But I was wondering, does that structure work for Task B as well? This all depends on how you study; there are not many resources that are fit for purpose. Those that are may not suit everyone. It is a lot of work, but it also improves overall efficiency if you're studying for years - as I am. Others have been successful doing it differently.

    Section 1 does not reflect what medical students, let alone clinicians, write or read. I have never met a clinician writing poems for their patients, or writing non-science Shakespeare text for anyone! This exam needs to be carefully looked by the assessors and revisited to reflect clinical practice experience more appropriately.

      I passed my GSSE a few years ago.. I got JDOCs membership which I found useful. It gave me access to Aclands anatomy videos and anatomedia which I used heavily in prepping for my exam. It also provided access to a bunch of textbooks, which I only used occasionally. Re MCQs, JDOCs quizzes (which I did on my phone/ iPad) allowed me to practise questions on the run, between theatre cases, on the train etc... During formal study sessions I used the excel version of the question bank to make sure I had covered the entire syllabus.

    Hi Chris! This was by far the best section 2 plan explanation I have come across. Thank you for sharing your tips! I was wondering for someone from a science background with minimal knowledge on politics/economics etc, what resources would you recommend? I know everyone suggests on wide-reading, but just for the sake of preparation time what would you recommend if I want to add depth and relate the question to unique topics (if you know what I mean)? Thank you!

    • @drchristophermaguire
      @drchristophermaguire Год назад

      This is very hard. I don't have a singal resource. I had a humanities background - which was the only advantage I had going into the GAMSAT process. I would suggest reading easily consumable content that covers a broad spectrum of culture, politics and history (The Economist, National Geographic, Time Magazine etc...). Adding in some philosophy, politics, and international relations theory doesn't hurt either. You want a sense of the structure of the discussions that take place on these topics.

    Hello Dr Chris. Thank you so much for the brilliant structure for section 2. Regarding respond to the stimuli provided, definitely we need to choose to respond to one or more but my question is could I adopt one of the stimuli verbatim as my theme I would be responding to OR can I paraphrase each of the stimuli to come up with an accommodating theme as all stimuli seem to be talking about the same "topic". Look forward to hearing from you.

    Hello Chris! I’m getting into undergrad soon and I aim to sit the gamsat before I graduate. May I ask when do I have to start preparing? Do I have to start preparing by the first year of university? English isn’t my native language and Im concerned whether that will be an obstacle for me. • @drchristophermaguire

      I would recommend giving yourself as much time as possible. BUt that doesn't mean you have to destroy yourself for a year. Scale up your preparation over time. Start with small consistent blocks of dedicated time and effort (30min to an hour) every few days, then slowly work yourself up to more intense work. It needs to be sustainable for you to maximise your output.

    Hi Chris! Thanks so much for your videos, they are incredible. Regarding section II essays, are we allowed to incorporate personal statements in the argumentative essays? I.e. can I use "I believe" "I tend to" "I" ... I feel as though my argumentative piece is essentially me speaking to the marker through words, thus I would need to voice my opinions using such terms. Is this okay?

    • @drchristophermaguire
      @drchristophermaguire 3 года назад

      I tended to lean away from personal statements, and use terminology that was more general. For example: 'It has been suggested that..'. You can also use more declarative satements to avoid talking in the passive tense too much. That way you avoid saying 'I' all the time but nonetheless get your point across.
