I've been a customer for more than six years, and felt like making a little film for one of my favorite Fort Worth spots. Every time I walk in, I feel welcomed, helped, like the staff actually want to help me make better art (in my case, little movies). A Beautiful Thing I Couldn't Deny: Jared & Kristen's Wedding in Denton, TX

One morning in January '21, I looking for a new coffee shop to post up at, study, and, at the time, get my personal training certification (long story). Google suggested Zera Coffee. I punched into my phone directions to the place, walked inside, and was first greeted by Jared. That day, Jared told me his story of addiction and redemption via the Denton Freedom House and the Grace of God. I got...

Lots of great advice in this video! 😊 I agree on the "free" point you made!
If your monitor doesn‘t support hardware calibration, I think these just do more harm than help. You easily get banding and if the backlight of the display is not accounted for properly you can get false colors but the meter will tell you it is accurate. Also, these are not for „showing a print just like on a monitor“, as you need the exact printer and paper profile for that, but of course you also need a calibrated screen. Afaik the SpyderX Pro is also NOT made for MiniLED displays like MacbookPro Displays. The color accuracy journey is a long one and for beginners I recommend to either get well tested pre calibrated screens or screens with hardware calibration and a fitting colorimeter. Not a colorimeter only, as these cannot measure all colors accurately. Used EIZO Coloredge monitors are good for little money.
Yea... my solution isn't the most sophisticated. IMO it's certainly closer than doing nothing, and the images I've been able to grade still look fantastic on other devices. I just can't drop anything more than $1K on a monitor right now so this is as close as I can get. This for sure is not an expert solution
@ I was thinking the same but having used different monitors over the years and trying different software to profile with the SpyderX, only good results I got were with EIZO HW calibratable displays. Got three, each for 20-50€ each. It can vary for your monitor but windows generally sucks for color management, Windows photo app is still showing wrong colors even in windows 11 and if you open reference charts for grayscale (eizo monitor test or simply create an 8 bit gradient in photoshop) you will most likely see terrible banding. Of course, if your monitor already has a good gamma, this can work. But the Spyder does not even adjust for tint when calibrating a white point. It simply is not accurate to see, if your screen is really spot on a certain color temperature. This is why Spyder software asks you which monitor type you have, as it has correction profiles for certain backlights. But choosing the right backlight is impossible, with the little info Spyder tells you. There are too many screens in the market. Best is if you try out all profiles and adjust the whitebalance to a reference monitor, which you don’t have, obviously. Sorry but this has caused me a lot of headaches in the last years so I speak from experience. Good luck on your color management journey ;)
Thanks for sharing that. It’s honestly more than I was even aware of when I made this video, so I’m pinning your comment to the top so it can help others
1:06 rathole to rathole. your voice is great btw.
Great stuff man. This is very encouraging and genuine. Exactly what I needed over all the “Guru” style - HOW TO START AN AGENCY! videos.
Thank you 🙏🏻 and yea fuck guru content haha
Yes, I agree!
Great video... tip: on the music track put a eq on it and lower the 3 middle sliders. Your voice will stand out better.
Nice work. that power base opens up a ton of configurations with the ronin
Awesome stuff!
Brilliant!
Oh, sweet going to have to try this.
Great ideia
Great video, going to save me a ton of 💰💰💰
Great work! 👏
came out v nice and it all started with a few cold calls 👍
You seem pretty genuine, I like that. And most of your videos are pretty good, lots of bokeh. Do you use a DSLR for most of your videography? Would you be willing to make a video that shows your process / shows you on the job?
You can see lots of that stuff on my IG - @steedfilms. Need to upload those here, just haven't gotten to it yet. YT Shorts has a 60sec limit and most of my BTS breakdowns are 1:30, but I could for sure post longer videos here with more detailed breakdowns. I used a Panasonic GH7 with the Sigma 18-35 for this video, and a Blackmagic Pocket 6K Pro for other stuff.
I think you could add a call to action. For example: "...we're offering this service 100% free for today and tomorrow only. When is a good time for me to swing by?"
Great idea!
Great to see you working through these interactions, sounds silly but, if you are beaming on your end while you speak, what they hear on their end is a simple smile, which makes a big difference. Well done pushing through till you got the yes.
Business owners have no idea ho2 valuable this is
That's the idea! Just give away ridiculous amounts of value and let them tell all their friends and network about it. You can see the video I ended up making here: vimeo.com/1015781729
@@JacobSteed fantastic video my guy
Brother - Great step in the right direction! You had the balls to make the calls! If I can critique something - you need a customer service voice - fake it until you make it - pretend you are talking to a baby lol 😂 not talking down but the tonality, people respond to energy and emotion, this is exciting for your business, you should get excited too!
Hahaha for sure the sales voice doesn't come naturally to me but that's what practice is for! Thank you for the feedback
@@JacobSteed that’s what the boys are for

Gorgeous video! Went on Saturday and was my first time on gatekeeper. I screamed and cussed up a storm that’s for sure LOL
If you're not screaming/swearing your lungs out, was the roller coaster even worth it?
Wsg I was there to but the rides was delayed because of rain
Beautiful
Hey
👇 𝓹𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓸𝓼𝓶
Beautiful colors 🙂!
Thank you! This is the only video I could find to tell me what the switches do
Finally someone telling me to use Line for vocals (or microphone) Others say to use line for synths and stuff. Instrument: for guitar and digital piano. But acoustic instruments again through mic, so switch to line in that case
Will focusrite enhance/ boost keyboard Instrument sound? Or does it need amplifier also to boost keyboard recording sound? Thanks
I've been recording the AKG C 214 on inst level with 48v, should I instead use line level?
Can someone please point me to an instruction video that explains how and has no music please? Thanks!
nice tutorial thanks
No mouth to talk?
Thank you! Wonderful tutorial! Helped this beginner a lot!
So what does the direct monitor switch do exactly ? I’m confused
Can you use it with headphones without plugging your speakers into the interface?
yo man great vid, how do i set up my microphone to just be my dominant microphone? using the at2035 but can only get it to work inside of fl studio. was looking to stream or just play games while using a better than stock mic. anyone know?
Does an extra screw comes in the Quick Release to mount to the Glidecam?
Excellent video! I thought finding a good explanation was going to be easy to find but all I found was crap... until this one. Thanks so much.
How do you the protools software?
I can hear my instruments through my speakers but i can't hear my track, how can i get what I'm making on logic to play through the speakers, if possible
So I plugged in a bass guitar and tried recording. When direct monitoring is on I hear the bass along with whatever else is already on the track. When direct monitoring is off I only hear the track... meaning, even though the bass is recording I can’t hear it. Is this how it’s supposed to be.
yes
Idiotic approach!
What?
Omg that’s so exciting!!!!
Not bad for your first vlog, I subscribed!
Thanks!
line for mic? inst for instruments?
what is the 48v button? what does that do?
put it on if you are using a condenser microphone, its called phantom power
It's the "phantom" button... used for condenser microphones to actually... work
What model is your speaker? What cable do you use?
Anyone else find it ironic that he is making an audio tutorial with $200 equipment but doesn't talk...LOL
That's because at the time I didn't have a mic and I was a bit self conscious about my voice haha
lol
You have to be mega dumb to not understand :D God knows what are you doing here
Where did u get the other screw from when u mounted it to the glide cam? I have a autopilot stabilizer & it doesn't fit with the screw it has
did you ever find screw to fit and if so where? THX!
