If I have a screw on headshell, do I need to do this?
Very interesting. The galvanic isolation may reduce EMI getting into the streamer equipment enclosure. EMI is known to increase the noise floor of analogue circuits and to cause jitter on digital circuits. Thank you for devising a test to identify some differences. All the best, Rob in Switzerland
Thank you for the clear and concise tutorial. I used a clear plastic protractor to check the alignment.
Very good, I appreciate the information!
This is a quality review. 👍.
What is a newbie? What Mystique? Everything is dependent on other components. SUTs offer what they offer and the majority does not offer a range of settings, any at all. Lots of Buzzwords and Brand names, reading from papers and spec sheets. And finally proving the level of the presenter wich a smartphone trying to measure electrical fields. Yes works, like hitting a baseball with a banana.
Unless you had electrical noise affecting your IP traffic traversing your ethernet connections that could not already be handled by the intrinsic galvanic isolation in ethernet devices (your router, switch, streamer, etc.), then this devices does nothing. It is simply an isolation transformer - a galvanic isolator. This is more typically used as surge impression for ethernet devices exposed to the potential of lighting, like outdoor wired ethernet cameras. Since analog audio isn't traversing your ethernet connection, this device will not affect the audio - the sound stage, dynamic range, frequency response, timbre, and other metrics that we typically measure audio quality by are unaffected by this device because ethernet is carrying only IP traffic, which is packets of digital data that your streamer would then have to convert, eventually, to an analog signal.
@@rangerrecon Paul McGown of PS Audio agrees w you. Hans Beekhuzen doesn't. Both r engineers.
@@AudioTnT There are engineers on both sides of the issue and both have products to sell (although, in this case Paul isn't selling any ethernet signal correction equipment). But I just look at it from an engineering/common sense perspective. There is no audio in the IP traffic flowing through the ethernet. If there is excessive noise (somehow), data errors, etc. then those would appears as streaming issues in the form of pauses, disconnection, etc. - not sonic issues with the quality of the sound. With that said, if someone wants to buy ethernet isolation gear like this and they feel that there is really a difference, they should do whatever makes them happy. I'd argue it is a placebo effect, but ultimately it's their money and their satisfaction. At least this is < $100, whereas the Networks Accoustic stuff is a fortune.
if you do this, you need to replace power wires in your house to, at least the wires that go to your audio room. rest is not shielded and you still get the RF noise. so that few meters is cool but you seill have the noise.
way too much money to play CDs. CD/DVD reader is expensive itself, it is a joke that we have to buy it seperately. At this point I can just as well buy a decent DVD player or even a high-end Blu-ray player and use that to play CDs... lol
@bsnf-5 external USB cd/dvd readers are $25 at Best Buy. However only certain readers will work w the A6 Eversolo. They don't tell u that little detail. Don't know if problem carries over to their A8 or A10 models.
@AudioTnT True that. Thank you
@bsnf-5 if u meant buying it to use as a CD player it would be a waste of $ but if u already own one, it's an option. I think makers of new $$ CD players r chasing a revival that won't take place.
@@AudioTnT True. Actually CDs are doing great and revival is entirely possible. I love CDs, anyway. To each his own. But still playing CD can be done in so many ways, that this alone is fascinating. It's a pretty alive music format. I don't like vinyl, by the way, I consider it overrated.
Thank you. You have answered my exact questions.
Thanks for the video. Just curious, wouldn't it be easier to just splice onto the existing baseline blue cables if a person needed some extra length without having to buy new cable. I have a REL S510 on order but My position will be no less than 35 feet from my amp? Thanks
@@MitchHowes I'm sure that would be fine electrically. If I resell my sub the next owner might like an unmodified cable.
