Jeremy and Alex discuss the leavening influence of ideology on the church and broader culture and what happens when Christians abandon pastoral accountability in exchange for online “influencers.” Other topics include the important line in the sand the Antioch declaration serves as and the crippling toll that fatherlessness has exacted on a generation of young men. Resisting the Culture of Death
Просмотров 51Месяц назад
The left has made the murder of children and the elderly (or anyone who is having a bad day) a main part of their sales pitch. This brazen move reflects a clear moral line between those who ‘love death’ (Prov 8:36) and those who love God and their neighbours. This week Alex and Jeremy discuss how we can resist this movement, and cultivate a culture of life. For weekly articles and podcasts, sub...
Trump And The Christian
Просмотров 35Месяц назад
In light of the recent electoral landslide, Alex and Jeremy discuss how Christians should respond to Trump’s victory. Many Christians wrongly assume that the gratitude required of us for rulers who allow for good (cf. 1 Tim 2:1-2) is an implicit endorsement for everything they are and do. This is not true, logically or Scripturally. Christians should be thankful for any restraint on evil, and p...

    I hope you did not really mean to imply that "Where two or more are gathered" can only ever apply to a disciplinary situation. A most basic understanding of grammar does not support this interpretation. The discipline is divinely approved **because** of the broader principle that Christ is always especially present with two or more who agree in Him. This does not mean that said broader principle is precluded except in the case of disciplinary action. Yes, it is notable that He stated said principle in said context; but to say that it therefore can only have this singular application is absurd on its face. Many today who long for and seek out a biblical local congregation of more than 2 for fellowship are circumstantially deprived of it nonetheless. It only takes 2 (in subjection to the word) to constitue a functioning local body if necessary. While not ideal, this is simply the spiritual state of many areas in many countries right now. Please, for your own sake on the day of judgement: do not despise us or lump us in with the rebellious, taking for granted the immense gift of a that God has given you in your own context.

    • @thedominionpodcast
      @thedominionpodcast Год назад

      I wouldn't disagree with you that our authority as a body comes from our unity with Christ as we gather and our faithfulness to his word. This passage though is primarily about discipline and is derived primarily from the OT laws about witnesses (2 or 3 witnesses). Broader principles can certainly be drawn from it though as you have pointed out but what we were joking about is the general misuse of the text by people who completely overlook the immediate context. I'm not sure who the "us" is that you are referring to in your last paragraph but we certainly wouldn't put rebels in the same category as those who wish to meet together but are unable to do so due to their particular context (i.e. persecution or lack of other believers in a particular area).

    We can structure humanity according to Sacred Law which is the highest Law and applies to everyone - Do No Harm. Humans know what is right and wrong. We don't need God to tell us that. The Law of Cause and Effect - we all have free will but we are not free from the consequences of our choices. God put these Laws into place at the beginning and they still hold true and will always be true. Anyone can try to circumvent these Laws and deny that there is a "bigger" authority than humanity but it does not change anything. This is something all humanity can align around and understand that when you act in a wrongful manner, one way or the other this will come back to you. This also applies to all the good you do as well. Pharma, government and corporations believe they can commit acts that harm life and will get away with it. That is the ultimate folly. Now everyone's family and friend are open to be forced to take substances that harm them and if they don't go along will pay the consequences. This is a lose-lose for humanity. Hopefully people that are harming themselves and others will one day see it and choose what is good and right.

    Though I've appreciated many of Jacob's sermon during lockdown, and agree on the false teaching of Bruxey. But I find it interesting that no one bothers to call the 95% of pastors who bowed the knee to Cesar as heretics who shut their doors in blind obedience! Isn't that heresy! Isn't that false teaching? The Covid 'season' and delusion was just the beginning. The new world order is being implemented as we speak. How any believer is not able to see the increased evil and ignore the prophetic passages of the End Times, is baffling to me. Many reformed pastors are sadly not preaching the whole counsel of God, close to 30% of Scripture is prophetic! The Bible says have no one teach you but the Holy Spirit will lead you into all truth. We learn from teachers, pastors but EVERYTHING they says must be personally submitted to the Lord in prayer for wisdom and insight. The reformed theology states that ALL IS DECREED BY GOD, so I am left perplexed by reformed believers who, on the one hand, believe God has predestined only the Elect before the foundation to go to heaven and the reprobate are sent to hell WITHOUT ANY OFFER OF SALVATION BUT FOR HIS GLORY!!! Why battle these false teaching if EVERYTHING IS DECREED, PREDESTINED, PREORDAINED? It is an inconsistency that does not make sense. The sad part of this reformed doctrine is that any cognitive dissonance between this doctrine and living out your real faith is answered with 'its a mystery.' Strange theology indeed.

