2, I didn’t get the audio bug you mentioned so I think maybe it has to do with what model of PS2 it’s running on, like maybe the newer slim models? Because I have the old fat model, and it still works!

Gex 64 was also my very first experience with the pop culture referencing gecko! Ah, I remember thinking that the Scream TV levels would actually be too scary for me. (They are pretty creepy even for children) so my dad would play those levels while I would run around in the much more happy and colorful worlds of Toon TV! I would also spend a lot of time swimming under the sea in the N64 exclusive Gex Costeaux level.

This is actually very interesting! I never knew this game had unused music. :O It's cool to see stuff like this, since I've played the game a lot as a kid.

It doesn't make sense to play Sparx levels at the end since beating them gives you various power ups which are useless if you already completed the game.

At least Hunter isn't holding infant dragons hostage untill you beat his challenges.

It may be in a different series altogether, but Ape Escape 3 did try to do what the Gex series did - parody TV and film culture at the time of its release (the monkeys took over the TV airwaves to broadcast their own frighteningly strange programming and anyone who watched it became hypnotised and paralysed. Granted it was part of a bigger plot to split the Earth in two, but it's nonetheless similar.)

Its tail time! I grew up playing Gex 3 on the N64 so it was cool to learn more about the one I didn't play.

This is actually brilliantly made video on the Gex series, even providing facts even I didn't know. Your contribution to all this information cannot go understated. I hope more eyes will be put on this video in the future. Also, I will be looking forward to your playthrough on Gex 3 which happens to be my favourite entry. Again, well done on this stuff man, it's great to see so much passion for this gecko.

Having grown up with the Gex 3 version of the Holiday track, hearing the Deck the Halls version in the Disney game feels wrong. It feels like a Siivagunner remix. XD Very interesting video!

I just didn't know anything about it until after publishing this video. Huxley basically foresaw the exploits of science and psychology to try to force behaviors on as many people as possible, which is kind of the inverse of 1984's more brutal way of controlling people. It goes well with what I say about the fine-tuning of social media to keep people scrolling and algorithms discouraging opposing points of view. Anyhow, it should go without saying, but please be civil in the comments. I don't want any irrational political talk here.

Fun fact: Sethron is the name of the villain in both Radical Rex and its Game Boy predecessor, Baby T-Rex (EU version only). He is the weasel warlock in Radical Rex, but is a human wizard in Baby T-Rex.

Fun fact: this song is used in the Game Boy game, Baby T-Rex (which had its title and characters changed for each regional release). Radical Rex is actually a reboot of Baby T-Rex, and both games were developed by Beam Software. This is also hinted at by Radical Rex’s beta name, which was Baby T-Rex.

Rez is an underrated villain on my opinion,special his boss theme of enter the gecko :)