As long as there is disposable income the answer to the question about the last meter will always be, ''Yes, it DOES make a difference!'' 😂 There are guys spending thousands of dollars on their system...every year. There are LOTS of these people, with loads of money and time, in search of the Holy Grail of stereo and they're convinced they will find it. Indiana Jones is an amateur. The heights to which they scale are death defying, like in this conversation about an expensive music computer: ''Who has compared the sound differences between say 4, 8 and then finally 12 full sticks of RAM?'' ''Anyone have a preference for EEC vs non-EEC (RAM)?'' I have no doubt that much of what they're doing is producing good results. I've tweaked my way into some pretty pleasurable listening sessions. BUT, for me it all has limits, called budget and attention span. And back to that last meter of power cord. Yes, it DOES make a difference! Don't know why, but I can testify. I recently replaced the usual ones that come in the box with your new piece of equipment with 8 diy power cords based on Tharbamar's recipe. It uses two 12AWG wires pulled from Mogami's 3104 speaker cable. Add a ground wire of your choosing, tinned copper shielding, the usual decorative plastic outer sleeve, and a ferrite bead at one end. My plugs of choice were the cheaper SonarQuest offering at about 15 bucks apiece. My cost was just under 50 bucks USD per cord. I'm not practiced at the technical jargon that's used for describing sound, but, I couldn't believe the improvement. Hardly a day goes by that I don't listen to at least a few songs from the Gaucho album, so I know stuff by heart. Now, it's as if the notes have moved from 2.5D closer to 3D. Simply more body. The soundstage was already deep, thanks to the Linkwitz LX mini+2s dipoles and the electronic crossover that Nelson Pass custom designed for those little speakers. But now I'm getting what I guess you'd call better pacing and rhythm...and that makes the presentation livelier. While the system isn't up on the cutting edge it's still no slouch, representing an investment of several tens-of-thousands. Yet, after years in the making, it has been bumped up a hefty notch by a few hundred dollars worth of diy power cords.
Thanks. What app do you use to mesure db with your phone ?
@regisvoiclair Sound Meter by Smart Tools. Provides Min, Max & real time readings.
Great demo. Many thanks
Maybe it's an American thing, but here in Europe our smartphones do not have jack connectors, I thought this was universal with most modern smartphones.
Anyone with a basic understanding of digital audio (and data for that matter) transmission knows that this device is a scam, like so many others targeted to the gullible audiophile crowd who find warmth, smoothness and clarity in every ridiculous gadget they're willing to spend their money on. Due to the digital nature of network connections, there is ZERO chance for any of the claimed benefits to even be possible.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! The four ball bearings idea i hope i never forget! Bless you, you know what you are talking about! Wish i had done this with my thorens years ago. Nice !! How well does it handle meta data of ripped CD's ? How well organized is it ?
@ptg01 it's Album and Track directories auto-populate. It can do many different playlists. By manually adding artist name it can search all albums by an artist. Seems to work well w ripped CDs in local SSD.
I was thinking I'd need to cut the tracks feeding the two RCA jacks in case the existing pre-amp caused a draw on the signal level. But other than that I am planning to do exactly the same thing.
@carlthomas4949 it crossed my mind. I did cut the power wires to the cct board. Surprisingly good for an inexpensive tt & cart.
How can I adjust the ceossover frequency?
@HelbethMlelwa are u referring to crossover frequency of the loudspeakers? If so, changing capacitors, resistors, etc. on the crossover board would be required. The smartphone app just measures sound level at each frequency.
@@AudioTnT Ok sir, I am from Tanzania, East Afrika and I want to be making my own loud speakers. But it seems using crossover circuits bought from china and making speaker carbinets my self, will make me end up with a speaker that doesn't sound good, now how can I achieve a speaker that sound good in such enviroment. If you have any video please dorect me to that video sir.
@HelbethMlelwa my friends & I have made LS3/5A spkrs using genuine Falcon Acoustic crossovers ($$$) and drivers as well as cheaper Chinese parts. Both can sound good. BBC website has detailed instructions on how to build and them meet specifications.

Aardvark Classic Ethernet Isolator 😊
I'll save viewers wasting time watching this. The answer is a resounding ... NO!
what I don't understand is that all those kilometers that go to your house compared to that one meter to your device makes any difference
it won't make any diffirence, you need to get shielded wires to your audio room too. and also put an RF proof power strip, and if the power cables to your house aren't shielded... well... most power supply's (good ones) filter RF noise just be sure you use shielded RCA cables. cheap to make with high grade cables. 20 bucks and your have a RCA cable that audiophiles sell for 400 bucks. because of their so called magic. only claim i agree with is get oxygen free pure copper cables. I cut many expensive RCA cables and most of them are shielded, not all but most of them. and if you got a shielded one, combine the shielding wire with the white plug.