    • @thedominionpodcast
      @thedominionpodcast 2 года назад

      Thank you for your comment, I have several thoughts. The same argument that you are making could be used to justify not praying because "everything is decreed", yet the bible commands us to pray. Our lack of understanding regarding the interaction of God's will and man's responsibility should not lead us to an unbalanced view. Scripture is clear that we are to preach the gospel indiscriminately (Matt 28:19-20). It is not our job to discover who the elect are and preach to them. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to open the eyes of the elect as they have the word preached to them. To answer your question, we are to battle false teaching because scripture commands it repeatedly (Titus 1:9). There were also several statements that you made that are factually incorrect. Firstoff, scripture does not say that we shouldn't have anyone teach us, in fact the opposite is true. Parents are to teach children, older women are to teach younger women, elders are to train up others who will faithfully minister in the church. It is true, as you said, that we should submit all that we are taught to scripture but that does not preclude submitting ourselves to the teaching of our elders. secondly, you state that the reprobate are sent to hell without any offer of salvation. This is not the teaching of scripture or reformed theology. That may be the case for many who never hear the gospel but there are many who hear the gospel yet reject it because they have un-regenerate hearts. God commands many to repent who will never do so (Acts 17:30) but that does not mean that the command or the offer is not genuine. They do not have ears to hear or eyes to see. It is hard for us to reconcile the clear teaching of scripture that God has chosen His elect and decreed that they will not perish and that we are still responsible for our actions. These things seem contradictory to our time bound minds but scripture says that they are both true. We must not believe one at the expense of the other but hold them both to be true in faith as scripture plainly teaches. Jeremy Boyd

      @@thedominionpodcast I appreciate the reply, but if you did not understand my meaning re: 'teaching' and how the Holy Spirit is the only one who can truly help us discern between false, questionable or out right deceitful teachings, from anyone, parents, friends, pastors, doctors, lawyers, politicians etc etc. , then perhaps my point is lost on you. Re: the Elect? The book of Jonah is a good example of God's willingness that ALL come to repentance. Jonah is actually angry because God loves everyone and desires everyone to come to faith, but for some reason Calvinism hates the thought that God loves the whole world and everyone in it. Sadly, Calvinism limits God's immeasurable grace for His greatest creation, mankind, made in His image.

    I've really enjoyed this podcast, and especially appreciated that people who were born in Canada are as critical and logical about the role of the state as you 3 are. From the perspective of someone who wasn't born in Canada, and who has some knowledge and experience with a state-supremacy system (Czechoslovakia under communism), I'd offer this answer for the motivation of pastors (and citizens in general) who obey any government command, no matter how absurd, hypocritical and in this case, non-Biblical. The communist system is based on lies. Some of the lies are small but numerous. Like false dates, names, historical accounts; thr benefits of a state planned economy; the evils of capitalism; the fact that the Lada is the world's best car (hahaha). But one lie is bigger than all those, and much more important. In fact this big lie is the one that enables all the smaller, less significant lies. That big lie is this: your relationships with the state are more important, moral, urgent, and meaningful than your relationships with your fellow citizens. This lie unfolds in lots of different ways, but has the same effect no matter how you tell it. You're a "solid citizen" and a "good person" for doing as the government tells you. You're taking care of the vulnerable by paying nearly all your money to the state. You're "decent" and "sophisticated" because you believe that you're "doing your part" by obeying the government. Millions and millions of people around the world and throughout history have been seduced by that lie. And that includes a large majority of present day Canadians. Even those who call themselves conservatives and Christians. But why? Why is that lie so seductive? Because it's easy. When you believe that lie, you allow the state to anoint you as "good". That's much easier than struggling with your own sin, or living peacefully among people you disagree with or maybe don't even like very much. It's so easy, that it becomes an addiction. The people who have capitulated to every government command regarding Covid are addicts. They are addicted to government approval because it frees them from any kind of self examination or personal struggle. And you'll notice that when any person makes a rational argument against these recent government edicts, the adherents behave just like a smoker or a coke addict who won't give up their addiction. They become angry, defensive, and they attack any position that deprives them of their fix. All the facts and figures in the world don't matter. You can show a meth addict a million pictures of the hollowed out faces of other drug victims, or a smoker a thousand tar-filled lungs and cancer victims. It won't matter until they are truly ready to give up their addiction. Treating slaves to the state like addicts instead of rational people with different opinions is - in my view - the only way to pull them away from their addiction.
