The host band in exhibition plays their show "Egyptian Theme & music from Dmitri Shostakovich's 7th Symphony" at their tournament. Good job, loved the full sound you guys had. Only recorded a little, sorry, because my memory card was getting full.

Diamond Bar High School VS El Dorado High School @ Arcadia Festival of Bands 2008

Diamond Bar High School and El Dorado High School at the 55th Annual Arcadia Festival of Bands. Basically I just want to see what people think who played the march better, Diamond Bar or El Dorado? The audio and video do not line up for some reason and its like that on the DVD so I can't really do anything about that. 0:03 Diamond Bar 2:02 El Dorado March: The Loyal Legion Composer: John Philip...

My second favorite BOA show next to Lassiter HS 2002.
Does anybody know what the music selections are in this show?
This was my junior year of high school. I still remember watching them in semifinals in the stands and our entire band was on our feet cheering at the end. We were amazed at how incredible this show was and how talented the band was.
The mallet drop still couldn’t give me the confidence to think I’d beat him on any level 🤦🏾♂️🔥🔥 Tim has always just been unreal
One of my favorite all time HS shows.
What's the name of the opening saxophone Solo.....
2020 peeps!
Great show!
Looks like they adapted military style drill formations to corps style marching
Honestly who else is still watching this in 2019. One of my top 5 favorite shows from BOA Grand Nationals
🙋♂️
This has and always be my favorite and my alma mater won this year
Yay Reagan! As a band parent, just have so much respect for the program, the history, the directors, the kids, the school, the fellow parents!
kimis808 it was a team effort. Band parents were a huge part of the success, and I mean that in more than just from a financial aspect. Volunteering to help chaperone, load and unload the truck, show up everywhere we played, and much more. They let us focus on the show, the directors do their parts, which gave us a chance. ... and yes, I was a part of the band that year.
This show inspired me to be a band director from a small west Texas town. Watched this video countless times through Junior high and high school. Love that Reagan continues with their unique drill and music style to this day.
Good stuff.
This was my first introduction to Bands of America. Still remains my top favorite show ever.
Same!
Westfield's snare line gave them a VERRYYYY narrow victory over this. I watched both of these shows live when I was 11 in the RCA dome. And now i'm 26 and think about these shows at least once a year.
Should have been called “The Quadfather” according Eric Carr and I agree
I was looking at the old score for this show and I was impressed that high school could play this.
WOW high school ?
Does anyone have the high cam for this show?
Without doubt, the best show not to win Grand Nationals.
I was in this show!! :D
That’s pretty dang awesome, we’re y’all as amped up as we still are today?
ur old lol jk
Booker DeWitt Lucky !!
That fucking drill at the beginning, what the fuck that shit is sexy.
Watch Present day drill 2012-2016
Movement 3
Don't forget Slavyanskaya.
Diamond bar is not the best marching band the are the worst marching band of all time
3 year champs going on four hmmm? What makes you think this?
I'm playing that this year!! Sounds awesome!!!!!

Shared...so shared.
What happened to this? Nowadays it's all about putting in extravagant props and bands trying to outdo each other with themes. What happened to simply playing amazing music? This band doesn't need anything but clean drill and incredible sound.
You should see what we are doing now.
Musickt196 Watch ORHS, the last decent band without props and themes taking center stage...seriously, once our "props" were freaking rifles with hula hoops around them. Also we placed 17th at Super Regionals so...
Draco491Central we placed 7th at grand nationals last year
lol ok
Jump to 2019 and Reagan is arguably the best in the nation with a show that has no props.
It's just a huge huge continuous process.
It's definitely difficult..The school is in a somewhat wealthy side of the city with large support from the district/parents. Paying high prices to get certain musical arrangers are vital also. Staff was as large as a typical 5A high school however w/additional techs and other support staff. Structure of the program and how it's ran inside and outside of rehearsal with staff or student leaders. Nurturing students in middle school is also key especially if they feed into a specific high school.
Most of what you said is 100% accurate, however the part on the high prices to arrangers isn’t quite that straight forward. The show was written and arranged by the directors of the band and color guard, including drill and guard choreography. They did have their own company on the side writing shows so not privy to finance side. Staff was large but not all were employed by the school.
saxophone.
How does this happen?? Money??? How many are on staff? Do these students have private instruction on the side?? I just wonder how a band gets to this point.
You should see are show now, look at last years Reagan Marching Band Every(one)
Bo Boutwell yes all of the above + incredible support from family/community and Fine Arta Directors
My favorite show of all time, still.
ive seen this video like 11 times already
Reagan should have won Grand Nationals that year...
I agree. No offense but Westfield's props didn't make sense to me. I wish Reagan could've won.
Andrew English me too, but Westfield deserved to win. It wasn’t quite as close as the final score sheet showed. Had it not been for some penalties getting off the field, the real difference was .25 in favor of Westfield.
My cousin was the head director for this band! What an incredible performance.
first place
i agree with you
This show is strong in all categories..music,marching,general effect. Back in my high school marching days('94-'98) in Texas I saw great bands like Spring,Westfield, and Duncanville. Those bands dominated because they were fundamentally sound. Music play is always big with judges scoring..it always was back then and still now. In 2003 I felt like Regan had the best(coolest) show but.. Westfield's sound is top notch and that is what judges want to hear..MUSIC.
Which is why Regan won GE and Westfield won music. The music score is 60%.
lol at the thumbnail for this video
If pay attention a lot stuff wrong this show and other one your talking about. The Box start corners are not perfect when running in this part is very exposed and many other things.
You said it. It's as simple as that. This one in particular will never be copied or beaten. It's impossible
Sup
yeah go reagon rattlers!!!!
@Morgoth714 no WAY is rudimental drumming harder than marimba. nope. wrong.
I hope those sticks were 18...
absolutely breathtaking!!!
you know a show is good if it snags you in the first 10 couple of seconds . . . this show did just that.
@Thetubaeddie Cool story, bro
@illBUrFriend It was 2nd. They did this my freshman year. Rancho Bernardo got first.
is there anyway you could figure out and write them out so we could learn it?