Another possible advantage of buying an AC cable rather than DIY is that you can get a full cable that is UL or CE certified rather than just perhaps buying certified terminal ends in a DIY scenario. Possible reassurance of overall build quality and reliability, if it matters to you. Great video!
@@sonomedarenome Audioquest once told me they didn't get UL certification for their power cords. A local AQ dealer said that was not possible. I know Shunyata pwr cords are UL certified (for hospital use).
@@sonomedarenome another advantage w brand name cables is resale value on used market. No one wants an expensive DIY job. Cable termination using cold welding is also beyond a DIYer.
Would tinning the wire add another “layer” of connection?
@mikeeygauthier2959 good question, dont know. I only tinned the tips to keep the strands together.
@@AudioTnT if you used a silver solder, that would definitely have an impact on the sound. Also, this would be like putting solder on the blades of the plug!
tinning main power line cables is just a no go... dont do that!
How long does it take for the device to warm up?
@@АлександрЛущик-ц8т i found it sounded best after 1 hr when it was new.
@@AudioTnTAfter turning it on, the sound got worse. I'm waiting for it to warm up...
0 seconds as this device doesn't handle any analog audio signal. It simply provides galvanic isolation (a transformer) for the ethernet IP connection, which is comprised solely of IP packets carrying TCP or UDP encoded information.
@@rangerrecon The sound is protected, but not immediately. I am pleased with the result.
@@АлександрЛущик-ц8т It doesn't prtext sound - it is just a $7 ethernet transmformer chip taht handles IP data - no audio. Here is a link to the exact part used in it: productfinder.pulseeng.com/product/HX5084NL
great video tutorial. Where did you get the test LP?
@striperseeker sorry for delay. Didn't see your question. Its a Shure Audio Obstacle Course LP circa late 1980s.
@@striperseeker Shure Audio Obstacle Course LP circa 1980s when Shure had the v15 and trackability was touted.
do you adjust the azimuth with anti-skate weight attached or removed?
@@striperseeker that's a great question! I don't recall whether the antiskate counterweight was attached at the time. Especially important w unipivot tonearms. I'm not a big fan of antiskate and neither was VPI so my guess is "no".
@@AudioTnT Thanks. Is it possible to not have to use an anti-skate weight? I took great care in adjusting balance, downforce tracking, VTA and azimuth and my Pro-Ject Xpression II seems to not have an outward force on the tonearm that needs an anti-skate weight. In fact, the stylus sits so much better without it installed.
@striperseeker absolutely. Some systems overcompensate, pushing the tonearm outwards. Plus it seems to me the amount of force should be less as the tonearm travels closer to the center. Not sure these systems do that.
Nice video, high mass turntables will benefit with the addition of mass. Low mass, 12lb pizza box turntables will not see any improvement in performance. There is nothing there to support improvement. It's all gimmicks until you get a, let's say 30lb+ turntable.
@raymiehershey1430 my VPI TT weighs over 70 lb. You may be correct that light TT like Rega won't benefit from isolation devices. That said lightweight TT can sound very good.
Could you please give me more information about this the tool that Rod uses to measure the light pollution.
@memberslist thanks for your interest in DarkSkies of the upper Bruce Peninsula. Rod is away but as soon as he answers I'll let you know. My guess is it's a simple photography light meter. Cheers.
Huge improvement here, I have two, on two networks. Even the TV PQ improved, and that is according to folks in the house that had no clue I added these devices.

I have a big problem of sound in my car, i have ground loops and Bad currents, RF, EMI interfences, causing distortions, weak sound, rca voltage loos, cleaning rca connectors can help me much?
@@basserex4991 non-mendaciously speaking ……may God have mercy on your car stereo system!!!
@basserex4991 probably not. Could try shielded cables between amp n spkrs. Maybe grounding isolator if that exists for vehicles. Could be pwr supply issue. Good luck.
Just saw your video. The biggest improvement I realized, was when I upgraded the ethernet cable from Audioquest cinnamon to (a pricey) synergistic formation cable. Hands down, smoother cleaner, more detail.
Test system with Blue Jeans Ethernet cables. Real difference and improved unlike most.
Those screw on spades, I think, would be a very poor connection, and would degrade any signal! I think the best connection would be XLR cables, if your Preamp has this available.
you must have a lot of time on your hands!!!!!!!!
Great review,Thank you.
It’s still odd that in the 21st Century nobody has produced a self calibrating tonearm or a tonearm with in built calibration systems. For all of the things you said, you would probably have only arrived at a starting point. You would have to trust the stylus and cantilever and the compliance of the suspension. The final adjustment will very probably require iterative adjustments of each of the parameters you addressed with listening as the final arbiter of adjustment.
@christopherward5065 it's very much art rather than science. The tool depends on vertical & horizontal alignment of cartridge body and assumes stylus angles are set correctly. The human ear probably can't discern a few degrees of vta or azimuth error.
@@AudioTnT the variables are many and for all the precision of the tools people apply we find that two identical arms, cartridges and turntables set up according to those precise measurements will sound different and probably, because of the myriad variables that introduce error both are likely to be inaccurate. Because the variations in the positioning of the stylus in the groove and the power of our brains to correct the errors and distortions as the record is transcribed we can tolerate errors. To make the two identically set up record player sound more similar we would have to adjust them away from what the precise tools suggest as perfect settings. I wonder if the psycho acoustics of the constantly shifting errors are what make playing and listening to records more engaging than listening to digital files.
@@christopherward5065 Kevin Grey, the vinyl mastering guru attributes the desirable sound of analog vinyl to "artifacts", aka distortion...whether in the record groove or playback equipment. Measurement parameters haven't evolved in 50 years.
I bought a case of Official Game Puck Sponge hockey pucks. They are under the stand feet, and under every component. I have zero vibration on the Turntable speakers and every piece of equipment.

When you spend that amount of money on a TT why would you cheap out on a tonearm lifter, I genuinely don't get it?
@@thehandseesall just to see if it works. I have a vintage Dual that lifts tonearm at the end of record and shuts off. Not many good modern TTs can do that. Lots of lifters on Amazon now but not when I made this.

I don't use mine. Can't make the hinge frictionless. Lots of Chinese knock offs these days.
@@AudioTnT Didn't mean to be rude, I just am OCD on stuff like that and want everything to be neat and matching etc.
Do you also have stepup transformers for low output dacs without an I/V stage?
Good idea. Do they exist?
@@AudioTnT I mean lower than the standard 2 Volts. Mine outputs about 0,8 Volts, exactly due to the absence of an opamp and a usual i/v stage at the output. It's an I output dac directly from the dac chip, as direct it can be. Old, NOS design, based on the Phillips 1545A chip. Its name is Monica2, by DIYParadise. Excellent sounding after some mods, low output is a problem sometimes (rather few). I think its Vref might be a problem in using an output trafo, as stated in an old diy forum. Another option might be a passive, autoformer based volume control after its own output, with some extra stepup windings. What I meant was the possibility of replacing its output cap with an output transformer. A 600ohm 1:1 may be used in V output dacs or CD players of normal output, but I'd prefer 1:2 or 1:4, if it can be done for i output too.
@fullranger3435 Very interesting. Would output impedance of Dac chip be similar to a phono cart? I'm using dual balanced DACs of Eversolo DmpA6 via XLR to a Topping Pre90 for lower THD and higher SINAD. A passive approach might be even better...
@@AudioTnT I don't know that but I don't think so. I don't know what its output impedance is. I only know that, since I use it with a ladder stepped attenuator before the amp, this is preferred to be of around 20Kohm input impedance rather, than the usual 50 or 100Kohm pots. Mine is around 25. Seems that this direct configuration prefers lower input impedances in the next stage. So I guess a usual 600 ohm output trafo in the place of its output cap would be OK, if no other problem to be solved. There is a special tube output stage built, designed and highly recommended by its creator and others but I don't want to go active, although "lampization" has its strong points. I don't miss anything in my present "ultra pure" configuration, except perhaps some extra drive in the lows, sometimes.
